Gonna give extra context here cause I just kinda rambled a lot in this video. Didn't make a script just some points I wanted to hit.
This video isn't made to flame Bushiroad. This is me objectively going over what I find frustrating about how Vanguard is being handled. Please do not go attack Bushiroad or their employees.
Do I still love the game? Yes
Will I keep making content for the game? Yes, My next set of videos I'm really proud of and I have a lot more things I would like to do!
Would I recommend others to this game? Probably not
As someone who built their whole channel on helping out newer players. I cannot in good conscious recommend Vanguard over other games on the market right now because of the issues I go over in the video. If these issues have no signs of getting fixed in the next year there is a good chance I pivot to a different game as my main game and the thing I make content on. Vanguard as a franchise I will always love dearly. This is a last ditch effort to try to see real change from Bushiroad, especially since Kidani said they were gonna take a focus on global this year. We are almost in May and nothing has changed.
Thank you for watching/reading. I appreciate it.

The whole promo situation is just dumb, i mean, why can't Bushiroad just make promos as alt art reprints of popular cards?
In regards to the energy generator being in only one place with the TDs, its counter intuitive. Why make a card, that everyone needs to play the game, only available in one place?
Overtriggers still are one of the worst things to happen to this game(except the 50k shield value).

As someone from year 1, they used to do this in G-Z format because we've already had this issue before hand but I guess with them killing the game by making the dogshit standard format they thought they could repeat history since all us o.g.s left

I really appreciate you talking about the state of the game. Being a main premium player has been like being in an abusive relationship. I am dying for any new cards. No word on V clan selections. No word of premium support that supports all the clans. It's been so ass.

      @456jm 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah I stopped keeping up with Premium and V Premium when I realized that Bushiroad had no desire to run official in-person tournaments / events for those formats and refused to adopt ARG's tournament structure which was FAR superior to theirs because following Anime / Manga rules was more important for them.
My locals never fully recovered from the player base we had before COVID-19 hit and we stopped getting Organized Play kits from Bushiroad let alone new Cardfight!! Vanguard product for that matter since our distributor has been blind boxing us for the last several years.

Honestly, Bushi should just make every single generic card a RR or lower. Right now, these generics are in high demand, but there's a huge lack of supply. This makes it easy for scalpers to resell cards for a ridiculous amount. By lowering the rarity, there is no artificial scarcity being placed on them anymore for scalpers to take advantage of. Once Bushi removes generics from the RRR pool, they will have more RRR slots to provide support for older decks.

I quit YGO for Vanguard back in 2012. It's been a great time for the most part until somewhat recently. Even having a job, I couldn't justify paying what some of the secondary market scalpers are asking for stuff that my favorite decks require. Bushiroad keeps making very NECESSARY cards into promos, and if you don't have the schedule or the shops holding events locally (like me), you have no access to those promos apart from TCGplayer and similar sites. I can't get the Rorowa Promo I need, at the time of posting this, without shelling out what equates to my weekly grocery budget. This has made me consider just dropping the game entirely. For all the love I have for Vanguard, it's the secondary market that's making me hate it. I posted this comment when (Edit: I Had watched up to about the 17 minute mark, then you yourself mentioned Rorowa having the stupidly spendy promo. I feel seen. XD)

i agree wth what has been said, I’ve been taking break in vg for this year to focus on sve, seeing all this has felt that break was good timing with how certain products, this big gap in the dz sets and stuff just lowered the push to play really, i still can’t push self to buy the quick start deck, i love vg and played it on and off for all these years but after playing a lot of tcgs between start 2023 and now to try new and current going ones and explore i already feel the pain in areas of vg and where we can get better and that would help this tcg.
the vg tourney structure definitely needs to follow the others, even sve has the structure in there showdown series that top 32, top 16, top 8 and top 4 and higher all get stuff and i can see if sve gets bigger jump then i can see us going to top 64, top 100 .
The pr curse is biggest pain , while ago i brought latest dark state pr girl and i just felt empty after like no hype for the purchase as deep i knew id have to get another hard to obtain pr downline. i still hate the 2 clans every 8 weeks release prs
last year i could possibly tell person to play vg, but now i can’t really tell person to invest in it currently , id tell to play another tcg or if they really wanted to i just say V era or play casually and proxy energy generator.
regalia piece is crud as they are and i have not brought any since chalice and sanctitude.
every bushi tcg needs to give at worlds and allregionals everyone in top 3 a prize and could be 4th also, as you said and has been said, 2nd or 8th is nothing except see yourself on site but leave with nothing
part feels i never want to leave vg as it was the tcg that helped see new friends and go new places but if things can’t go better i feel ill just put it on level of ‘tcg i only bring locals or play if a friend says they bringing it’ other than that ill just play other stuff that feel rewarding

It’s crazy how decks in this game are becoming comparable to (non snake eyes) Yugioh decks in price despite VG having a fraction of its relevancy. Bushi seems to actively want to be more anti consumer than Konami and it’s impressive how they’ve been successful at it.

I sold out last year, I have 1 deck left and no intention of playing. I was tired of this bad company and honestly don't understand why the vanguard players still allow this
Decks are being left behind, genetic support is ridiculously priced. You can pay all that money and practice and lose at an 8 round BCS because someone overtrigged you. And the tournament organisation is horror
The prizes are incredibly top heavy, the participation prizes are bad,.you either pull a bad card no one uses or a money card
The promo problem is wild, they love printing bad double rares then they'll print insane promo's
Bushiroad do no check ups on stores. We have locals who will not hand out promo cards and sell them secretly
Pull rates are jank. Everyone I knew from overdress set 1-3 loved buying cases because you get 2 playsets of everything but now everyone is avoiding buying cases
Why can't vanguard players open their eyes and see how much bushiroad don't care about their game

Would also like to mention that the shop promo issue is a community rooted problem as well. Alot of shop owners are selling the promos as singles instead of distributing them properly.
Prices in my country is 1/3 if that in tcg player during the whole broken toys fiasco. Reason is every shop wss distributing them properly.
My western friend stated that alot of the cardshops abroad are listing them in tcg player and not dostributing them. Big problem

    • @Anthony-yy6vb
      @Anthony-yy6vb 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Thing is, these promos are useless to 80% of the players. Like if the promo is Broken toys and none of the winners use Tamayura ( cause it sucked without Broken toys and wasn't that good with it either) then they just won a useless promo. What ends up happening is that they sell it back to shop for store creddit or a trade of something they DO want, and in the end the shop resells the promo anyway.
VG is NOT a good game for these kinds of promos because decks are super xenophobic to cards outside their archetype or outright unable to be used with cards outside their nation. It's not a community problem, the design of the game creates this behavior. More times than not, whatever promo we get is not going to be useable by the winning decks by the nature of them being the winning decks. You weren't going to see tamayura top at locals consistently to win broken toys, nor were any of the Glitter decks for example.

@@Anthony-yy6vb funny thing is this is how cardshops are designed in japan yet the shop pr promo was an english problem.
The only time prs were expensive were when they were monthly bushiroad exclusives.
Shops who dont give away the promos are still practicing bad behavior.
The 60% price difference of the card in tcgplayer and in western countries vs locally in south east asia can be mind boggling sometimes.
50 dollar broken toys in tcg player vs 18-20 dollars is a big difference

The worst thing for EN is the buyouts OMG. I just cant keep up with that I wanted the Minerva order thats draw 2 for a deck of mine. I was planning of buying it once I got payed this week with some other cards and low and behold a buyout happened out of nowhere. I was stunted, I was watching it just a few days ago at 20cents now its 6+ like holy f... The worst thing EN is so inconcistent with releases as you said that I know I am gonna now just have to buy it at that price, since even if they announced a reprint of it as I saw, we arent sure when we will even get it here.
Edit: Also in my opinion you should do more videos like these. This community's biggest problem is that critisism is always ignored or viewed as an attack against the game. Normalizing critisism and our concerns is very important for Bushi to legit change their practices.

From what I have listened to, here are two of the major factors that you have pointed out to that are partially explained [as a person who has listened to some of the past press releases in the general public].
Word-for word from my comment with Commander Jaime on whether the tournament structure is worth it:
The reasoning behind no entry fee is because of Bushiroad's philosophy from what I have heard. I don't remember where the clip is but I know that Bushi's philosophy is holding them back from monetizing the event despite how sizable the community is. It is why both Weiss Schwarz (WS) and Vanguard (CFV) are identical in prize structure. Whether you disagree or agree with the philosophy is up for you to interpret, but I am not here to argue in favor of or against this; I just want to let you know what is going on with the scene.
Because Cygames is technically the IP holder (Bushi is just an official licensed company to use the IP, similar to how WS works), their philosophy may or may not line up with the rest of Bushi's events. This also explains the prizing structure from Shadowverse Evolve (SVE) as this philosophical approach is not from the ground-up in terms of how Bushi operates. In addition, SVE technically had a soft-open with its own circuit, which could partially help explain the prizing difference too. As for the prizing structure within Bushiroad SpringFest (BSF), since this has been a holdover between the independent circuit and the BSF, I'd be inclined to say that this was in part from CyGames to push for more prizing from the ground up rather than Bushi itself. Because of this, both WS and CFV are indeed at the short end of the stick when it comes to prizing. Similarly, there has been no big push from the CFV side of things to be cross collab with WS (Both games were fundamentally started at pretty much the same time in English), but the crossover for SVE is indeed because the IP holders gave each other permission to use the collaboration as a tool to get the players to move into the other game.
Side note: Speaking of the crossover, because the games WS and CFV are strictly for different audiences, I am more surprised that CFV did not get a collab WS set release back in the day. I probably would have played a WS deck with CFV as the featured series (I played Fate/Zero and UBW back then).
Release Structure Issues (The drought for Jan-Apr):
A lot of the issues that happen with the release structure happens because of holidays in Asia and cultural issues that happen between the three major areas (Japan, Singapore, English-Global). Here's a breakdown of the situation on how this is an issue: Because Bushiroad is an Asian company at its core, a lot of the people that work have holidays over during winter in NA/EU/AO. This includes Thanksgiving for the USA, Chanukah for the Jewish community, Christmas globally, Kwanzaa for the African/African-American Diaspora, the Gregorian Calendar New Year, and MLK Jr. Holiday for the USA. I cannot give every holiday for your region, but these are some of the most well-known. Every decision that happens because of the Japanese work culture means that you need permission from the higher ups, giving the higher ups decision fatigue. There's generally a lot tighter ships running in North America where deadlines need to be met for their Asian counterparts.
Now the reverse is true for the Non-western holidays as in Asia where you need to meet the demands of the markets of NA/EU/AO. Because the work is nonstop in Asia and extra busy for Black Friday up to end of the year, these cards need to be finished in a tighter deadline as release leaks need to be posted by the end of a competitive season. First up is Singapore, where Bushiroad is headquartered for Southeast Asia. Not only does the country celebrate some of the holidays of the aforementioned above, but also Lunar New Year for the majority ethnic Chinese that live in the region (Malaysia also has a Chinese diaspora and also celebrates Lunar New Year) and need to run deadlines for the faster paced quota from that area. Production really only picks up after the holiday season for the region and definitely needs warm-up time.
And then you have Japan, the big elephant in the room. Now, because all of the work needs permission from a higher authority before menial tasks can be done, a lot of things give higher-ups decision fatigue. This means when Japan slows down, so does the rest of the ship. And they slow down during Golden Week for holidays. Coincidentally, this always happens at the end of April up until the beginning of May, right after Bushiroad Japan releases a bunch of press statements (which in itself needs the card design finished internally).
I hope this at least gives some partial insight into the discrepancies for the schedule and tournament structure.

V Premium still has so much potential, whether it was more retrained cards from the G Era or new cards entirely. Clan Collection Vol. 7, 8, 9, and 10 if they ever did them could've gave us ways to combat the current stale metagame while also providing support for Premium as well. Sucks that Bushiroad decided to just give promo support that doesn't do enough to actually help in the long run. On top of that, good promos just make the market even more expensive so its a lose lose.

Like they don't get invites and can be passed down to lower placements but not outside of top 4 which sucks a lot and this makes the Worlds having a small number of finalists and 2023 surprised me of how low number Standard (most popular) had when it could have more participants. Yes 110% true. It's also a major flaw with reprints, weather you buy a playset or multiple be it say Yuika or effect triggers they are so scummy with reprint ratios (upcoming set after triple drive has Sajess reprint as RE+, 1 per box but 13 RE+ total 30 boxes a case so 2 per case is disgusting) that the price hardly ever shifts (there was even a point where reprint Yuika was more expensive than the base set printing) It feels like bushi is intentionally doing it on purpose too. Like it wouldn't be hard for them to study what decks are running see price jumps/spikes (tellfaith for razazel as an example 30c to $60 overnight) and reprint those cards as promos for shops instead, granted they are doing this (reacus) but imho much too slowly to make any significant difference. And compared to other card games it's a shame.

Completely agree with your points. It's getting really annoying to keep up with set releases when I main an entire nation, I don't even bother trying to get multiple playsets of staples because of the price. The promos are even worst, $20 for some cards that make the deck function. I play in one of the two locals that get promos in my country, and while I've got some great pulls we don't even know if the next months promo packs are being sent or not (that may be a problem with the show owner tho).
But I'd like to give bushi credit where it is due. We've asked for more defensive options a year or so ago and they heard us. Siana, Dolls, Veleno are all really cool defensive decks and I'm glad at least the developers are listening.

I really agree with the prizing "issue". I recently got 2nd with my friends at BCS anaheim for tri-regulation and I didn't even get a top 2 or whatever place playmat. I only got a medal and certificate (which is cool and all but the playmat would have been wayyy cooler"). I would totally pay $10-25 for entry to official events for prizing to improve.
I'm really conflicted with the promos issue because I feel like it makes more people go to locals in order to obtain promos. I get that this system is not fair to all locations but in a sense the promos does its job of supporting worse decks and getting people to go to locals/wanting a locals in their area, so I'm not sure that Bushi will actually change the promo system. Honestly they should just put 2 promos in each pack and that might fix the issue? or only do good/new promos as box toppers and have reprints/alt-arts as actual shop tournament promos?
I agree with the issue of the current release system. I appreciate JP figuring out the meta ahead of time in other games, but Vanguard is one of the few games where I actually think, so I'd rather do the theorycrafting and figuring out the meta as it comes out.

The start decks being $25 (as of the writing of this comment) is ridiculous. I am reminded of why I quit the game the last time. Bushi keeps doing dumb stuff and it pushes casual players like me away to other, cheaper games with better local support.

I didn't buy anything Vanguard related stuff ever since the Gramgrace structure deck back in October, I won't support Bushiroad 's terrible marketing decisions (promos are a mess to get and not to mention most key cards are in fact promos!), not to mention the horrible secondary market this game has to offer... it makes Yuhioh look budget in comparison to some degree. And the community in my area are extremely gatekeepers, if you're not in a group or a day one player then you're screwed.
Ever since then I just move to commander and collecting Yugioh cards instead.

As a Tachikaze main premium has been my fav format for a while now. Standard has solid gameplay but it took 3 years to see even 1 or 2 cards I actually wanted to main rather than just play for the sake of playing

I feel like D and P are basically as good as they've ever been, but Bushi is doing so much wrong constantly to hold the game back. Their current traditions are not built to scale (regional prizing and structure, print to demand, crazy tight ratios, bad LGS support). It's almost like they want their games to only be at the popularity they're at now, and never explode or go viral like Pokemon and OP.

Bushiroad has been trash for a while now, from their branches to promos to advertising their games & promoting the longevity of it.

I quit Standard after Chronojet realising they were just going to solve it by force powercreep so the game will get worse (both price and gameplay) and they never learned their lesson in V when they tried that same solution with Melody.
Best decision made, I would have hated playing Standard more

The same way Bushiroad has been ignoring all of Vanguard's glaring issues 😂
Quite unfortunate, I really loved the game back then.

The RRR thing is the worst for me. Not only does this dramatically increased the price of the good cards, it also makes the price gap between good and bad RRRs be so large that buying less than a case is a bit too risky.

List of things that Bushi/VG R&D team need to fix :-
    1. Whatever QSD with no skill cards BS for DivineZ is. Just stick to the Start-Up decks yall been doing for past 2 years, or the original SD products yall done for OD. No sleeves, no pretty packagings, no box, just a fully & properly functioning deck. Whatever sleeves, or deckbox, pretty packaging, yall can sell that on a side. In fact, yall can bundle that into a "premium" product, & sell it for 3x whatever a standard TD sells for, & we would be willingly pay for (basically what yall doing back in G/current stride decks).
    2. Card rarity distributions, just make promos alt art for existing cards. Stop making cards that makes a main unit function into promos. & stop making good nation-wise generic cards into high rarity cards. If yall want to make it, make cards that support specific boss unit high rarity. Have better card distributions.
    3. Stop announcing good cards in a set only after the pre-order period is over.
    4. This may not fully be Bushi's fault, but card prices on secondary market is currently too volatile. I've never seen a R card that worth 3 times more than the cards that are basically "Collectors item" (The alt arts & FRs) in VG back in G. OD & DZ make this into a problem.
    5. & to add on bout ENG/JP gap. Im not going to complaint bout the release gap cuz shipping. But the product quality differences is so terrible.

Coming from an SVE player's perspective: Bushiroad seems to be okay with barely keeping its doors open and refuses to make the necessary risks to grow the presence of its Western branch. They're accepting mediocre near-failure instead of trying to push towards real success. They have excellent games in their belt but don't care if people actually play them.

A lack of support in V is actually a good thing. Given how shitty Standard and Premium products are and how greedy they got with the distribution and mandatory cards. V would 100% follow the same way if it did get support

Ah how i wish the game was stillin G era, sure rides from 1 and 2 did nothing but at least the game only had a couple outlyers that couldve easily been banned and fixed
Now we have trash like short print runs, generic staples every set, over triggers, rampant powercreep, bad tournament structure

I announced to my friends that I would take a break from the game after BSF Barcelona (would've done it earlier if I hadn't bought the plane tickets) after experiencing the issues that the new Stride Decksets brought to the game. Now in the process of selling my entire collection and pivoting to other card games (mainly Star Wars Unlimited), and even though the Vanguard community in my area is what I consider to be the nicest and most united TCG community that I have ever seen to the point that I still go to Vanguard tournaments just to spectate and hang out with them, I simply don't have fun playing the game anymore and constantly having to deal with Bushiroad's bad decisions and scalping bullshit almost every single week just got me tired. Some other issues that I'd like to point out:
    - There is virtually no incentive to open packs since limited isn't a thing, boxes are not worth buying financially since the ratios are bad and there are usually cheap/filler cards in high rarities, the IP is weak so not much collectability or people chasing SPs/FFRs, almost all cards are straight up pack filler or locked into an archetype (which if you wanted to build you probably bought a split already) while the generic staples are all high rarity and won't be showing often.
    - The only reason for players to attend locals from a financial standpoint are the expensive promos that are given out on participation packs, which basically covers the expense of playing in the tournament because the prizing will likely not be worth it. Depending on the time period, these packs can still have bad hits.
    - Their model for reprints simply doesn't work (which might be intended), since in most cases they retain the price of the original versions or even get more expensive. Releasing new support for decks without reprinting old pieces also makes things randomly spike and this also helps to create the scalper paradise that is Vanguard's secondary market.
    - The game currently feels very luck based to the point that I feel like my decisions rarely mean something. Stride vs Stride matchups are basically coinflips if not swinging a bunch of vanillas and spamming CB1 to +1s and hoping that you don't get clogged with G3s and flip more triggers than your opponent. Games can be straight up lost if you don't see enough PGs since the numbers have become so high and card advantage is so important that dropping 3-4 cards to guard probably means you lost the game since you'll have to constantly guard the same numbers, assuming that's even enough to guard.
    - I feel that there's little to no innovation on the game's design. Everything boils down to having more attacks with bigger numbers and plus as much as you can, the difference in strategy is mostly between a deck with higher ceiling but less consistency vs lower ceiling with more consistency. New Bosses are basically a rehash of older units with a very few exceptions, but even the new ones just boil down to the same thing in the end. Most decks just do the same thing over and over again with little to no variation. The way they support older decks is basically just putting silver tape on the decks' problems, powercreeping older units and in some cases even stripping what made them unique (eg. Bastion Accord) instead of taking a deck on a new direction, which I believe to be extremely hard to do for the same reasons mentioned in this topic.
That being said, I wanted to stay optimistic about the future of the game and would gladly return to the game once better times come, but the company keeps missing as usual and I am saddened that those times might not be coming soon, if they come at all.

    Tbf, Vanguard is already dead.
It lacks financial support from the company.
There are more people quitting than coming to the game.
Lack of local languages and investment on the global market.
And also the scam of "energy crest", which broke the trust of a lot of people ( a 10$ gatekeep for any returning player).
Also, if you wanna sell your stuff and live outside the northen hemisphere, be prepared to pay a huge shipping fee. Because Almost nobody plays this game in your country. And if you played during G or V and still have the cards around... Well, even if your cards are like 20 USD each, they won't sell easly. Which is bad for the oxigenation of the game ( Player A sells their cards to Player B and grab money to buy more cards, making both players enternained and less frustrated that they didn't lose value in the long run).
