In this episode I mess around with the Mark IV Spaceplane System mod which adds in selection of parts for building giant planes in the Mark 2 style.

Try using SAS while flying. It should make flying easier.
This mod, especially the updated version, is wonderful. I have always wanted a plane larger than the Mk3 for tasks like station building.

Ah yes, the mark IV space plane parts.
AKA the one that can hold enough fuel to easily be be SSTO even if you include several cargo bays for your satellite.
Also looks sweet. And works well with the repulsors mod...

You can hold alt to disable surface attachment to make hardpoint mode easier.
Press and hold left alt to turn off surface attachment, makes it way easier to put stuff on cargo

In the passenger container they could texture it like the hitchhiker container. With draws for food, snakes, refuse, rubbish, trash. also science experiments and other cool things
The Snoopy thing was hysterical! mostly how you said it too
Everyone says it looks like Thunderbird but the Firefly resemblance wont go away for me.
I miiiight have to come back from my KSP hiatus to make another shuttle with these babies!

No doubt about it, this WILL be in the game soon, seeing they added all the mk 3 and mk 2 things from the mods and the similar drone core design. The only drone core which we are waiting on right now is the mi3 one

Good for everyone, since spaceplane parts usually make good starship parts as well
In my heavily modded saves, I make sure to include this for easy base making. My standard design is a plane that can take 12 Kerbal s (1 cockpit and 1 crew cabin) to eeloo and back no mining pretty easily. I normally stuff a base into a large cargo bay, orbital or surface. It’s capable of landing on most spots on Eve and returning to Kerbin. I always make sure to have a mining rover just Incase I strand myself because as you might expect, rescuing 12 Kerbals from other solar systems (mods) is pretty difficult. Overall, this mod is great for long distance cargo hauling missions and I would recommend it in any modded save
please revisit this if you have not, this was one of my first ( and fav) mods, the vertical cargo bay is mind blowing!
in case your part that you hold on your mouse isnt connecting correctly onto the part you want it to put on, hold Alt, it will dissable hitboxes and you just have to align the green connection points for them to connect. ^^

Alt doesn't disable hitboxes, it disables surface attach.

***** Yes, which is accomplished by turning off surface attach. You and I are essentially using different terms that mean the same thing.
You can transfer crew members to another vessel using the context menu ;D

You should look at the mod lacks stock alike planes or something like that it allows you to make giant planes while staying stock alike

lol you can hold alt to disable surface snap so you can attatch your parts to connection nodes easier
The plane reminds me of something from Rescue Heroes
Just a tip press ALT when place something with a node and it will only place on nodes

This looks so much like the Thunderbird 2
IMHO, it looks, and works, better when tweak-scaled to 3.75 meters. Being able to store HX, 3.75 M, and Mk3 parts inside is a significant advantage.
interesting, I've never really thought of tweak-scaling plane parts like these. I'll have to give it a whirl.

oh and befor you put the rest on make sure the wings are on the back dose that look like a plane youve seen befor ?
put the drone core around the middle of the bay of the plane so that you can have 2 docking ports in the middle of the craft in addition to having a drone core.
It really looks like a white Thunderbird 2. I'm surprised Kotta didn't make the comparison.
PTNLemay The creator of the mod - Nertea on the KSP forums - has straight up admitted that Thunderbird 2 was the inspiration for the Mk IV parts. In fact I've made a straight up homage to TB2. It's on the Kerbal X craft sharing site if you're interested. :D

Kottabos - you should do an updated review of the Mk IV Parts system. The creator, Nertea, did a SERIOUS update about a month back. And the parts and the carrying capacity are even BIGGER now!

It needs the whole runway to take off because the gear placement isn't great and needs the drop at the end of the runway to pitch up, not because it is heavy and needs lots of speed. :P

Someone could build a massive spaceplane to go to laythe, then fly into the atmosphere and switch the engines to jet mode, roll a rover out of the back of the thing through the rear cargo ramp, then engage rocket mode again go back to space while the rover parachutes down :D

I tried building a spaceplane with this mod and no matter what I try, it falls apart halfway down the runway.

THUNDERBIRD 2 COCKPIT
I built the MKIV and I got this "The Launch pad can't support vessels heavier than 34028232346638529000000000000000000000t total mass is NaNt" Anyone have any clue what this means and why I am getting this?
Kitsunemeowsu it means the weight is reading as invalid, and we now know, thanks to this bug, that the sandbox has a maximum weight on the launchpad.
well I just uninstalled everything and reloaded it with out certain mods and it fixed it self with out having intstellerextended loaded
