    After catching this Brook Trout I am definitely excited to continue hiking and four wheeling to these high elevation mountain lakes!
    There are approximately 80 fishable lakes or ponds on this mountain making it a playground for Anglers in search of trophy brook, cutthroat, tiger, or rainbow trout. There is a maze of off-road vehicle roads that get you to most. There are a few that are only accessible by foot. It's the hiking lakes that interests me the most!
    Some of these trips will be 4x4 adventures, overland, since some of these roads are near impassable. Luckily my Toyota T100 has undergone some improvements allowing for better off-road capabilities. Other trips will be all about backpacking and spending the night at some of these most remote mountain lakes!

    Absolutely wonderful. What a gorgeous looking trout! I love to cook on the GSI Bugaboo skillet myself man. Good eats and a fun drive in made the trip worth it I'm sure. That's great that the Sheriff knew you, even better that he drove back to ya. Lol. Argh! You need a fly rod! Those fish were rising to a fly hatch. You can get a lightweight packable fly rod to take with you in addition to your spinning gear. You would certainly increase your chances of success. Cheers! :) Nice Brookie BTW. They sure are pretty in their spawning colors.

    Beautiful Brook Trout! You probably know this but Brookies aren't trout. They're a Char like a Lake Trout or a Dollie Varden and taste far better than a trout.

      By the way, during the time of year you caught that brookie, fish the downwind shore unless you are fishing a feeder stream. They will be there to greet you.

      MattsAnimations you might want to read up on UT regulations. "A fish hooked anywhere other than the mouth must be released immediately. The only exceptions are at Lake Powell (where you may use a gaff to
      land striped bass), Bear Lake (where you may snag Bonneville cisco) and any waterbody where there is a catch-and-kill regulation for the fish you snag."

    • @EivindKreyHanssen
      @EivindKreyHanssen 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fish shown above, with a red belly, is Char. Not Trout. That's all, you are amongst some youtubers from the US i've come across latelly, that call it a Trout. ;)

    • @fireboxstove
      @fireboxstove  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm very sorry my friend, but what I caught was absolutely a brook trout. I have no idea what "Char" is but if it looks like a brook trout I think I would like to catch one!

    • @chanceifer5600
      @chanceifer5600 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Char is also in the salmonoid family, Your fish was definitely a Brookie or square tail. Try dredging it in equal parts flour and cornmeal and frying it in butter or bacon fat. Also good dredged in potato flakes and cooked the same. And leave the tail on, it's the best part. Love the vids.

    • @chanceifer5600
      @chanceifer5600 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Salmonoid: noun any fish belonging to the suborder Salmonoidea, esp any of the family Salmonidae (salmon, trout, char)
