Neither Stacey nor Martin bothered to sit her down and discuss the long consequences of keeping the baby whether how it'd make things more difficult for the family financially or how it'd affect Lily's body since she's still 12 years old. All they've been doing (especially Stacey) is keep saying that it's Lily's decision and how she shouldn't be forced to abort the baby!!

I’ve got a feeling this storyline could backfire and once Whitney gives birth and lily sees how hard it is she might realise she isn’t ready, or could become angry at Stacey and Martin when the baby does come for not being honest enough with her in the beginning, because at the minute they’d are so scared of upsetting her they are not enlightening her enough of the reality
The sad thing is, Jack isn’t completely wrong. Yes his approach is not the best way, but the fears he has for Ricky and Lily are true. This is the reality of underage parenting, maybe not for ALL cases, but certainly a fair amount. Martin and Stacey while being supportive, have not sat down and discussed the consequences and risks that may or may not occur. Jack however is speaking it upfront. It’s up to her what she does with all that knowledge, but at least then she is fully aware with ALL the information, instead of only half that her own parents told her.
I don’t agree with Jack demanding that Lilly is taken to the clinic, however I do think it’s right to be honest and open with her about the long term consequences, they are so scared of seeing lily upset that they aren’t being honest with her about their worries and concerns on what she’s actually doing, she’s a 12 year old girl pregnant. The fact that lily didn’t even want anyone to know at first even Ricky shows she doesn’t fully understand the seriousness of the situation, even thinking that she could hide it from everyone at school now. Even when they needed lily to talk so she wasn’t taken away stacey was reluctant to tell her she needed to open up otherwise she was going to be taken into care. She just needs to not be so soft and sugar coat the reality of everything, if Lilly could see a bigger picture maybe it would enlighten her, and if she still decides to keep the baby then atleast she’s properly prepared and fully understands what she’s doing and what it all entails. Some adult parents struggle to cope let alone a 12 year old girl dependant on their parents.
