Bar pie is a style of pizza, thin crust. Not necessarily just from a bar...
@@khl2445 Bar pie and tavern style pizzerias almost always began as bars which would also sell pizzas, hence Max & Issy's, which started out as mainly a bar, then transformed into a pizzeria once it became their most popular offering. Now it's a pizzeria situated inside of a very large bar. Dave is obviously painfully oblivious of this fact, even though he said it in the video lol.

Definitely an 8.1 because I’ve never seen Dave take so many bites before AND after giving the score. The internal struggle 😄
It ends up being better for the owner than and 8.1 score because it got tagged with a quote for the higher score and its unique. Great job Dave
It was inbetween a 7.9 and 8.1. Dave can’t for the life of him give out an 8 flat. And before you come at me with “eehhh rookie score”, Dave flopped on his initial rating.

That’s CRAZY. After the first few bites and he continued I KNEW this was an 8+ pizza, then he continued to a SECOND SLICE, I was like okay if this isn’t an 8.2+ imma be pissed, then the chirping from the audience had him say “I’m debating between a big score” and I was like, bro no fucking way is this a 7.9, no way, this is in the 8s easily….. “7.9” bruhhhhhh
I also felt disapointed with the score!
Exactly how my brain reacted as I watched this. “Shit, is this going to be an 8.3 or something? He keeps eating!” At least he knew he fucked them at the end. Pie looks pretty phenomenal and is going to get a lot of love from the local crowd because of this.

Nah man the flop was too big, can't flop out like that when he picks it up. The crisp only started after he was halfway done with the pizza. If the entire slice had the crisp the crust had it'd be a 8.2/8.3 but with that type of flop just can't see it above 7.9
That pizza couldn't have been more floppy, give me a fkn break...Dave even implied b4hand he liked the guy. He greased the score. Floppy ass pizza doesn't deserve higher than a 7.4
Admitting that you’re wrong only builds character. You didn’t f*** them! You blessed them! People know it’s a great pizza! People make mistakes and that’s life. You just showed a perfect life example of how life can be. We only see what we want right away, but after taking another look some of us can find the beauty of things

To me that looks like old school, hand tossed, thin but not cracker crust and not "thin crust" either. That's likely why it's a bit floppy because it's so lite, but yeah, it looked and sounded very good. 7.9 with the flop is probably correct, without flop easily an 8.1 (or higher.)

Flop isn't always flop. To me this pizza is so thin that it would have to be burnt to not "flop" at it's point. I am a thin crust guy. And when I make homemade pizza I roll the dough so thin you can see thru it to the pan. It's always floppy, but crispy.
I would have to say credit should be given for the normal pizza box in Chicago! 😂

I literally guessed 7.9 once he said "big score" on the Chicago scale. My range was 7.9 - 8.2. It's scary how easy it is to tell what Dave is thinking after watching thousands of these reviews.
I love the “it plays stronger” line. I’ve been critical of Dave’s seemingly biased Chicago scores but this one is 100% real and respectable.

Dave’s had regrets about the score he’s given many times most notably the Jacks Coal Fire Pizza that he scored low thinking it was a chain, later admitting in the video how badly he’d screwed them when he couldn’t stop eating it.
This really does look like the best looking pizza I've seen on Dave's reviews.

He did a review in Arizona where im from so ofcourse I had try one of the highest scored places Crust Brothers on Shea and Scottsdale. Delicious 🤤. Even the Caesar dressing for the ceaser salad was delicious.

If you ever get back to Port Chester, NY., try Antonio's Pizza on Grace Church St. I haven't had it in years and it used to be great. But it may have new owners or at least new pizza makers so it may or may not be as good as I remember. Also, if you're ever in Bethel, CT., I recommend Grassy Plain Pizza.
On the off chance Dave sees this, we always liked Renaldi's in Wrigleyville and D'agostinos in River North for thin crust. Both are worth while.
I respect it.. he knows he'll be coming by for more pizza in the area and he cant just give out a high score. he did say for Chicago it was a hard find. Leaving room for others to come in and compete.

It's in the 7s. It's a tavern prepped like a New York. So you get the thin tavern crust but the cheese and sauce of a NYC. Probably no provolone, all Mozz where taverns are a blend.
