@@AS-ld5mz the scoby releasing bits and pieces into the kombucha is normal, and will happen with almost every kombucha scoby, and the darkness of the scoby will depend on the tea that you use. Darker teas make darker scobys.
@@freshlyfermented9273 I bought 2 from you on is dark and the other is light. Heard that they get dark when thy get older, just wanted to know your views. Am using same tea all the time
I enjoyed the flavour calendar very much as someone brewing in the UK at these lower temps. Gave me some confidence thanks
Great to hear! It's great to hear you liked the flavour calendar, its a really good point of reference to follow for first time fermenters!
Am I missing something or have you not indicated how much tea leaves to use?
On their webpage instructions it says 10 grams per liter. So about two teabags.
kombucha does not need air to ferment?
Is filtered water really necessary?
What temperature do you recommend the sweet tea be at when adding the scoby?
You want it around room tempereature really, so around 21C. that works best! you don't want to add it to hot, as it will kill the scoby.
@@freshlyfermented9273 Thank you
Can you reuse the scoby?
You can reuse a scoby until the day you die! as long as you keep feeding it it will go on forever!
@@freshlyfermented9273 but it gets darker and it releases bits and pieces , still healthy even if dark?
