That Hell Up In Harlem soundtrack is the bomb bebe, Big Popa, Contact, Happy Radio & War yes he's underrated for sure. He deserves to be voted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame and a star 🌟 paid on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
His best work was with Ric Tic. He did a lot for other soul artists, he raised money for Jackie Wilson when he was in intensive care and he brought Sidney Barnes and JJ Barnes over to play with him at Northern Soul events in the UK. I got to see him at one of these shows. Thanks for an excellent post
Agent Double-O Soul, Stop Her On Sight, Twenty Five Miles, War, I Love You Forever with The Holidays, Stop The War are my favorite by Edwin Starr, keep them coming, man.
Thanx for all the work you put in to bringing this legends back to life!! You really do a great job. Wondering if you could feature the soulful group Enchantment on an upcoming show? Thanx in advance!!
I live in Polesworth, Warwickshire, England where Edwin Starr lived for many years, I walk past his old house regularly, my mum met him a few times and spoke about how lovely he was in person
It's impossible to give just one Edwin Starr track, so, here's some off the top of my head. 1) Back Street (1965) on Ric-Tic. 2) Agent 00-Soul (1966) Reo rec. 3) Time (1970) Gordy promo. etc etc etc etc. l love this channel 🙏
Edwin Starr was a hero on the UK Northern Soul circuit. People adored him. That's probably why he chose to live here. There is a mural of him in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, not far from where he lived.
I have been a supporter of yours since the beginning. You have really grown, you keep getting better. You have 40k, wow I’m excited for you! War and there you go was my jams! I would really like for you to do a video on the Emotions Please and thank you 😂May he be Resting In Peace 💐💐💐💐
Not sure if this was mentioned yet but I read somewhere that the Reason why WAR was a massive hit was because Edwin Starr wasn't known at the time and back then The Temptations was obviously one of the greatest groups on the planet. War was not released as a single for them. Yea they recorded it first but Gordy didn't know what type of hype he would get it. And felt that he didn't want their name tarnished. So that's why Edwin Starr version is the popular one. Although Dennis Edwards packed his punch but I don't think it charted.
