  • In this video I return to the richest gold bearing river I have ever discovered. On my last trip I found over 3 ounces of gold in just 2 days before I had to leave to go home. This time around I am packed for 4 days, what will the outcome be?

    Hey Rob that little flat where you were camped well as far as I can see it looks like an alluvial flat. You've got coarse gold in the creek, there has to more of it under your feet where you've camped. That little open cut slash in the side of the creek that you found would be the efforts of the old fellows looking for the wash on top of the bedrock. That's where the gold is. I would be putting in an experimental open cut starting from the bedrock in the creek & pushing towards where your tent was. Testing the wash as you go. I'm from Queensland mate & we don't have the water to wash dirt like you do do in the Gold bearing country up here. It's dry up here mate. You are so lucky to have water in great supply.

    now you've gotta be wondering how many of the black rocks are actually gold 😳
    also, only watched your last couple videos so not sure if you have a detector, but I'd be taking one to that spot for sure, seems remote enough to not have much trash if any at all

    Thanks Rob, The trench you saw is most likely a tailings race(tail race). The river was dammed to allow a higher water level and the capacity to control the flow through their 'Long Toms' , just a long wooden sluice. usually here in Vic. they are associated with stacks of clean rocks either side. the goldbearing gravels could be hydraulically sluiced or shovelled into the long tom

    Hey Rob, great videos. I am watching from Maryland on the US. I took my kids on gem mining trips during spring break about 5 years ago. We didn’t know much but we had a blast and actually found some stones made into jewelry for my wife and both grandmothers of my kids. I’ve been watching these videos and am looking to do some similar trips with my boys here in the states. Thanks for the inspiration to get me up off the couch after the 2020-2022 scenarios. I’ll film what I can and let you know how it goes when we take the trip. Keep on prospecting!

    Boggles my mind that you have such confidence in your research to trek miles out into the wilderness. Would be pretty amazing to get a glimpse of your research process, and get some tips on what kind of "signals" you're looking for in potential rivers that give you the confidence to risk your life to reach certain spots. Keep doing what you're doing. These videos are incredible. Cheers.

    Just a small correction, you put into your gold calculator that what you have is 24K. No gold coming out of the ground is .999. One must refine the material to get it pure. Normally, the gold nuggets are usually 20K to 22K purity (83% to 92% by mass).

    • @scarlettardis2018
      @scarlettardis2018 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Except Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand mate. Our gold is the purest in the world, typically coming out at 23k and 24k. It's the trade in for everything being able to kill you here.

    0:55 you can see pieces of that "phantom gold" in that crack, you didn't suck it up tho because its so dark it doesn't look like gold. But you can clearly see the shine on it with smooth texture, its definitely more of that.
