When i was on and i had to wait an hour or whatever it seemed like every minute was an hour. Life is so much better now for me and not staring at my phone every 10 seconds is just part of it. 90 days today and feeling awesome, thanks for your videos bro. They really helped me through some dark times.

You talking about seeing pills when you look at money is spot on. Anytime I would make tips serving tables as soon as I made that $40 to get a couple of blues I would hit my guy to come down and meet me at work. Every addict has had those days staring constantly at your phone every few minutes just waiting to hear from your dealer. Going through withdrawls now, and these videos are helping. Thanks so much.

Hey bro! You said it the best!!! Exactly! Man.. I was addicted to heroin when i was 15-20 because it took one trick to do it. I was on the blues and norcos, all that stuff. I know what you mean man.. The feeling of freedom! No more waiting on someone to make you feel the way you 'need' to feel. I cleaned up at age 20 joined the army at 22. I am 26 now and im doing fine. But i still have days i just want to feel the high sometimes. And that feeling goes away after 3 minutes and i snap out of it. Sometimes I cry because I feel like i ruined my life and I will never have that innocence in me again. Peace be with you brother, I appreciate what youre doing! You have my support!

How even in recovery its hard to get a hold of ones self your true self, how your respect for self diminishes and respect from peers is gone, how when you leave opiates for the first time and its like you are a new born into the world and everything feels new, how challenging your self should be ones new addiction instead of saying no tryout yes. Hope these ideas help you Ryan cause you sure have helped me.

hey man I'm from Jersey too good to see there's someone who went thru the same shit as me. On my first day of subs this channel is honestly very helpful. You should really consider the benefits of psychedelics one of the only things that gave me the urge to get clean was tripping on mushrooms.

Basically spot on but I was just thinking about this exact thought today. That feeling of pure happiness when you get clean and start living a normal life is amazing, like you said. But for most people that doesnt exactly last forever. Been clean for almost 5 months now and I find that feeling comes less and less now, its hard to find that same joy again and that worries me. Doing what I did was the hardest thing iv done but it definitely is the most rewarding and I dont want to lose that fire I had when I finally got clean. Especially with money in my pocket and me back on my feet. Guess its my focus that needs work

I have an idea for a video, Can you talk about how everyone says after you beat addiction you can go back to the normal life you had and you do the things that you had interest in before your addiction. Well I became addicted very young and I struggle with figuring out who I am and who I was prior to addiction. Addiction is pretty much all I know. Just an idea....thanks again!

Loving your videos. I'm 9.5 months off opiates right now and did an aggressive taper off a high dose of methadone. Went from 165-80 fairly slow then 80 to 0 very quickly. I'm still dealing with a lot of PAWS symptoms and it's feeling like they are just starting to fade. Within the past week I've had a few periods of actually feeling happy which is an incredible feeling and then have also been in states of extreme anxiety and depression within the past week. It's like every day is a russian roulette and my mood can change very quickly. I'd love to hear you speak further on methadone and what to expect from the extended PAWS period. I've came off heroin before and was feeling pretty good after a couple weeks. The methadone withdrawals were unreal, debilitating anxiety for months. Any knowledge regarding methadone would be awesome :)

Wow. This woman from Ontario Canada is so happy to have found you. Long story short, my daughter, separated, new man, new child, no money, no home, living presently on a reserve, weight gain, perkocet addiction. It has been pure hell. Always asking people for money, with a young, much younger native man that himself has drug issues and a very tumultuous upbringing with a mother that is an addict etc, etc. My husband and I have helplessly watched her life spiral out of control. It has been the most horrible thing to see. Our beautiful daughter just falling apart and going into a big dark hole.
It took a phone call from a friend who she contacted yet again for money that got the ball rolling for her cry for help. I took her into the emergency 2 days after Christmas. I had her children while she detoxed. The boyfriend is even worse which worries me the most because even though he was beside her through the detox period, he needs help himself.
She now goes to a clinic and is given a drug which at the moment I have forgotten the name of, and when there is an opening she will go to a rehab facility.
On new years eve my husband and I dropped off her children. It was obvious they has smoked some weed. There were cases of beer in the back of her truck, but she kept going on about how great she felt. I just felt sick. And so she rang in the new years with a cool, no perkocet's but alcohol and I'm sure weed.
I know she will regret she did that but I was pleading with her not to drink.
I just love what you are doing and I look for you daily. I have sent several of your videos to her as a private message on her Facebook page. Your messages are so inspiring. My husband and I don't recognize our daughter anymore. it is all so sad, and she has 2 beautiful children. Her 7 year old daughter is with her dad now. It is all so heartbreaking.
Do you have any advice for me as her mother on how I can best help her stay on track and also help myself to not get sick or depressed as this is mostly all that I think about.
You are doing such a wonderful thing. This is what our world needs more of. My daughter is a beautiful human being, but on Christmas Eve of 2015 she didn't want to live anymore. Thank god we got her to the hospital. I just want to know how I can best help her in her recovery and how I can help myself.
Thankyou so much for all you do.

I wen to jail and came home clean she cleaned up too while I was gone for 12 days and now we ar e fighting this together.. maybe a few pointers on avoiding the dangers of getting sober together, its harder with two of us going through the mental withdraw , the physical battle is over. iv been off Buprenorphin for over 30 days now and i know what you are talking about ! I'm living in a country where there is no fuckin rehab or clinic for any kind of addiction, so i always had to get my pills from my own country which was super cheap never had any issues with the financial part, but smuggling them every time into the country I'm living in ! was so stressful ! cuz i knew i can go to jail for even a quarter of a 2mg Buprenorphin if they catch me, imagine carrying 50 to 100 pills every 6month, anyhow, iv been all over the world for the past two years and alway had to worry if my luggage is there when i reach my destination ! and then worrying about checking out and shit, its just not worth the stress and anxiety coming with it, not to mention waking up every morning feeling like shit before taking my tiny dose which was 0.12 twice a day of course cuz 0.12 doesn't last the whole day. i could go a year with 100pills and was only costing me less than 40$ every year or 6month depending on my dose, but screw the money, my health is priceless. this feeling of being relieved and not dependent on a tiny ass pill everyday and night is priceless.

The vacation part really got me. When I was addicted for 10 years, vacations were planned AROUND when I got my supply of roxys or norcos. I look back on it not sure how I did it for so long and took a vacation for 3-5 days

    • @es355gibson
      @es355gibson 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think back through all of this and out of 10 solid years, I think there was 3 days total I didn't have a supply to carry me on. Anybody that ever thinks it's just a weekend thing, 1-3 days a week -= Just wait, it will be a full blown addiction. 4 years out and haven't touched anything. I would say the clean life is so-so-so much better. The highlight you hear all the time: It will take over your life, it sure does in mysterious ways. Last 3 years of addiction, daily I was taking 20 norcos and 6 Roxy 30mg.. DAILY. Crazy life to carry on and not worth it. Smoke herb, no other drugs, no booze, no Rx's nothing.

??? My Husband is an addict and he has left home because I know he isn't ready to stop. He knows he isn't in his right state of mind. He starts dating this girl who knows he is an addict and she is trying to force him into divorce. I don't think its right or fair the make a major decsion like this knowing he isn't him self. He on the other hand hasn't mention divorce to me. When I confront him about giving me papers or a divorce he says no. I feel this girl is taking advantage of him not being in his right state of mind while using. Do you think I should go ahead and do it or is it fair to wait for the time he is sober? I know and he knows he can't even think straight at times. Any help would be appreciated. I told him I would give him his space to figure out what he wants but I would like to talk about it when he is sober. Which he doesn't even want to talk about it to me. I truely don't think that is what he wants but she is trying to manipulate him. She thinks he is sober and I know for a fact he isn't sober.

Ryan, I just came accross your videos two days ago and they slapped me in the face. I have been dependent on opiates for 36 years. Doses higher than I have ever seen anyone else claim. Started with legitimate physical pain and then transfered to the I have to have them to function stage. I ,as we all are, am excellent at rationalizing why I "need" them and do have real chronic pain. Nothing new here for anyone that has been there but they have taken all I have...all. The pain can be handled with a fairly low dose(30 mgs of hydrocodone or oxycodone) Less mgs if hydromorphone. Of course I will not stay there. My question to you is; At 56 is it really realistic to think I can ever stop? I am very knowledgeable and logically understand how this has destroyed the life I may have had and after a week or so clean the reality of what I have wrought is so painful that I will tell the lie we all tell ourselves and the cycle begins again. I am interested to hear your response. I am impressed with what you are doing...there are so many in desperate situations.

I can get threw sweating and feeling like shit. I can NOT deal with my legs aching. Can you PLEASE tell me what would help and or how I can make my body rapidly detox so that my legs won't hurt for several days rather just bundle it up and get it over with. When it's drawn out over several days with my legs feeling like there being stabbed with metal ice picks, I always give in. I'm totally dedicated to getting sober but the aches are absolutely overwhelming. I can't imagine much more pain than this. I'm coming off suboxone but weaned myself down really really low and maintained that for week and few days. Please help man.

It's probably too late now, but tonic water is the best thing you can take for that. That and Loperamide and you shouldn't feel any form of withdrawal. Throw some melatonin in there for 4-6hrs of sleep and you can continue going to work.

I am a fit person naturally but running a mile almost killed me. I'm running 2 miles average daily. I'm taking such a low dose but it's just my legs. That's why I started running. I'm trying my best and I really need to get threw this because I have the perfect job opportunity.

I know everyone's recovery is different. But a would like you to do a video about your feelings of using Suboxone for a very limited amount of time. I mean like only 5 to 7 days a the most. As we all know the worst part of withdrawal is the first few days. So using Suboxone to get you past those first few days that are so horrible and then starting to ween off the Suboxone on like day 4 and be totally off of it by day 7 or day 5 would be even better. But my point is the relief it gives to get you past those hellish first days. What are your feelings? I believe many people fail early on because cold turkey is so intense. Cold Turkey also scares people enough to the [point where many won't even try. So can short term use of Suboxone be a good tool?

Being sober is great but then all the people come out the wood work to ask for the money you've saved by not using drugs or people just stress you to the point that it can trigger your addiction

WHY did u start doing drugs, when did u start heavy? Is it possible to taper down, or do you recommend treatment? What if u don't have money for treatment, is there other opportunities? Maybe u have answered it before, but there are some ideas :)
U should work at a treatment senter!!!! Or open one, if u get the chance.
    Sorry for bad english, norwegian.
U should also monetize ur videos, if u got the chance. There are money to make here, and u deserve it! If i get clean & successful I'm gonna donate. Hah. Just hit me up in the future

Hey so I am making this documentary about H use, specifically. But also just general addiction. I would be stoked to talk to somebody like you, who has overcome and are reaching out to people through film about ways to stop. Please please if you have the time out of your day, contact me. I think we could make something happen together. Thanks

      ^^^^^^^^ I agree,
ryan i think u should do one about teens who took opiates, i started taking blues as a teenager and i think it really effected my brain chemicals more because my brain was still developing and now i think i just have naturally low levels of dopamine when I'm clean, hopefully not though. Thanks
