As a child, Hip Hop artist Lecrae's world was void of good role models. Growing up with a single mom, he would watch rap videos at his grandmother's house and developed an ability to rap himself. Yet Lecrae wrestled with insignificance, having never met his father and enduring a life of abuse and neglect. He sought to fill this void by surrounding himself with gangsters.
Before long, Lecrae was embroiled in a world filled with drugs, theft, alcohol and gang activity. "I didn't fit in anywhere. I was just a misfit of a person," he said.
Little did he know that his view on life would soon be jolted, opening his eyes to the One who valued his life as significant. The One who cared enough to die for him. The One who is behind his music.

Lecrae is seriously awesome, like he let God turn his life around and now he is blessed and touching people were the the light of Christ.

At its core, hip hop is poetry. Consequently, good hip hop has good poetry behind it. The lyrics are supposed to have a deep meaning and make you think, and the music is supposed to supplement whatever emotion you are trying to convey. In some ways it's probably one of the most visual of all musical genres, like how the greatest hip hop and rap artists are able to basically paint an image with just their words. With that said I would like to say that Lecrae has some of the most lyrical and poignant poetry I've ever heard put to music - in any genre.

man God did alot in my life like this man of God. i was in street gang, in and out of jail im 17 n God saved me. i dont have a Dad. dont get see my Mom an God came in to be my Father. I lived in the streets sold all kind of drugs n God saved me
Powerful to see this man step out of the worlds system and choose to live for Christ.... and these songs are needed for this generation!
Praise God for all He has done for me and for this world....when drugs were destined to kill me and no one else had the power to rescue me...JESUS CHRIST stepped down from HIS throne of glory, became a man and said, "I'll DIE for your sins my son", and then they crucified HIM and HE died for me arising the third day so I may live with HIM for eternity!!!! i listen to that song over and over, and those lyrics still give me chills when he slows them down

What I love most about THIS Iamsecond testimony as opposed to most of the others I have seen is Lacrae's emphasis on what happened and what was true of his life, not painting an emotional story story. Not to say others' stories of salvation are less credible or anything like that, Lacrae seems to harp only on the facts of his life, and doesn't get emotional and the video doesn't seem to want to pull at people's heart strings. He only tells us what is true, it is the truth that will set us free.

Guys you also need to remember that when he talks about Obama being a role model he's talking about positive leaders in general. Not as a Christian. Remember he's black and he is looking at it from that standpoint. White people have tons of role models mostly in their homes, but for a young black male the only role models they have are rappers. For me i can truly say Obama has been a very positive role model, despite some of his policies and breaking of promises, just because he has shown young black males that there is another way of life other than hip hop culture.

Agreed. The way I understood Lecrae invoking the names od Malcolm X, MLK and Obama as a placeholder for "examples of confident black males". He clearly holds Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior - the perfect exemplar to emulate.

Guys, don't miss the mark based on judging him. Lecrae is transformed and we should be celebrating what God has done in his life, not bringing up things that he did before. Just remember that the devil is an accuser. We are called to exhort one another, not tear each other down, Lecrae included.
I love lecrae i pay really close attetion to his lyrics and they stick to my soul. His music sure has helped me to be a rebel in my spiritual walk with jesus. Thank you jesus for lecrae abd his insperational music
I'm amazed by how powerfully God is working through Lecrae's life, music and testimony. He's inspiring and always helps keep up strong. Thank God for people like Lecrae to help us turn our focus back unto the Lord.

wait wow wow wow, i cant believe people are judging him because of is tattoo's, really. lecrae was in the world so obviously he will do things of that nature. Now he is saved and living for christ and winning lost souls with his music, and being an inspiration. that whats wrong with many christian today they judge people tooo much, causing ppl in the world to keep running from God. ye that is without sin cast the first stone. we r supposse to life each other up in love, STOP TEARING PPL DOWN...

personally i believe that hip hop is probably the best way to go if you want to bring more people to our heavenly father. now i for one listen to Lecrae. over half of the people in almost all english speaking countries listen to rap. if i like music this is upbeat like rap. im most likely not going to want to listen to someone like mandisa. but i would listen to lecrae and other christian rappers. plus rap can get in more words and content than any other genre.
I've known god since before I can remember. It's great hearing about people who concert as adults... Me and my mom she was my pipeline!!

We know there is moral law, and we know there is a moral law giver
The creation proves that there is a Creator. Nothing did not create everything.
All i can say is WOW! I have heard many testimonies like this but this one has touched my heart way more than others, you have always been an inspiration ever since i saw you at the key arena a few years ago, thank you so much for sharing!

Hip hop itself isn't bad. Many rappers give it a bad name. The fact that Lecrae is a hip hop artist doesn't mean he isn't worshipping God. I believe music is about the message in the music and not the way it's portrayed. A contemporary Christian song can have the same message as one of Lecrae's song. We have to take music back and don't just leave hip hop to the world

In my humble opinion, anything that is not worshiping God, is something believers should stay away from, we were MADE to worship the Creator, and some people want their own way and to listen to what tickles their ears, whether it's the style of music or something else, I'm guilty of it too, but if you research the music industry, it's just plain wicked and sold out to the devil. I want nothing to do with worldly music.

When he talked about the price and being bought I remembered how in the scriptures it says God is Holy, and that means nothing untrue can stand before him and live because all is revealed. Accepting Jesus has nothing to do with religion. It just means standing before God and instead of seeing you he see's Jesus in your place. That messed me up.
People who can speak negatively about someones testimony about them getting saved is crazy. Who cares if he mentioned Obama. You just don't get it. How about stop being self righteous Christians just like the world views us? Doesn't that make us modern say Pharisees? Casting stones at our brothers and sisters. I think lecrae is another disciple of Christ and I am so happy there is this light in rap music. Thank you lecrae for doing what God is calling you to do. Now let's stop judging shall we?

Have you ever looked at someone with lust? The Bible says that if someone hates another person they are a murderer (I John 3:15). Have you ever hated anyone? If you have answered, Yes, to the previous questions, then you have admitted that you are a liar, a thief, a blasphemer, an adulterer and a murderer and we’ve only looked at 5 of the 10 Commandments. If God were to judge you by this standard would you be innocent or guilty? You know you are guilty and deserving of an eternity in Hell.
