Watched when the trains were originally removed. Then under the table. Then back on top. Then came the amusement park. And now an elevated track through the city. It's been a journey.

I think you should build the interior of the tunnel entirely (i.e. everything behind the facade). Lots of opportunity to create some fun scenes throughout, which will only be visible on the video footage but you'll know they're there! Maybe a project idea?

even something super simple that wouldn’t normally fit within the city would be cool. like maybe have some sort of monster hiding under there or some sort of other theme, maybe a mini star wars or indiana jones or something else

Man, one of my bucket-list things to do in life is to have a dedicated Lego room one day.
After graduating college, I came home to officially share a room with my youngest sibling. My other younger siblings currently have their own rooms since one went through high school and the other finished college after two years since we moved.
So, every student loan payment made is a step closer to moving out in my eyes. It’s not so much wanting to leave my family as it is just me desperately wanting my own room somehow. And I’m convinced about what is required of me to reach that achievement.
*TL;DR:* I’m inspired. The rest of what I wrote is self-involved bickering.

Have you considered adding a small detail to the train lines - some way of simulating overhead power as both the ground and raised lines are models of electric trains??
Will you look at changing the layout of the tracks when you eventually move to a larger premises?

It's actually not that uncommon to see an elevated track above / to the side of a surface track. They might connect to different places ultimately but it can be convenient to share the same route for whatever overlap there is, because you've already got a straight piece of land to follow anyway. Space constraints are very much a factor in the real world, not just in a LEGO city!
