LEGO Avengers Quinjet Review... FLAWED!

- Today I build and review the 2023 LEGO Marvel The Avengers Quinjet. This set is great... but it has some FLAWS! One of them in particular is pretty offputting, to say the least. Like I get what LEGO was trying to do but in no way did they execute it properly! Take a detailed look at the set in this review video.

You're absolutely spot on Jordan about the lack of extra parts for the stickers! I think the designers came up with this excellent idea of having the customisability, but Lego was simply not smart enough to execute it properly and give its customers the best experience. I'm sure they will learn from this, and this Quinjet is otherwise a fantastic set anyway.
I literally just got this set home 10 minutes ago and was wondering this…
Which makes no sense. The speed champions 007 Aston Martin, a LICENSED SET worth a measly 25$ CAD, came with like a dozen spare license plate pieces (1x3 silver tiles) so you could put the extra license plate numbers on them and easily swap between them. No excuse for them not to add the extra parts on a set worth upwards of 130$ CAD if they give you alternate stickers. It makes me not want to put the stickers on at all

The “take off position” stand is actually a turret. They used it to shoot down chitauri during the battle for NY
I thought it was a lock for the front wheel, i flipped mine all the way forward and it stops the front wheel from folding into the ship

It's also from the first avengers movie when they first capture Loki in Berlin.
Great critique there about the additional sticker sheet. Would be cool if they made a additional "panel pack" available and included Coulson and May :)
They did this with the 2018 x-wing from star wars but actually gave you 2 extra 2x3 tiles so you could swap it between red 5 and red 3 (pretty sure it was red 3). They even gave you the extra pilot and astromech droid!

I love the fact that the set comes with the minifigure of Loki with the Hannibal Lecter mouthpiece. lol
This should have come with Nick Fury, Phil Coulson, Hawkeye, Bruce Banner and Maria Hill, in my mind.
With that price tag, we definitely deserved a few more figures.
I actually had some difficulty purchasing this so when I was on the line with lego customer support I had a very nice conversation with the lady on the other end and we actually talked about how we both watch your channel.

Love this set! Built it yesterday and its super cool. Kinda agree with you on the "flaw" but it wasn't enough to stop me buying the set.
You make a really good point about the stickers and the fact that you cannot change that out without ordering parts for replacing or destroying the stickers you started with. I ordered one of these and I will keep that in mind before I apply stickers. I think I am going Avengers myself
i like that they FINALLY took the decision to make airplanes with landing gear , i always wanted this
- however the cockpit has an excessive height , and it should be angled down
I really like this set, I got it January 1st myself, however I agree with you on the sticker part andI also chose the Shield stickers and ended up with the same problem. Also the element on the bottom is supposed to be te gun, you can pull it al the way forward.
You missed something there my friend. That black technic at the bottom isn't a kick stand. It's the turret gun as shown in the movie. You're supposed to crank it all the way to the front. Pointing towards the front.

Built this yesterday been waiting a long time for this re-make !! Also the part at the front that you said was for it to be in take off mode is the main cannon when you put it on the stand you pull it right round not have it facing down 😊 love your work you are my favourite you tuber & the main reason I love Lego 😊

I agree with you on the giant holes, when I was building the set I was very confused and I’m not a fan of that part in particular. Also, the pole thing that flips out of the bottom is supposed to be a gun I believe.
I really love this set! At first, 8 didn't expect much from it, but now thanks to your review it has so much more to offer than I thought! I am also very disappointed that there is no additional plates to stick the other stickers onto like you to swamp out avengers to shield or vise versa. And there is a few design flaws that you pointed out as well, I'll just have customize those myself. Thanks for the awesome and honest review!

I want to be able to switch but don’t have those pieces so I just did one half shield stickers and half avengers, it might not be conventional but it has both versions which I like

I agree what you said about the stickers and seeing that blue piece when the wing tip folds. That bar you brought down so it look like it's taking off should be 'clear' so you don't see it as much. In the dark color, it looks propped up like you are doing maintenance on the front landing gear.

what is the name of your drawer system behind you in this video. I know of some systems I have used in the past but the drawers are very difficult to use. appreciate your answer! thank you!
i agree. The extra pieces would be a nice bonus so you can switch between the logos. Overall all I am happy with the set as it is the most detailed lego version, so far. BUT!!! There are some design flaws. The "Agents of Shield" logo. Most reprensations of it show the eagle's head facing to the right. In "The Winter Soldier" , specifically the on quinjet, they show the eagle head facing left in an early scene and facing right on the rest of the scenes. The cockpit design. It would be soo much better if it sloped down more to meeting the horizontal line on the bottom of it. What would be even cooler is if they designed the cockpit to pivoted down when the angle of the jet changed. Like when its landing. The vector fans on the wings. They don't look like vector fans. Especially from the top and side view. If I had never seen a quinjet before, I wouldn't know what they are. They look like spider web/net dropper thingies.

The black piece you thought to allow you to put the jet in take off is actually a mini gun when you raise the landing gear. Lego has picture of it on their website.

I don't see any issues with the stickers. They gave you option to pick which one you'd like. Not to switch between. You'd have zero complaints about that if they just included 1 sticker sheet. It's not meant to be swapped just meant for you to decide which one you want

The only flaws I can see is they forgot to add Hawkeye and hulk 😢😢

I agree with u about the sticker problem but the more obvious issues I see is this quinjet, especially the cockpit is structured as a quadjet
The quinjet’s cockpit is meant to be more sleek and angled down while this one is a fixated box on the front of the jet
They haven't done interchangeable stiker parts in any set if I recall correctly. Take the 2008 Republic Gunship for example. It included stickers for different art on the Gunship, but not additional parts to go back and forth between the two looks.
Can you throw in a couple wall pieces in the holes and the rear landing gear still be functional?

I think lokis helmet is different from the other ones cause it seems a lot more shinier than it normally is
Great review! I agree with the stickers situation, but I think the reason for both sticker sheets is to let us choose whether you want a S.H.I.E.L.D. OR Avengers jet. (I personally like the S.H.I.E.L.D. version much more) The main issue I think is that LEGO advertised it in a way that makes it look interchangeble, but I do not think that was the design choice.
I love the set and the finished product looks amazing. The fact that Lego left out the extra pieces to switch between the Shield jet and Avenger jet makes me feel as if it’s a money grab so you’ll buy two sets. Regardless I’m going to buy one set. Great review. Thanks Bricksie.
@Park Justin Thanks for you positive reply. I appreciate it when people like yourself feel the need to put other people down because they aren’t happy with themselves. With that aside there are plenty of people that will buy two sets to have two versions. That isn’t insane like you so eloquently implied.
Nice video and you are right about the extra pieces and stickers. No, that is suppose to be a Gatling gun on the bottom, behind the landing gear. I like the build, but do not like how the back landing gear comes down or that it is not minifigure scale for the price they are charging. They also could have smooth tiles to go on the back lowering gate and underside of the jet.

This is the first time I've seen someone use the SHIELD stickers, instead of the Avengers ones
Some interior detailing like the benetar ship would have made this set perfect, but it is still pretty good and I will pick it up!

I’m an HP fan, but I really like the looks of this. I’d build it as Shield as well.
I am not putting either set of stickers on it, so I am happy they didn't add pieces, and raise the price.
Its not too difficult to buy extra pieces.

Another reason why Lego need to get rid of stickered parts and only ever produce printed ones. Almost everyone hates stickers as opposed to printed parts in Lego sets as far as I'm aware.
Perhaps they assumed buyers have the superpowers required to remove the stickers successfully.
I would request another set of pieces for the sticker sheet through LEGO missing bricks😂 what they should’ve included in the box lol

This is why I prefer the way Speed Champions does it, they atleast give out spare pieces for the alternative stickers in their sets

To give you an answer on the technic piece behind the front landing gear is meant to be the machine gun that they use to point at Loki! All you do is fold it forward.
Thanks, Jordan for the review. I'm very disappointed that there are no additional pieces to switch out sticker sets. The overall design is unfinished. The cargo door looks like an afterthought as do the engines. I want it but I don't I have $60 in Amazon gift cards between work and volunteering at my church...not sure if I will use them towards this or wait for the Indiana Jones sets.
The thing is I really want this set and I know I will choose the SHIELD stickers for the jet but you are right its a bummer that we can't change betweet the two styles because like what if I want to change it from Shield to the Avengers theme in the future? I can't! Like you said an average Lego collector like me doesn't have those pieces, but oh well I'm a big Agents of SHIELD fan so I probably won't change my mind on switching the team. I am concerned though like what if Lego re-releases a "new" version of this exact same set but with the additional pieces for changing the stickers?? I don't want to regret buying it now and then not buying the "new" one... I mean that will probably not happen right??

i find it absolutely ridiculous how few reviewers on youtube actually know that the quinjet has a pop-out minigun on the front. like, come on, its incredibly obvious

needs a tilty stand like the guardians ship. I get they’re building to a budget so it won’t be as detailed but its still pretty good - just not perfect
Stickers was an upset. Definitely took me a extra second to decide which sheet to put on. Through the build I actually used both sheets. A to give it color and B to make it like the lone criminal avenger era. All in all i really like the set aswell. Now im looking for big hulk to put in it like from age of ultron movie ending

I don't think thats a problem, they give you the option and it can always be customized if you don't have the exact parts plus it keeps the price down. But great review
Stickers need to go. LEGOs Achilles heel. I don’t apply 90% of mine anymore unless its interior computer panel stuff. If megacons-yuck can print all their pieces LEGO can match them. Got a stamp-sheet-like book of stickers waiting for a bricklink store hah.
Not a fan of Marvel but I am in love with this set. Its like LEGO teasing us with military style builds. Maybe one day hah. Cool build regardless.

The Quinjet looks pretty good. I just build the Guardians Ship (Milano) and to me that one just looks a lot better. Also that set had the same price (I bought it for only €84,00) but has over twice the parts. Really loved that build.
It isn't even the same price, the Guardians Ship is $160, but this one is $100...Get your facts right

Right on about not providing pieces for the second set of stickers. So glad your calling them out on that. As a huge fan of lego this is a huge mistake. Just common sense and man the fan base would of appreciated it so much and would of been talking about how lego went above and beyond for the lego customers.

Just built this and really wasn't happy with the underwing repulsors. They just looked odd and clunky.
So I took the brackets off and mounted the dish directly to the wing, looks better to my eye.

You did a great job reviewing the set, including your critiquing the sticker elements. Lego missed a good opportunity to gain some happier builders.

Structural failures are one thing. The other thing... it's a big gray block. Three, the base is nice, but the guardians ship is in a completely different league. For me the best quinjet is the one from 76032.

I feel that the spiky hair doesn't really work for Tony Stark, I think that the Shang Chi hair for Tony fits way better.
I don’t personally think it’s a flaw since a majority of people will choose the sticker they want and leave it as is.
See it like the creator 3 in 1’s, you choose what you want and then never build the other models.
Besides the set probably had a budget of $100 and the extra 20 or so pieces would definitely increase it by $10 seeing the size of the pieces.
Why no one is talking about the real flaw of this Quinjet design, the nose of this Quinjet cannot tilt down on landing!!! Also, in the movies, the Quinjet canopy is tinted black, not tinted blue.
