Video helped me realise I'm going to buy a different brand to replace my leaky GE

Haha! Yeah, I went with a whirlpool with the 3rd rack. We really like it after a couple years.

Thanks for for the video. Mine has same problem, and I came up with same conclusion, 10 years old, time for new dishwasher

Hey @brianharris8385 - yeah that’s unfortunately the reality of appliances. You can only keep them going for so long before it’s not worth it any more. Thanks for watching!

I have a similar 10 year old GE DW that also had a leak in the sump area. Did what you did pulled the unit and ran it outside the cupboard on blocks. Mine was leaking from that rubberish sump boot on the top. It's a $25 dollar part and was going to replace it. Further inspection of the rubber parts showed all of them had similar breakdown. The rubber along the edges of the course filter (inside of the tub) is all gummy sticky and crumbly. That part is no longer available. I don't trust any of the rubber parts on this machine at this point. Destined for the dump. Thanks for the vid.

Yeah, you can’t fix ‘em all. At some point you have to cut your losses.

Price for the rubber o-ring kit that is leaking is approximately $20. All it takes is removing and separating the pump and motor and replacing the seal. Saves you having to BUY a new dishwasher!!! But it does require that you are savvy enough to tackle the job.. Did my GE dishwasher and works great, NO MORE leaks and saved a LOT of money $$$$$$$$!!!

Hi Rudy Mondragon- thanks for the comment. Your fix is certainly an option and it’s WAY cheaper than what I did. After this leak took its toll on my flooring, I wasn’t very interested in making a repair to a 10+ year old dishwasher. I didn’t want to risk any floor damage here and ceiling damage below. Plus, over the years this thing lost all of its sound insulation and roared like tractor. That definitely weighed on my decision too. Thanks for watching!

Similar on my side but water came from the safety drain on top. Limb out just not running or not pumping water out of the bottom of dishwasher

Thanks for the comment. It seems that leaks in that area are eventually inevitable. Did you fix or replace the unit?

Hey Pat Lv- I’m glad the video helped. I’m really glad we replaced that unit. It was time for an upgrade anyway! Good luck to you! Ps- if you get a whirlpool, I have an installation video of my install.
