      when my father was an ADA he was before a judge who did something like this to the defendant, the defendant had a public defender. My father reminded that judge he had to show the people respect since he's not supposed to care who wins.

      Well, he did voluntarily undertake anger management and counselling. People with anger issues tend to act in the moment but often later feel remorseful. Later, they do it again and the cycle continues. Could be he's tired of his anger problem and is taking steps to try and deal with it. People with self-control issues are often spurred to deal with them after they get a wake-up call that makes them realize their behaviour is self-destructive and could ultimately cost them everything they've worked for. The threat of sanctions and possible removal from the bench could very well have been his wake up call. Hopefully.

      The system is a well oiled machine. He could have gotten the help he needed or be reassigned to another position, but the system sees him as an asset on the bench

    There are too many people on the bench that are out of their minds. I have seen it numerous times in the court house. Screaming yelling cursing. Extremely unprofessional. I suppose they think if they are elected by the people that they are only accountably by the people.

    Florida has this issue everywhere. In Sarasota I was shocked by what the judge allowed the state prosector to lead prospective jurors Then present HIS distorted statement as the fact. The judge never called him
    on that.
    When I pointed this out, the judge told the court I had “Unusual Ideas”.
    Yes, maybe so if right and wrong make any difference in court. This occurred during Jury selection, I asked to be excused ……
    Some of us STILL have morals.

    I wish more judges would cuss. I is a sign of intelligence. I never wear a suit to court and never curb my language. It also helps one get off of jury duty when you cuss during the interviews.

    12 hours of anger management? Wtf is that gonna do? How many hours of community service get thrown down for accidentals or simple misunderstandings? How about, idk? 12 days in actual prison? I mean here you have a judge, who knows the law and is supposed to act with the utmost integrity… and when the situation is reversed and say a 18 year old and a 40 year old have the same charge, or get into a fight, they sentence the 40 year old much harsher because “he should know better”, right? So where was this mindset when handing down a sentence to someone “who should know better”? Unbelievable….
