I grew up watching the 80's stars... I sure hated them pistons but I really enjoyed watching Isaiah play. He was a good team member and he took a lot of heat for other players. He took it with grace.... I sure hate that he didn't get to be a part of the Dream Team. I always felt he should have been there.

Great commentary. When Isiah talked about Bird's iconic steal, when I saw that for the first time years ago, I never thought, "Isiah screwed up." I saw it from the perspective of how crafty Bird was in setting that up. He planned that out perfectly. It's not a detraction from the greatness of Isiah but another clutch moment from Bird the crafty genius.

As a kid growing up in Boston in the 80s I can say that I absolutely despised Isiah Thomas… I remember rooting for the Lakers that first year that Detroit beat us. Looking back on those battles what I realize now is that I didn’t actually despise him (certainly we are only talking about the player - we didn’t have the internet back then so we had no idea what he was actually like as a person) I was intimidated by him and maybe just a little bit jealous.
Thomas was in that category of player like Magic, like MJ, like Sir Charles; he had the ability and the finesse to be able to make something positive happen for his team every single time he had the ball. I have enormous respect for him now. Same for John Salley. Same for Joe Dumars. Same for Dennis Rodman… Laimbeer - no - that guy should have walked on the court with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan every night! He added nothing to that team but his two hundred something pound, a-moral body.

The other thing people do not know is that Isiah's family looked out for Jordan when he first came to Chicago and Jordan's brother and Isiah's sister were friends and hung out back then and the kicker is that Isiah's nephew back then lived with Jordan in the summer.

@E DUB u see me as that.. yes, I am. The dude has been on a pity tour for decades about that man. Mike doesn't express it at all but only on the last dance series. Both guys are assholes but both have something in common, and that's the competitive drive. Those two hated losing to each other.
Only they could solve this long-time issue and move on. I'm that Chicago kid that lived thru the series n want it squashed.

Isiah's really good at selling BS, and being personable, but most people know he's got that other side, and he does try to manipulate the narrative on things to get it in the direction he wants it to go.
