In this video, I compare First Bus 9 to McGill's 38 between Glasgow City Centre and Paisley, and see which bus is better, looking at the fares, the ride and more about their services.
Inspiration for this video is from DriverKing, check out his video here: • McGill’s vs First Bus;...

1:55 Oh I remember taking a bus in Glasgow - rattling like this all the time because of poor condition of Glasgow roads. Also no announcements, no screens, nothing. So if you don't know the area, you can easily miss your bus stop
I remember when the 9 used bendy buses from Linwood to drumchapel. There used to more first services out to Paisley like the 17, 54 and the 6 which is now operated by MCGills . There was a 601 from East Kilbride to braehead via silverburn service too.
Wud be nice more buses from Clydebank to Renfrew etc
If I had a choice I would probably use First Bus, but with barrhead & neilston being semi-rural towns it seems that only McGills dose the route into paisley from barrhead/neilston & to glasgow.
So unless you have a zonecard with the option to use busses & train factored into the cost.
But with MCGills they have a habbit of cacelling busses with little to no reason other than giving the reason of staff shortages.
I used to get the 38 into paisley for work, occasionally getting it into glasgow when I needed to be in glasgow for whatever reason
but these days I'm using the train :P
I get a zone card though so I can hop on the bus whenever it suits me, don't think I'll be renewing it next year though what with the price hikes
Something I noticed about busses in Glasgow vs London is that in London when you sit down, you sit near the window and put your bags on the seat beside you as if to say, "it's taken". In Glasgow people sit by the window, but put their bags on their laps to say, "I'm not going to take up more space than I need". Londoners are rude.
Also that route map with blue background makes the route look like an island in the sea
We put our bags by our feet
People will put bags on the seat next to them but only until the bus gets busy
Wow! You managed to do this without visiting an airport! :)
Haha 😂 I've seen way too many airports recently!
Whatching this on the only version of this bus that Micgills have
Nice video!
We should do a collab sometime
@Someone Explores
If you actually realised the history of McGills and the owners background I don't believe you would be so impressed!
Bus Station 🚉
How was the on board wifi?
The First WiFi afaik was working all right. I didn't test the McGill's one though.
Please SNP - nationalise busses in Scotland! Please. These companies are criminal.
So are the snp
if you realised the irony in your comment
