- I'm a 20 year pro makeup artist and I've had a love/hate relationship with concealer for 25 years. Using clean beauty as my top criteria, I've found four concealers that I think look pretty on mature skin. Two are drugstore, two are luxury, and you'll find out which one I am loving most because it still looks "skin-like" at the end of the day, but covers.

You are amazing, my favorite youtuber for makeup advice. You are realistic about makeup, no one admits here what concealer does, like ageing really the under eye area, looking dry. What I do is I put cica cream on that area and it helps.

Thank you for this video and your honesty. I have been trying to find the right concealer to cover my eye bags, and obsessing over how my eyes look in different lighting, and you mentioned "dents" towards the end of your video and I realize that is what I have been focused on. I was getting stressed out over them, because I couldn't cover those no matter what I did. I appreciate you being so candid. As we get older, our faces change. We need to stop focusing so much on every little perceived imperfection :)

The Catrice under eye primer has been a game changer for me. I can't say enough good about it. I really like the Glossier Stretch. It has a nice dewy super blendable finish. Plus it doesn't cake/crease like some of the liquid concealers. I also love the Dior Backstage concealer for a more high coverage look. The Tarte shape tape was a disaster. I also looked 90 lol

Great video! Ugh, the struggle is real. I’m 54 and haven’t worn concealer or foundation in 4 years. I’ve bought umpteen bottles of light to medium coverage foundation and nothing works anymore. I’m definitely trying your concealer tips! The last one I tried was ShapeTape and that was the final straw...now I understand why!! Thank you 🙏

I’m 70 & tried Tarte Shape Tape Concealer & the Ultra Creamy version. Mistake. Wayyy way too dry; same with the Face Tape. I had 2 moisturizers on, waited 3-5 min for moisturizer to set before applying concealer & Face Tape. I didn’t have time to blend the product. It wouldn’t move. I had a mess. My skin looked like the floor of Death Valley. I’m not going to spend extra time trying to make a new product usable.
I did succeed in using both by mixing with my tinted CC cream/sunscreen, that worked.

I really like it that you are honest with people about having to choose between texture and concealing, and about aging. I'm turning 51 next month, and ever since menopause, I have so much more texture under my eyes that I finally realized recently that I had to choose having smoother texture instead of worrying about totally covering everything. Now I just use a really lightweight concealer (I like the e.l.f. Flawless Brightening Concealer in 23C, a light peachy tone) only on the very darkest shadows right below my crepey skin. I also agree with you about the shape tape, my god, that stuff made my under eyes look like the Sahara Desert.

My under eyes are hollow, dark & yay... aging now! I have found it to be a huge help to mix concealer with moisturizer & apply it right out of the shower. That helps a lot with creasing.

And my eyes tend to tear, too... for me, it's an allergy to an ingredient in mascara, so I have to stay with hypoallergenic

This was a great tutorial because it not only gave us info about the concealers, but it taught us about how to care for our skin & also how our skin & anatomy will change as we age. Thank you! One thing I'd love to know more about is eyebrows. I've embraced my silvers this year & turned 60, which I'm excited about! My pixie haircut is mostly white in the front , silver, steel gray & pepper/salt in the back. My eyebrows are mostly my original dark brown w/some white mixed in. What can I use to fill them in, make them fuller, but not make them too dark? Love your videos across all your social media platforms!!

Thank you for your honesty about concealer! I had already come to the conclusion that EVERYTHING creased and am so tired if all the " this doesn't crease" mandra. And for stating the decision to have hydrated undereyes or concealed undereyes....so true. Thank you for stating the TRUTH about concealer and not another " this won't crease"

This was such aninformative review and so thorough! I'm almost 45 and the concealer struggle is real! I tried regular shape tape about a year ago and... big mistake. It aged me to the point I bout had a nervous breakdown!😄 I just ordered the Ultra Creamy to try but I'm definitely going to try the Tarte Creaseless now. Thank you for such a great review!

The ultra creamy shape tape is a no go for me. Im so disappointed. It creases a little less than the original but still looks bad on me. Im going to try the tarte creaseless.
I’d love to see a video of what’s really happening under the eye, maybe you already did one,I’ll look more but very good advice! I’m gonna try the tarte but usually just embrace the under eye look without anything because I have crepe looking and find everything looks worse when trying to hide it

I'm 55..have the Tarte Shapetape..use it as foundation sometimes! I don't need a concealer, (yet), ,thankfully but it seems to hide my wrinkles really well. Love it (lasts about 5hours +/- for me)

I am new to your channel and I absolutely fell in love I am going to be 40 in December and I have been taking extremely good care of my skin for the past 5 years it's like you were reading my mind I also have a love-hate relationship with concealer and you're right you have to pick and choose and thank you so much for telling the truth not a lot of beauty gurus out there tell the truth anymore I love when you said you can't have it both pick and choose either do we moisturizer youthful skin with a couple of laws or cover the flaws and not have it looks so youthful you got straight-to-the-point that's all the advice I needed you have changed the game for me when it comes to concealer I'm definitely going to go with less-is-more I'm going to tap it out in the afternoon and me and you definitely have something in common hurt creaseless is my absolute number one concealer okay I take that back I have two number ones the Charlotte Tilbury sorry I look forward to binge watching all of your videos please do an in-depth Eye Care anti-aging video even if you've had procedures done like botox or fillers because I have I would love to see and hear what you do again thank you from California🖤👻🎃

Hi Michelle!! Loved this video and can’t tell you how frustrating and costly it’s been trying to find a good under eye concealer! For the Tarte Creaseless, what shade do you use? It’s hard to pick a good color based off of amazon’s pics and I’d either go your color or a the next shade just a tad darker. Thanks and thanks for addressing what I thought was only my problem since going through menopause. 😭
I would love a video on puffy, “dented” under eyes. I know you can’t get rid of the hollows but I’d love your tips on the best way to minimize them visually at the same time as the puffiness.

Great video. Very honest. I like a lighter concealer even if it does not hide so much but the dryness is not something I like. I was so disappointed in Clinique's ALL ABOUT THE EYES concealer, first Clinique product I didn't like in 23 years. So thick and drying, completely unlike all of their foundations. We all have to make choices.

YES!!!! Mature skin eye tricks...I have hooded eyes and this week the ALLERGY EYE’s are preventing any makeup from staying on (mine is washing away with the tears )........any tricks would GREATLY be appreciated ❤️

Sounds like you have the experience as a makeup artist to help those of us over 50 on camera. Most of the clean beauty youtube gals are not commenting specifically how these products perform in front of the camera. A cancer survivor myself really wanting clean beauty products that wont break the bank I appreciate more then you know the tips for us over 50. Can you comment on the best concealer on as well as foundation, on camera. I have dry skin but fight the shineys when filming myself. To combat the shine I use setting powder which just aggravates the lines and dry areas. Would love some help.

Michelle, this is a great tutorial. I have the Tarte shape tape. It is too difficult to blend. My skin is dry mature. Can I add eye cream to the Tarte concealer? I also want a natural every day eye shadow look, similar to yours. Can you do a video for mature women wanting an everyday eyeshadow? I’ve only had eyeshadow applied by a make up artist for special events. I’ve never learned how to apply eyeshadow. I’m also looking for a eyeshadow primer for my dry mature eyelids. I love your make up. Enjoyed your video immensely! Thanks for telling us so much with such honesty.
Try blending eye cream and Shape Tape but I find that doesn’t work too well. Shape Tape is dry dry dry, not pretty on mature skin unless very oily with little to no texture! As for an eye shadow video, you got it!

Thank you! So I have a major issue with creasing, like very bad! But I don’t have the issue with concealer (or anything for that matter) drying out at the end of the day. Never do I see my makeup or under eyes look dry. I’ll be oily not dry. I guess my skin is just very oily? Here’s the weird part though. You would think if I have oily skin I could wear powder under my eyes to prevent the creasing, but I can not! If I put powder under my eyes it looks absolutely horrid. I’ve tried so many powers and using just a little tiny bit. I’m VERY nit picky with things looking crepey so that’s probably why I hate power under my eyes. The best powers I’ve tried for under my eyes (although I hardly ever use them under my eyes) are juice beauty loose power and also kosas powder. Givenchy powder was alright but I prefer the other two. The concealer that creases the least for me is tarte shape tape so that’s what I use on a daily basis. I don’t love tarte shape tape because it’s a bit heavy however it creases the least. I have absolutely no issues with it drying out my under eyes and I do not use a power. Hopefully one day I will find something more natural looking that has the long wear, no crease effect of tarte shape tape.

The problem I have a male over 65 with skin discolrloration is when you oily combo skin, in your sisties it starts to get dehydrated, which is why I switched to Colorstay Normal/Dry is more skin like!

@@cateivy9747 I’m so glad you came back to share that. Thank you! It doesn’t crease at all on me and while it’s sticky/tacky as first, when I dab it in with my mini blender, the sticky goes away! With fingers it’s more sticky. Again, I appreciate your feedback!

I've been using the Tarte Creaseless concealer for a little over a yr now and I love it. I'm 50 with horrible dark circles & fine lines. If you use too much it will settle into lines and be more tacky. I prefer it without the setting powder or spray as well.

My late 30s was when I really started seeing aging, and I was too busy raising a baby in my early 40s, and then things REALLY changed in my late 40s, and this year at 53, estrogen is exiting and skin is drooping like never before SO, I’m paving the way for my younger gals, and trying to also help gals even older than me by suggesting pretty products that are also clean and healthy!

I absolutely LOVE this video BRAVO!!!! My under eyes are by far my WORST thing that i cannot stand on my face! I feel the same way about concealer, most of them age me by ALOT!! It's gotten to the point where i will just deal with discoloration as opposed to looking much older with concealer and I'm only 38 I will continue to watch your videos and would LOVE to see more content like this.
