I think it's unfair to call him a daddy's boy. Yeah, I know he's Doc's son, but he did have some game. He just didn't turn out to be as great as some thought he'd be

He would’ve been out of the league if not for doc long before he was. Yes he turned into a decent bench guy, but he was bad for so long any other team would have already given up on him by the time he became one.

As a Clips fan, I loved having him on the team. The dude could ball. That being said, it was a ticking time bomb being the coach’s son, especially Doc Rivers. In my mind, he’s become overrated because of his dad

I guess it's not really his fault, but once I heard the rumor that doc denied a trade package for him that involved I believe carmelo anthony which was a big reason cp3 left I was done with both of them lol

Paradoxically, Austin Rivers is the definition of both bust and overrated. Bust because he clearly didn't lived up to the expectations and overrated because, even though he was a scrub, he still somehow managed to be considered by some sources as a "decent" player/starter.

New Orleans: Whomever decided on that Rivers pick (missing out Harkless, Founier, Crowder , Draymond...ok not that much talent after AD to be honest), I'm sure he got his ass fired soon after

He was the #1 ranked HS player, he got drafted in 1st round.
Way more than Bronny, but Bronny will get carried as far as his dad can take him.
Austin could've been a lot better, but he should've stayed at Duke another year under Coach K

Him and Anthony Davis were suppose to be Shaq and Penny for New Orleans. But both were to inconsistent together.

8:43 you forgot to mention Thanasis Antetokounmpo, because he was inducted into the NBA because of his brother Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee

If Austin RIvers was an All-Star, it would be funny if his father's curse of failing to hold onto a 3-1 lead would transfer to him so any team other he's on other than the Clippers will lose a 7-game series despite holding a lead.

He did have game but it didn’t translate to NBA starter game for awhile he could come off the bench tho & play well

I don't remember a ton of hype about this guy coming into the league. Ya, he's coaches son but in the NBA you need to earn that roster spot and he has a 10 year career where he made 10s of millions of dollars. I call that success so not sure what the issue is with him

To survive 10 years in the NBA meat grinder is no mean achievement. Therefore he deserves huge credit. However, I always felt that Austin Rivers tried too hard, had an over-inflated ego and believed himself to be a better baller than he actually was. In the end, neither his potential, nor his accomplishments could match the hype.
