  • In this video we review WP Franklin Campground, which is a US Army Corps of Engineers Campgrounds. The Park is located approx. 30 miles from downtown Fort Myers and is located on the Caloosahatchee River section of the Okeechobee Waterway. The Park has 30 RV sites and 8 boat sites with full hookup. The campground amenities include, showers & restroom, fishing areas, boat ramp and courtesy ramp. You are also able to walk out to the dam/locks for an up-close look. Don't forget to watch out for alligators if you visit. Although we didn't see them, we were told by the camp hosts that they frequent the area.

Nice video! Ara and I were at the W.P. Franklin Campground a couple of years ago. Nice place to kick back, relax, and enjoy life. Thanks for posting!

A Navion is a sweet rig. Because the Army Corp of Eng. runs that campground, there is the first set of locks in your lens on the Caloosahatchee River that eventually takes you to Lake Okeechobee.

So many people move from RV to the boat but boat life is definitely not for everyone, not for me. Nice video 👍

Unfortunately, it wasn't just the boats killing manatees this year. There have been polluted spills into the waterways for the last couple years. Goopy algae, red tide, etc, has flourished, killing off the sea grass. Manatees have starved to death. So cruel. Don't even want to think what these spills are doing to us. Beaches all over the state have been littered with fish kills. On a happier note, love the covered picnic tables. Swiftmud has wonderful camping areas. I've camped at Potts Preserve, right on the river. So beautiful and completely primitive
