Just installed my second plug in Juicebox 40. This one is on the outside of my garage. I ran about 40 feet of 3/4 inch EMT conduits across the back of my garage and down the side to the front corner where a whatever cover outlet was installed. I pulled 3 six gauge conductor and common wires and 1 10:gauge f round wire. The Klein pulling foam was indispensable.
So I want to install the wall mount but the garage wall is cinder lock. Do I need to screw on a wood board to the wall before I install the wall bracket?
Nice work. How did you fasten the white brace that is suspended between the garage door tracks? Is it woods? Did you screw it in from inside the door tracks? I am planning to do the same thing in my garage for my installation. Thanks
Thanks @Tom J! The white charger mount between the garage bays is a custom panel made from wood. It is screwed to the garage wall with pocket holes so they are not visible. It works well and looks nice! I can design a custom panel for your garage, if you are interested please email evunite1@gmail.com. Thanks again for the comment! The electrical for your EV is not code compliant. The breaker needs to be GFCI protected and the receptacle should be rated heavy duty to prevent overheating, which is a major cause of fires in EV charging installs. That PB-50 outdoor receptacle is not rated for continuous duty and will eventually melt.
I have the Juice box 40 charger and it works great … never had a problem with it charging. The biggest problem is that I can’t get it to connect to Wi-Fi. Since I have a Kia I program charging through the Kia Access app and everything goes as planned. I tried many time to connect the charger to its app but I have given up. Don’t really care anymore just as long as it charges my car.
@John Elegant, thanks for the feedback, much appreciated! Glad the video provided you with some help! Let me know if you have any questions! Your biggest thank you is a video like and channel subscribe! Have a great day!
Can we flip the 14-50 receptacle to not have to bend the cable? I've heard that its preferable to have the neutral prong up top, but I'm not sure how true that is.
Hi @Darrin Wright and thanks for the question! Personally I like the ChargePoint Home Flex slightly more. I think it has a better mobile app, more compact design (with a nice pivoting handle mount), and overall I think the build quality is better. I also like that they have 24/7 support and a large community (and growing away from home charging network). If you haven't already check out my ChargePoint review I would recommend watching that video. What EV do you own? What features are important to you?

Hi there. I made all the setup, the box is connect to my mobile app and wifi, but when I plug into my car xc40 pure eletric, the box make some noise and a red light blinks and I got an Error status on the app. Do you have any idea? Thank you very much
Hi @Eric V, thanks for the question! Yes, they are outdoor rated. Taken from the JuiceBox website "Our JuiceBox Level 2 charging stations are designed for all weather conditions, and are UL certified and tested for safety and durability." Hope that helps! Like and subscribe and happy charging!
@@evunite1 sorry I should have been a little more clear in my question, do you think it would be easy to install outside on a house with vinyl siding that overlaps? In other words it's not quite a flat surface like where you installed yours.
@@ericv1540 I have not personally installed one on vinyl siding but here is something I found on a forum online "Assuming the siding isn't so old that it has become brittle and will crack/fall apart, the siding sort of snaps together. You could unhook some near where you want to mount the EVSE to get behind the siding. Then you will be able to determine if you have something solid to screw/bolt the EVSE to. Assuming there is something solid behind the siding where you want to mount the EVSE, you can simply screw thru the siding and attach the EVSE. Use calk or silicone to seal the screw penetrations. The hardware stores usually have a mounting "block" that the backside matches the contour of the siding for a more elegant look but matching your siding's color may be an issue." Hope that helps!
If I install a juice box 32, will it internally adjust to the amperage of the 30Amp plug and breaker rating of the plug and breaker I already have in my garage?
You’ll need a 40amp breaker. And for the 42amp juice box you’ll need a 50amp breaker. It suggest to go above what’s needed for the unit to work. Hope it helps
Do you really need to turn off the breaker in order to plug in the Nema 14-50? Just like my dryer, I don't need to turn off the breaker in order to plug in the dryer unit
I just installed the Juice Box and followed their online instructions as well as the mobile app. Sorry to say that I cannot get it to charge for more than 15 minutes. No help over the Thanksgiving weekend! There is no written instruction for installing the app and I have to look online to print the color LED indicators that let me know what the charger is doing. That said the installation was super easy but you cannot do anything without the app; and that is where it all falls apart. Hopefully I can get some tec support on Monday. Not sure if I have to do anything with the car app! Why can't they include old school switches & timers?
Your 60 Amp circuit breaker has too high of a rating for your unit. The breaker should be rated to protect the wiring and cable to your unit. If the unit is rated at 40 Amps then the breaker should be a 40 Amp breaker.
@@Elricky124 The circuit breaker is sized to protect the wiring. In my case, the car controls the actual current depending on the settings on the dash.
What if you don't want to hook it to a Wi-Fi you just want to hook it to your phone The Internet has gotten worse with everything Nothing has common sense no more everything has to be special Words and how to hook up stuff to the Internet Why not our cell phones
Good: it does charge my 2015 Tesla Model S 85 from 16% to 80 in about 4.5hrs (240 circuit, 40A with a 50A breaker), Tech Support easy to reach, 50/50 understanding language Bad: software crap. Software doesn't detect current battery level, so you either have to set the starting % in the apk on your phone, every time you charge your EV or accept that the error message you will get from the Juicebox is irrelevant. Fortunately the Tesla apk reported the correct information. I am totally disappointed with the software, and solely for that reason, I would never recommend this product to anyone. The information should simply report what charge was applied but to indicate the current level of the battery state and not be able to read the current state is terrible, for all the money the Juicebox Cost, Shame on ENEX
This Internet thing does not work it's complicated This app for this unit does not take the phone correctly. You have to have a home Internet. It's ridiculous And what app there's hundreds of these apps that don't go to This app
