Platinum plunger was bottom tier for me. Not because of the twist actually being bad, but because I'm still mad about the fact that they called it the platinum plunger and then made it golden...
Why are drag race producers so good at making the most genius and amazing twists half the time, then the most unfair, horrific, strange twists the other half? They’re always so hit or miss. I live😭😭
For me the best twist is on the finale of All Stars 10 when Ru told the Queens they could each pick a song to solo lipsync to and Megami chose Baby by Justin Bieber and revealed a "Protect Straight Art" sign, giving her her deserved win.
Honestly, letting the queens pick a song to solo lipsync to (I think they're asked in the casting process which songs they'd love to perform) could be a fierce idea for a challenge
The Porkchop Loading Dock served an extra purpose. The production got a taste of everyone's head-to-head lip sync capabilities. By doing this they learned to never put Gottmik in the bottom, and they also knew who to put in the bottom as ringers to eliminate someone they wanted gone. It sucked and made for bad TV, but I get why they used it as a tool.
I never wanna see that damn chocolate bar again💀. The 2nd hand embarrassment and predictability of that chocolate was awful especially on a season with 7 non elimination episodes.
i really really like split premieres not for the “twist” aspect, but because it’s SO much easier to talk about just 7 queens for the first week of the season compared to 14
@@goleon7671yes!!! I made this exact comment on Instagram!! Kylie Rajah and Trinity would’ve had incredible track records if it had been top two!! And TKB likely wouldn’t have been cheated out of her top 4 placement. Kylie was too 2 for the ball, snatch game, and maybe the judges could’ve made her top for the monologues too.
I still stand by the fact that if they did teams again but the queens knew when going on it would be ICONIC! Like a dynamic duo drag season?!?!? Everything!
While it's not necessarily a twist, I think the Shade Tree from S8 was one of the funniest nothingburgers the show has tried. Literally just a confessional with a different background.
You missed the “if you’re not in the top, you’re in the bottom” that first appeared in AS5, which really tanked the finalists track records. Also the shade tree from S8 which I mean, is understandable why you missed that
The golden beaver and immunity potions should be a staple for all seasons. The golden beaver is the perfect way to do the all stars lip stick twist without the queens taking the blame for who gets eliminated. And the immunity potions have great potential. It's pretty much just the immunity idol from Survivor. At worst it might not really go anywhere on a particular season, but it won't "flop". It'd just kinda be a thing that happened, just existed in the background. But when a queen uses it in the right way at the right time, it'll be TV gold. Also, Canada 4's lalaparuza was the best format out of all the of the elimination lalaparuza's (that I've seen so far). That format should be the standard for all seasons moving forward (for seasons where the lalparuza is used for elimination). And the season 12 twist where the producers had to scrap they're entire forced storyline at the last minute and re-edit the entire season into something worth watching, yea that was a fantastic twist. The producers should really let things flow naturally and stop trying to force certain storylines and riggory down our throats. How exactly they went from seeing the widely positive reception of season 12's last minute editing to then implementing the most egregious and blatant riggory the very next season is beyond me.
My favourite was the season 16 lalaperuza for many reason (some which weren’t mentioned). 1. It showed more lip syncs that was all of a high quality which was very enjoyable and gave many iconic moments like morphine spinning her arm whilst looking at her nails or everything Megami did. 2. It was a celebration of previously eliminated queens giving them more exposure and redemptions. The episode specifically gave Megami such a boost in fans that will give her so many future opportunities in her career. EG: most likely going to return for an all stars. 3. It was very good having this episode just before the finale. It finished up the storylines for all previously eliminated queens so we could then solely focus on the top 3. It gave the previously eliminated queens their moment so the top 3 could also get theirs alone. It was also fun having the top 3 queens watching the lip syncs alongside those who were beaten. EG: plane making jokes about how she’s looking at amanda bc shes serving but didn’t want to. 4. The lalaperuza was outside of the main competition so the queens weren’t already stressed about by previous challenges/ limited by outfits. It meant that the queens could solely focus and fully prepare for the lip syncs, to give the best performances possible. 5. Its format meant that the better queen on every lip sync would progress and go to next round. This resulted in us seeing the queens that were doing well giving more lip syncs and the 2 best queens lip syncing for the win. This was very natural and much better than S14 & 15 which kept some of the best queens to give the best final lip sync possible which seemed forced and strange EG: Jax vs Anetra or Jasmine vs Bosco. Also we got to see megami and morphine turn it out multiple times. This is unlike previous lalaperuzas where weaker queens repeatedly had lip sync such as Spice or Malaysia last season.
I also thought it was so weird that people who were considered "lip sync assassins" on the Lalaparuzas in Seasons 14 and 15 were the ones who went home. Both situations were always a surprising turnout, but not necessarily one that I felt good about. (Although, Anetra choosing Jax at the end is a great twist made by a queen, and really was a great moment for Anetra's character). This is a long way of saying I wholeheartedly agree! the Season 16 format was a really nice change of pace. Like, it had no negatives. It was way more similar to the AS6 version. But I also don't think AS6 would have been as much fun if not for the Silky run. So S16 edges it out for me, at least when it comes from a production standpoint. Ultimately, the Lalaparuzas are so fun, and by having them be a chance for redemption instead of elimination is the way to go - both for the queens' sake and the audience's enjoyment. You know that no matter what, you're gonna get a good show and have a fun time. Everybody wins. (Even if not literally.)
The only very glaring flaw with the S16 lalaparuza was the format and the odd number choice for contestants (11): the 3-way lipsync winner from Round 1 getting a BYE for Round 2 and making to the Semifinals by default _AND THEN ON TOP OF THAT_ once in the Semifinals, at a random lottery spin, one queen would get ANOTHER BYE and make it automatically to the finale. Imagine if Megami had chosen Mhi'ya to get the semifinal BYE, Mhi'ya would've lipsynced 2 times in total (1st round & finale) whereas someone like Megami and Morphine would've lipsynced 4 times total (every single round)
I entered the fandom around the time all stars 2 was airing and from what i remember, (i may be wrong bc it was a long time ago) the lipstick picking twist was pretty contentious at the time. the Rolastatox discourse was heavy, no one enjoyed watching Roxxxy getting saved every week, but at the same time most fans understood if the queens went with the "correct" choice of who to leave then the twist would be pointless. I remember thinking at the time that its kind of a lose-lose twist that was likely created b/c the producers didn't want the heat for making hard decisions and eliminating fan favorites. In my personal opinion, I still think the responsibility of eliminating queens should have never fallen on the contestants. The fans have always been too viscous, it was never going to be a fun twist, its always a bummer. That's just what i remember though I'd love to hear from other fans who were around when it AS2 aired!!
Oh yeah, I remember Alaska and Roxxxy getting so much hate for AS2. Alaska for having sent home half the cast, and Roxxxy for getting dragged to the end. Alaska managed to turn it around by the time she got crowned, especially with her dropping one of the nastiest non-apology songs ever.

Ginger, but no international queens? The Vivienne, but no queens that went far on Allstars? Roxxy. Currently waiting for our twist of an international queen who’s never been on vs the world twist and international queen who Rupaul has never met twist
Yeah! It's great to see the assassins come back to put on a show, but there are no stakes. I love to see the queens come back, but there's gotta be a better way to implement it. It feels like it's just audience popcorn instead of having anything to do with the show or season, and that production is trying to trick us by pretending the results of the lip sync actually matter.
Hear me out… the assassin twist could work well on a vs the world season. It could allow more international queens to be showcased especially non English speaking franchises. I think that if a vs the world were to utilize this twist it would make a great season and help the reputation of the vs the world franchise. We could have so many more international girlies on one season this way. It also just feels like this twist fits better.
I'd kinda argue that the cracks of the whole lipstick picking twist started showing as early as AS2 E1 lmao. I'm not a coco stan by any margin, but she is kinda one of the best lipsyncers of the franchise, and she seemed to get screwed over at every turn in that 1st ep. She goes into the season having prepared her talent show performance to a licenced song which she gets told last minute that she can't do, and the one thing that could potentially save her from that would be to lipsync for her life. Except, she gets told While the episode is underway that LSFYL isnt happening this season so she's at the mercy of the other queens having just completely Flopped the talent show with no way to save herself, so, she was just fucked
I feel like the rate of queens ended up being kind of boring due to most of the queens not realizing they could vote themselves first and too many of them being afraid of going against the judges. If it had actually stayed around for more episodes and removed queens being able to vote for themselves, I think it could've been more interesting. A weekly posting of where queens landed due to votes could've stirred up drama.
Not totally relevant but I really want more people to be discussing Plane Jane being saved seemingly with no premise. No excuse given, just she stayed lol I haven’t seen anyone even raise an eyebrow
Great ranking video, don't think you need to be too worried about bringing up additional items as you go, it felt relevant and thorough - tbh i don't think you needed to list everything at the start but instead just one by one, that would fix any continuity issues as we viewers wouldn't realise you added things in retrospectively... Also wanna give you props for being brave to create on camera content, I could never. I think you are very good at this, agree with all your rankings 100% (glad you added CDR4 too), only thing I would say is don't doubt yourself, the disclaimers weren't needed
I'm sad that Rudemption Lip Sync Smackdown didn't comeback. It was so good. Since the all stars format, we don't have the chance to see some queens lip-sync. So it's always nice to see them perform again.
30:52 i think it might have been non-elimination because of who she saved, if she hadn’t saved nymphia it would probably be nymphia vs someone (likely dawn, q, or maybe mhiya) and eliminating nymphia for language barrier problems (as they’ve done with a few other people), especially if she didn’t know the lip sync song, would’ve been easy and probably what they would’ve done if they weren’t in love with nymphia the entire season because of her runways
Seeing all my favorite TH-camrs get the growth they deserve over the last year or so, and also seeing the small channels I’ve recently started watching blow up, is honestly so inspiring and it makes me really happy to see.
The AS7 blocking Twist also affected Trinity in the second episode. She was the first who got blocked and then she was Top2 for Snatch Game… Also Trinity was Top2 for 4 challenges (got three Stars) and Jaida was Top2 for 2 challenges and received the third Legendary Legend Star as a „gift“ by that „give one Star away“-Twist… Not to diminish Jaida in any way, but that Monét choose TTT over Jaida was fair af and not just based on their alliance…
bringing back queens actual worked out once in season 14! deya came back and went all the way to the finale which is impressive even if she didn't win the crown. i also thought it was hilarious that she was so pissed that there were so many non eliminations when she was **technically** the 2nd non eliminated. like out of ALL the people on that season, she's the one complaining lolol. even though she wasn't my favorite, she was a strong competitor (when she came back) and gave most of the drama.
Unsure if it counts as a twist but I loved the single day ball challenge on uk3, it was at least a twist on how challenges work. Coincidentally the twist that made the least sense was U.K. 3 e1 having two sets of lipsyncs with the bottom 2’s being better
On the immunity potion twist from 16, I’d add an extra twist that is in reference to “Death Becomes Her”. For example, they could have made the two queens that drank have to use a recycled look or no body augmentation (padding) for the makeover challenge.
The chocolate bars is a frustrating one for me… it could and really SHOULD have been a good thing, but then Ru went and fucked it up by making the chocolate bar completely moot. It didn’t matter AT ALL because they didn’t send anyone home all freaking season anyway. If queens had been going home every episode, the chocolate bar twist could have been super fun and we’d all be on the edge of our seats.
With rate a queen I would consider it back for an all stars season; if they ever go back to eliminations the drama it would cause because alliances/nemeses would make it go so good
another twist i really liked was the way they went through the lalaparooza in canada's drag race. it is obvious that production wants a strong lip sync to end the episode so both in s14 and s15, they has 2 lip sync assassins in the bottom which didn't make sense. love that they fixed this issue in canada by having lip syncs for the win instead
I also thought they didn’t bring Kornbread back because she injured herself of her own accord if that makes sense? Same with Victoria Scone. They both did things unprompted by production (the Kornbread fall, the Scone knee slide) but Eureka injured herself whilst doing a (let’s face it) very dangerous challenge.
Also shout out to Canada season 4’s lip sync tournament as well! Before US season 16, it was probably the best iteration of the format to date in my opinion. Canada season 4 was just overall a fantastic season save for the lackluster finale
Watching this back for like the third time I think, I realized Rate-A-Queen could actually be very interesting for an All Stars season. Sure, some people would be less than impartial if they have friends or enemies competing alongside them, but it could also create some very juicy drama if the ratings are displayed every week and it's done until say top 5 or 4, and as long as the judges keep it to 3 in the top, 3 in the bottom. As long as it's not done on the ball. Holy shit that was a bad decision, how does anyone even rank that many looks?
Kenya came back because they were planning on saving Sh*ron and Phi Phi after the "it's raining men" lip sync. It made no sense to lose either of them before the finale and even if William wasn't disqualified William wouldn't have gone home. But the makeover needs five queens so they probably just got the first queen they could to come back
I liked the way the Season 15 opener did a spin on the split premiere, it didn’t really have a huge impact on the season as a whole, but it was an interesting new way to present it
The handmaids to kitty girls was actually better done on France S2. There were two groups, the top 5 and the eliminated ones, but here, the worst of the top 5 lipsynced against the best of the eliminated ones, and the winner of the lipsync got to stay/re-enter, while the loser went home.
Thailand season 2 bringing back Kana and Kandy a few episodes before the finale, making the top three consist of two queens who had already been eliminated and one queen who had been doing well all season, was an interesting twist cause it made it very clear Angele was going to win before the finale even aired lol but i guess thats what happenes when production does two seperate double sashays and a disqualification all in the same season
blatant chocolate bar apologist because the its chocolate...... too funny to hate. also i think bosco deserved the golden bar... even if it was rigged!!!!!! idec!!!!!!!
The season 3 girl group challenge could work if it was: choose a top 2 of eliminated queens, and a bottom 2 or 3 from the remaining queens. The top 2 eliminated queens lipsync. Winner gets to come back, and choose one of the bottom remainings to be eliminated. That would be fair and could still be gaggy
I will maintain until and past my dying breath that THE ONLY thing that would have improved Season 16 is if they had brought back Irene Dubois in a surprise twist Episode 2. Can you imagine her interacting with Amanda?! Gagged.
My unpopular opinion is that Shangela was never that entertaining and had a generally grating personality and I wasn't sad she lost all stars 3. I think she had some great moments throughout her 3 runs on the show, but I was just never obsessed like everyone else.
I will always be against the queens picking who gets eliminated because the bottom 2 or 3 never get to fight for a chance to stay. They just have to beg and hope that the queen who wins feels like it was enough or isn't besties with the other people in the bottom
But that’s because it’s All Stars. They already had the chance to showcase themselves in their original season, for winning All Stars it requires more than simply do well in the challenges.
I don’t understand why the jury of peers is seen so negatively by people, with the main reason being “if the queens knew ahead of time, it would have been more fair.” Like wouldn’t it just have made the queens come off as inauthentic??? I don’t know. Biased because I’m a Trixie fan obviously, but I still think yall hate on this one too much for no GOOD reason. Also this probably didn’t fit the video but the way they changed the lalaparuza for Canada 4 was really cool. So the losing queens didn’t have to get bogged down by loss after loss after loss.
I love the videos, because it's all just the opinion of the TH-camr, and they bring it as if it is all factual haha. I want to respond to basically everything... and that makes these videos nice :)

She goes into the season having prepared her talent show performance to a licenced song which she gets told last minute that she can't do, and the one thing that could potentially save her from that would be to lipsync for her life. Except, she gets told While the episode is underway that LSFYL isnt happening this season so she's at the mercy of the other queens having just completely Flopped the talent show with no way to save herself, so, she was just fucked
i love hearing you yapping about drag
I feel like the rate of queens ended up being kind of boring due to most of the queens not realizing they could vote themselves first and too many of them being afraid of going against the judges. If it had actually stayed around for more episodes and removed queens being able to vote for themselves, I think it could've been more interesting. A weekly posting of where queens landed due to votes could've stirred up drama.
Not totally relevant but I really want more people to be discussing Plane Jane being saved seemingly with no premise. No excuse given, just she stayed lol I haven’t seen anyone even raise an eyebrow
And nymphia on the same episode. AND on snatch game. No say did morphine do worse than her.
Love this style of video! I wouldn't mind seeing more rankings whether you're on or off camera ❤
Congrats on 101! I lvoe thia concept for the vid
Jack cooked, JackFed
So it's always nice to see them perform again.
like this format a lot!
She was the first who got blocked and then she was Top2 for Snatch Game…
Also Trinity was Top2 for 4 challenges (got three Stars) and Jaida was Top2 for 2 challenges and received the third Legendary Legend Star as a „gift“ by that „give one Star away“-Twist…
Not to diminish Jaida in any way, but that Monét choose TTT over Jaida was fair af and not just based on their alliance…
pls we need the collab w runner eye
bringing back queens actual worked out once in season 14! deya came back and went all the way to the finale which is impressive even if she didn't win the crown. i also thought it was hilarious that she was so pissed that there were so many non eliminations when she was **technically** the 2nd non eliminated. like out of ALL the people on that season, she's the one complaining lolol. even though she wasn't my favorite, she was a strong competitor (when she came back) and gave most of the drama.
I wish Irene doubois and kornbread were brought back !
I honestly think the chocolate bar twist would have worked if there wasn't so many non-eliminations on that season.
Oh what a delight to have JackFed video today! Hope you have a wonderful day, JackFed!
Unsure if it counts as a twist but I loved the single day ball challenge on uk3, it was at least a twist on how challenges work. Coincidentally the twist that made the least sense was U.K. 3 e1 having two sets of lipsyncs with the bottom 2’s being better
When they introduced ' queen eliminated each other ' in All stars 2 - that was a game changer imo
As4 lalaparuza is my fav personally
Thank you for pointing out the immunity potion twist as pointless. It really pissed me off. Such wasted potential.
I’m surprised the lip sync for the crown isn’t on this considering how different it was when it first appeared
You're up there with the best rpfr content! Love your explanation of things & twist in video l
On the immunity potion twist from 16, I’d add an extra twist that is in reference to “Death Becomes Her”. For example, they could have made the two queens that drank have to use a recycled look or no body augmentation (padding) for the makeover challenge.
Congrats on 100k!
The chocolate bars is a frustrating one for me… it could and really SHOULD have been a good thing, but then Ru went and fucked it up by making the chocolate bar completely moot. It didn’t matter AT ALL because they didn’t send anyone home all freaking season anyway. If queens had been going home every episode, the chocolate bar twist could have been super fun and we’d all be on the edge of our seats.
man I loved the dirty lipsync
The casual one so terrify
With rate a queen I would consider it back for an all stars season; if they ever go back to eliminations the drama it would cause because alliances/nemeses would make it go so good
Hey Jack love you and your content keep up the good work.
Good luck with school/college 😄
Omg I swear your eyes are so pretty
Wow, you smile in the intro is literally blinding! Sending you all the love coz your videos are amazing!
🥰🥰🥰
The actual tier list starts at 6:23 for people that wanna skip majority of the chatter .
another twist i really liked was the way they went through the lalaparooza in canada's drag race. it is obvious that production wants a strong lip sync to end the episode so both in s14 and s15, they has 2 lip sync assassins in the bottom which didn't make sense. love that they fixed this issue in canada by having lip syncs for the win instead
jack rlly fed us this time
I also thought they didn’t bring Kornbread back because she injured herself of her own accord if that makes sense? Same with Victoria Scone. They both did things unprompted by production (the Kornbread fall, the Scone knee slide) but Eureka injured herself whilst doing a (let’s face it) very dangerous challenge.
Also shout out to Canada season 4’s lip sync tournament as well! Before US season 16, it was probably the best iteration of the format to date in my opinion. Canada season 4 was just overall a fantastic season save for the lackluster finale
6:26 *screams in Daya Betty*
all i can say is that megami is one of my favorite queens of all time and i want to see her on all stars asap.
31:32 : Gold
Kenya came back because they were planning on saving Sh*ron and Phi Phi after the "it's raining men" lip sync. It made no sense to lose either of them before the finale and even if William wasn't disqualified William wouldn't have gone home. But the makeover needs five queens so they probably just got the first queen they could to come back
Love Kenya btw amazing performer and I want her back for all stars!!
Why are 5 queens necessary for the make over? They did it with 3 queens in AS8.
@@kev7600they planned for to 5 makeover guests
@@benjaminmcelroy6894kenya no longer does drag and has transitioned
@@benjaminmcelroy6894so she can go home first?
Jack we love your face. You’re the trade of the drag race channels!
Sometimes I get lost in his eyes and have to rewind to catch up on what he's saying 😂😂😂
I liked the way the Season 15 opener did a spin on the split premiere, it didn’t really have a huge impact on the season as a whole, but it was an interesting new way to present it
You have such a lovely voice, I enjoy listening to you!
The Rate A Queen twist felt exactly like The Circle!
The handmaids to kitty girls was actually better done on France S2. There were two groups, the top 5 and the eliminated ones, but here, the worst of the top 5 lipsynced against the best of the eliminated ones, and the winner of the lipsync got to stay/re-enter, while the loser went home.
I 👀 the amazing album sitting in the background. Golden Hour was a serve.
congrats father on 100k ❤❤❤
29:20 it was aired after regular ep only if I'm not wrong
Thailand season 2 bringing back Kana and Kandy a few episodes before the finale, making the top three consist of two queens who had already been eliminated and one queen who had been doing well all season, was an interesting twist cause it made it very clear Angele was going to win before the finale even aired lol but i guess thats what happenes when production does two seperate double sashays and a disqualification all in the same season
Mama, kudos for over 100k followers, for creating.
blatant chocolate bar apologist because the its chocolate...... too funny to hate. also i think bosco deserved the golden bar... even if it was rigged!!!!!! idec!!!!!!!
I think the AS2-4 format is great for smaller seasons, cause it creates two winners each episode which makes the track records tighter
Gagged.
how freaking cute / hot / adorable are You @JackFed ? and yesss I cant wait to see you and #RunnerEye working together ! Greetings from Australia !
I completely forgot about the Fame Games, omg!
I have never seen some sit there, so casually
My unpopular opinion is that Shangela was never that entertaining and had a generally grating personality and I wasn't sad she lost all stars 3. I think she had some great moments throughout her 3 runs on the show, but I was just never obsessed like everyone else.
After everything that’s happened, you’re definitely better off having never liked her.
we see you stanning mother musgraves!!!
Yesss new video!!
My only problem with Rate A Queen was that Nymphia wasn't in the top for the talent show.
u forgot the top two acting challenge so there are actually 7 non elimination episodes in season 14😭😭
What a casual video
Ignoring shanel amd only talking about roxxy coming back for as9 is funny
