    Gwent was so generous with resources, I am just glad it held on as long as it did. I am also enjoying snap but with 1 card being released a week it means you can never actually catch up so you will always have a carrot dangled in front of you. I really hope they refine their model in the future. Also top tier graph, I know that must have taken a lot of time.

    yeah im at cl 3560 and have all pool 3 cards the difference of card aquisition between the beginning and now is honestly very predatory. The only way to feel progression is to spend money to obtain quadruple the amount of credits you needed to even have a chance of getting a single card a day after cl 1000. Massive respect for the time you took to make this video. This is spot on. Sadly the game is so much fun XD

    I am a casual player that just hit pool 3. Honestly I already have so much options to play different decks that I don't mind not unlocking new cards, I have several already that I am not using :D

    I like snap but the onboarding is insidious. Feeding you constant unlocks and easy bot wins to hook you, stringing you out at CL500 where you are dropped into the Wild West against beta players will full collections, giving you hope again with the token shop at CL 1000 then starving you for collectors tokens after that so your mind wanders far past the reasonable season pass to the kraken food bundles just so you can keep the dopamine hits coming. Lol. Don’t buy those variants …even sexy white queen…save that gold for a bundle with collector tokens.

    I love the gameplay of Marvel Snap but I will never give into these predatory prices, the only thing I'll pay for is the Battle Pass (doesn't seem like a lot per month). I'll never understand the mentality that you need everything all at once. I'll just keep playing and when I unlock something I unlock it, until then I'll just use the cards I have and do the best I can with them. Also, I can't believe how much gold costs and the transaction of gold to card variants, essentially paying $14-$28 CAD for a variant of a card you don't physically own is insane to me.

  • @LetoAtreides82

    The amount of time needed to go from pool 2 complete to pool 3 complete is ridiculously long. After completing pool 2 I have so far spent over $250 and I'm only at 1707 collection level. And yes I already know that completing missions and refreshing missions is one of the best ways to spend your gold and yes I bought the two most recent battle passes (Black Panther and Silver Surfer).
    I believe you don't become pool 3 complete until you're nearly at 3000 collection level. So I've spent well over $200 and it barely put me above the half-way mark to completing my pool 3 collection. I think that's insane. Fun game but card acquisition needs to be improved in my opinion.

    I think the most worrying thing about Snap (that I'm surprised the EU didn't pick up on) is the gambling aspect. The game uses loot boxes and gambling mechanics to addict players. I personally am fine with expensive prices, that is upfront and the value of cards is subjective. But EA was fined heavily for loot boxes and I fail to see how this is any different in Snap. There is a small percentage change of opening rare cards in the loot boxes, but then again... you might just get a title lol so you keep playing and spending credits hoping that you get lucky and get the cards you want. This is far more dangerous and predatory than a season pass.

    I found it no more evil than hearthstone - hearthstone has loot boxes which is worse, but you can craft any card with dust which it's better, overall I'd say it's equally not evil. Both are less evil than 90% of the mobile games.

    It's fine tbh. I'm not a hardcore gamer and I'm not that impatient that I'd whine just because I can't get the cards I want as fast as games like Gwent/LoR. Making do with what I have was a little bit fun as I progressed through Series 3.
    I actually only spent money after I finished Series 3, I thought that the game has given me enough fun to make me spend a little.

    I understand the battle pass needs a card to be the face of each season. But that is pretty "pay-to-win" especially when the card is crucial for a deck and there is no guaranteed way to get that card later.

    • @trevorjames123
      @trevorjames123 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree but I think the gambling aspect is worse. You can see how much the season pass is and decide if you think £120 a year is worth it. But the card opening system is just gambling and could be age restricted.

  • @AlexOCPMurphy
    @AlexOCPMurphy ปีที่แล้ว

    So very true, this game although very fun is one of the worst offenders for predatory practices. Some of my favourite Former Gwent streamers during beta tried to spin this game as totally not pay 2 win. I understand they need support from the developers and perks of being on their good lists, but even in beta this game was far from generous.
    Games like Gwent and Legends of Runeterra have given a excellent perceived value and most of the times LOR has so many options to gain chests unlocking cards in your chosen region or in Gwents case chosen faction. Lor has even a Free Rouge mage like game that also builds towards your card acquisition. The best part of these 2 games is the ability to craft the exact cards you want or need to be competitive easily.

    I think you're over estimating the offense by quite a bit. Yes, everything you say is true, but the line between honest advertising and predatory is not so black and white. Some things in this game certainly are predatory, but others are not. I think Gwent's generosity was a big part of its failure and many of these more questionable practices might be necessary to get the income needed to survive.

    • @Freddybabes

    • @trevorjames123
      @trevorjames123 ปีที่แล้ว

      You think this is necessary for them to survive? This is one of the most profitable card games ever created. Unless by necessary you mean that the shareholder bonuses wont be large enough. This is greed. Just look at the shop prices. And I really disagree that Gwent failed due to the economy. Gwent failed due to developer decisions and lack of experience developing a complex card game that didn't use the skills they had, i.e., making single player games.

    • @dgthunderer
      @dgthunderer ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trevorjames123 to reiterate, some of what they do is manipulative and some is honest marketing. Some of what they do is necessary and some is not.
      As for Gwent, yeah, that was a big problem. I left the game several years ago so maybe I shouldn't speak to what caused its downfall, but when I was around it had plenty of player base despite many complaints on the professional scene. It was more than enough players to keep the game alive provided players were incentivized to spend a modest amount of money.

    • @williammclean6594

      @Dr James well it is a free to play game if people don't spend money on it they have to shut it down so they have to sell people something you're not just going to make something free i with no way to get money. Console games get their money by charging 70 bucks a game free to play games have to milk people with Micro transactions because free to play
