The 765 was a workers special that ran from Easterhouse to Hillington industrial estate one way only there was once hundreds of workers specials in Glasgow covering all the industrial estates and shipyards but as these industries wound down the workers specials disappeared leaving the 765 and 709 left as I write this I believe they have now stopped
The workers specials dated from local authority PTE days , they were numbered in the 700 series of route numbers and served Hillington Est or Scotstoun West ( Shipyards) , they took their numbers from regular routes , I.e the 765 you travelled on , via most of the 65 rte from 70/80’s that operated from Riddrie - Mosspark , I’m surprised any still run , I was a driver from 93-08 , and can remember that 708, 709, 733 , 721 , 741 , 767 , & 768 were still in existence, most only operated outward morning journeys only .
Really interesting. I wonder is that route would have increased if it was a regulated of public ownership bus network. These buses are Volvo B7RLEs but are sadly going due to the electrics
Reminds me off the Manchester x84 which is a weekdays only commuter route running to Manchester in the morning and back in the evening. Sadly it’s seems that is going to be cancelled! Good video mate.
709,765 where to start of the 9/9A service, so drivers taking the buses out of depot would run these services to help workers but also get them into Hillington to start the 9a out of penilee, but after covid, driver issues and due to services being moved to different depots in the city due to 9/9a becoming fully electric, these service most likely will not return.
Yeah, I'd noticed that a lot of the old 9/9a fleet being thrown about all over the place. First are quite good about removing routes without anybody except locals noticing 👀
@@SomeoneExplores yeah all the old volvos like the one you where on in this video are put on random routes now they will soon be scraped when whole fleet is electric, there is big changes to the routes coming soon as they are struggling to run the night services
Gets a like purely for being mad enough to get up that early and heading to Easterhouse. 😄

That's actually amazing how long they lasted. There's nowhere near enough information on thr cities past bus routes.

I’ve seen the 709 in the morning before, it’s mainly been single deckers, though I have recalled double deckers being on it twice in the past.
I could imagine doubles on them to be fair
I was planning out my route ahead and I came across this video, I found it really entertaining 😁
Thank you very much!
Enjoyable as always!
Thank you thank you :)

Interesting, had never heard of either of those routes.
Nice video! Very interesting for me :)
Ah! I was wondering when you were going to travel on these!
OH YES, I see it on bus things but never see them, weird.
so do you stay in glasgow or do you just cut about the UK?
From London, but study in Glasgow haha.
"I don't know why I do these things" :-)
Still honestly don't 😂
