- As the WNBA season begins, many Caitlin Clark's fans are not happy with the Indiana Fever Head Coach, Christie Sides. They feel she is the reason Caitlin Clark has not excelled in her professional Women basketball. While at lowa Hawkeyes, Clark's coach Lisa Bluder was one of the best coaches. Caitlyn has a tremendous fan base of NEW WNBA fans. We naturally want to watch a continuation of Caitlyn's LOGO 3's trouncing other teams. Learning that it's not going to be easy. Other teams will contain Caitlyn. Coach Sides & former point guard Wheeler are Fever old school Basketball. They might need to be traded./fired.

Sides has shown her immaturity by publically critisizing Clark in an effort to establish dominance over her. Her offense is a disaster revealing her ineptitude as a coach. There is no flow to the offense and certainly no effort to include Clark. The Fever is blowing it and Sides needs to go.

Sides coached every where ... the issue is every game is a NATTY in the WNBA and CC fans has to realize this, these teams are defending CC as LSU and South Carolina did and they are making CC play D. The difference these women are better shooters than LSU and SC so you can't leave them open.

FF to the2024 natty CC attempted 13 /3s made 5, she attempted15 / 2s made 5. The person who guarded CC / Alexis Morris had 21 pts , attempted 3 / 3s made 1, she also attempted 11 / 2s made 7 thats 63% shooting. FF to 2024 Raven Johnson hardly scored but she shut CC down after that fast start and Iowa could not counter the baskets that SC was dropping after CC was muzzled. Now you mentioned the #3 D ... she threw up 11/3s and made 4 ... if any things thats good D. She threw up 15 / 2s and made 5 thats great D. So you are bragging about CC attempted 26 shots and made 9. The results will still be the same Caitlin doesn't have the skills yet this is a different league not saying that she won't get there but she's just not there now. Caitlin needs at least a year under good coaching whether it be this coach or someone else. How good Caitlin will be is up to her she has a good network of support she needs to tap into it. She needs to hire some specialists and work with her on her weaknesses to develop her game she can definitely afford it

How them not being able to shoot or spazzing out under the rim is a coach’s fault is just stupid. They need to go up strong, use the board and not spazz out and throw the ball wildly at the hoop.
Then there’s “follow your shot” that would come from Coach Norm Eash.
The improvements I’ve seen since game 1 are good. But they need to work on their own ball skills and choose good shots. And play good team ball.
The coach can’t do it all. If Clark turns the ball over 10 times in first quarter, she should be on the bench. But there were plenty of passes that a heads up player should expect and catch.

I saw games where a good defender held Clark down while at Iowa. A great player should be able to get some open shots for her self,but looks like the coach want let her play the way she did did to set all kinds of records.

Also, her teammates are not completing assists…seems like Caitlin’s hands are tied. The Coach is really blowing this opportunity. She’s ruining Clark’s confidence, and will be losing viewers who want to see Clark play. Very unfortunate.
Erica Wheeler missed so many opportunities to pass to Caitlin for a shot. She was always late to deliver the pass. I think Wheeler is a distraction. Sides offense is crap. No one is setting screens for Clark they just stand there looking dumb and getting scored on.
Let's make sure Caitlin doesn't get to play her game let's show her how to lose.

Boston needs to lern to handle Caitlin’s pass and just turn around a make a layup. Nothing fancy, no dunking just put in the basket. If she have made some of those shots the Fever could have won.

Clark was missing shots 😂. Have you not seen the game and all of the shots she missed 🤔. Make up an excuse for anything and blame it on everybody, except putting the blame where it belongs and it’s not the coach it’s Clark. First year watching the WNBA . There’s some very talented players in the games I’ve seen . Way too many bunnies missed , terrible passes , Tik tac fouls called and mugging not called , the Fever is why I’m watching the league at all . Not sure how many more bad games I can watch . At least compete for all four quarters !

Having coached college men's basketball, the Fever's offensive schemes are some of the worst I've ever seen. No one can get an open look and they fight to beat the shot clock time after time. Defense is definitely substandard, but offense is much lower than that.....Totally wasting the best women's player ever.....
If the Fever had a GM or owner with any vision, any vision at all, Bluder would have been hired before Clark was drafted. But irrelevant franchises with a history of complete and utter incompetence don't have the brains to connect the dots. Besides, this team is so bereft to talent that it would take any coach years to turn this train wreck around.
Yes! Let's get Bluder to coach CC so she can continue to chuck up 3s to her heart's content! I'm sure there are numerous WNBA records she can break this year, as long as we give her the green light to shoot the ball everytime she gets it. Simple fact: In the preseason, the game CC scored the most, 20pts - the Fever LOST. In the game where she only scored 12pts, the Fever won. When I watched this last game, the entire team was off. I mean, they were missing easy layups. They were taking bad shots. It has less to do with Caitlin and more to do with the team not coming together and focusing as a unit. They may have lost to one of the best teams in the league but the Fever failed in every area. How CC is coached is NOT going to change that.

That is right, because the team isn't built around Clark. They have players not willing to take a backseat to her. And they are young have no good veterans. They have Wheeler who is just meh, she isn't helping you win anything.
Clarks 3s are all tough shots. If the defense extends to make the 3s difficult, penetrate, pass, and take it to the rim and get to the line. She's 10 for 10 from the line. In two games she scored almost every time she took the basket to the rim, either a basket or free throws.
I think Sides believes her job is to ensure the other teams look good by providing a team for everyone to beat. In the movie in Heartbreak Ridge, the Recon team's purpose was to die loudly for the commander's favorite squad. The Fever is the WNBA's Recon team, put on a decent show but don't you dare win.
Sides has not one but TWO Number 1 picks and that’s how they play? How many top players do you need? I know it’s early days but the Fever are losing, their game is lacklustre and their generational players are MIA.

Interesting video, but you need to redub it to say "Bluder" correctly, to have credibility. Having said that, my view is that for most of the way, I backed Coach Sides. But in the last game, it is obvious they have not developed the inside game even though they have real talent there, + Clark's ability to drive toward bucket, pass, and fake. Bluder knows all that.
I'll start watching again when they get rid of that coach... I'm done .

Coach sides must create plays/screens for Caitlyn. Boston could provide a pic on CC's left side, lob CC the ball, then roll/cut towards the basket expecting a surgical pass. CC could also shoot one of her LOGO 3's.

No one is really putting reins on Caitlin, that is the thing. She is just getting clamped down on offesne, and cooked on defense, and no one is playing well enough beside her to take any of that pressure off.

I think they are trying to run the offense through Clark for the most part. I thnk spacing is bad, there is too much dribbling etc.. These playerss didn't play in system like Clark did. People didn't like hearing Clark had to adjust to the WNBA but to make everyone have to adjust to Clark style ball is not an easy overnight thing.

Something is definitely wrong with the way Sides is coaching all around. On and off the game.
Proof is in the puddling. Caitlin Clark shined in yesterdays game when she had the ball in her hands and pushing the ball the Fever stayed close. Cc sits the 2nd quarter and fever down double digits. Indiana bigs can't keep up with CC, and will not set a pick for CC when she is hounded and double teamed. I won't even mention how the bigs can't finish in the low post in the half court game. Not what I expected to start the season. Not saying the fever would be 3 ups 0 downs, but I expected the fever to at least be competitive. How about Caitlin, Berger, Hull, Boston, and Samuelson and just run. The old guard playing on the fever need to be shown the door. And if the old guard was really interested in chemistry and teamwork someone would have pushed or retaliated on Stewart for that pick she set on CC. Even though I would say it was a legal pick, the bigs should have cleared the lane let Stewart drive and then gave her a flagrant hard foul. Not gonna abuse the rookie as Stewart should have been picking herself off the court. 3 games in and CC has had a bloody lip and knocked to the floor with a hard pick. Some needs to be an enforcer.

It would probably be a good idea but it's not going to happen. Bluder loves Caitlin and loves basketball but she's been coaching for 40 YEARS. Retirement looks like sitting on the patio with a white wine spritzer watching the grandchildren play with a dog and going to be early and watching TV until she falls asleep. Or something like that. Coaching Indiana looks like dodging grenades being lobbed from all sides while trying to tapdance on a coffee table.
Bluder will take the Challenge. WNBA is another level so the challenge is good to take. Good coaches always dream of coaching in the highest leagues.

I have a question. Who did Bluder say she would go to the Fever? She will never step front and center, it will have to be the Fever Big Wigs that make the offer. I think Bluder would rule the WNBA, in under two years, cause she a great coach, she knows when to use the stick and when to use the carrot. I think Bluder is a great college Rah Rah coach, but I doubt if that same coaching style would work with grown women. Maybe she could adjust and have a WNBA style of coaching that would work, but I wouldn't count on it. I doubt if many professional players would be happy as role players supporting Caitlin.

Anyone with the slightest knowledge of basketball can see that Sides doesn't understand the fast break game and can't coach it. The Fever needed to trade Wheeler at the beginning of the season for Nika Muhl or Melbourne from Seattle and then looked at a trade for Gustafson from Vegas for Boston. Gustafson would have brought size into the paint, instead of Boston who is so undersized. The Fever also has to tell people we are rebuilding and don't expect alot from this team, instead of making it sound like Clark was going to bring a championship to Indiana this year. I don't think Bluder could help this Fever team of incompetents.
