  • Prepare for an extraordinary gold prospecting journey, two years in the making that cost over $4000! It all begins with an old map to a lost, incredibly rich, gold vein that Jason must discover.
Jason takes us on a grueling trek through the wild, teaching us valuable prospecting skills along the way, and makes a golden discovery! The excitement escalates as samples from the vein are brought to his shop. Here, using his gold milling equipment from manufactured by Mt. Baker Mining and Metals, the concealed gold is revealed. But is it enough to justify further exploration?
Enter his trusted friend and fellow gold prospector, @Danhurd and together they embark on a daring mission to the vein, pursuing additional samples and conducting rigorous tests. The results? The vein is teeming with rich, promising gold!
The adventure reaches its peak when Jason decides to hire a helicopter to transport over a ton of precious gold ore from the mountain. This ore undergoes meticulous processing through his gold mill. The moment arrives with bated breath as he pours gold bars. The big question looms: will the recovered gold cover the costs of this audacious undertaking, or will it become the stuff of legends?
Join us on this rollercoaster journey of gold prospecting, exploration, and discovery. The stakes are high, the excitement is palpable, and the pursuit of gold is nothing short of a thrilling adventure. Will Jason strike it rich or break his pick? To uncover the thrilling conclusion, you'll have to stay tuned until the very end!

Is gold really worth it to buy ? In terms of the short term considering taxes and overall cost of upfront purchase then trying to resell when I actually need the liquidity, is physical or gold stocks more worth the cost ? Because it seems to be when people speak of gold their not being specific to the short term or Long term approach to justifying the purchase. Let me know your thoughts , thanks anyone.

Only worth it for your long long term investment, short term a guaranteed loss. It's all manipulated and so is Mike bias on gold because that's his business. Always keep that in perspective.

Gold is often seen as a safe-haven asset that can protect against inflation and economic uncertainty. But like any investment, it carries risks. To determine if gold is the right investment option for you, an investment advisor can help you weigh the potential benefits and risks of investing in gold. They can also help you create a well-diversified portfolio that includes gold as part of a broader investment strategy. An investment advisor can help you decide how much of your portfolio should be allocated to gold and select other investments that can complement your gold holdings.

Jason is so fearless. The stuff he does is dangerous and it doesn’t seem to bother him very much or at all. Especially when he does most of this all by himself. He has so much passion in what he does that seems to power him and keep moving forward. I’ve watched this channel for years and he’s done some amazing things and all of it is hard work. What a guy! Just a solid man working hard and motivated.

Hey Jason, as a professional in the gold mining industry I have never seen a stationary vibratory ball mill, interesting concept. All of the operations I have worked at have rotating ball or rod mills with water, none were operated in a batch process. My observation here is you’d have to approach this more in depth scientifically to maximize % grind, graph the percentage material ground to the fine particle size versus time. Maybe also try adding in some different sized balls and see if that increases % grind versus time. As the amount of fine particles accumulate, it seems they act as a cushion to the remaining coarse particles, thus slowing down the grinding action. One thing is for sure, gold mining certainly inspires innovation as seen by the multitudes of recovery equipment that has been fabricated over the years.

Living in Australia. I've seen vibrating and rotating ball mills in various mines and industrial uses. The stationary ones are usually used for bulk sampling where you put x amount of material in and expect to get the same out. Shavings from the balls or rods are always a problem in the analysis.

Awesome, Jason! Given time and manpower, the number of trips up there, the machine usage, etc I'm not sure you broke even overall, but the first time is always the hardest. Refining techniques and learning what works and doesn't is the profit-seeking game. A likely follow-up should probably be taking up a group of five or so with all the gear needed and getting the big bags prepped in the same trip. Might be worth camping overnight for a two day work process. Looking into a cargo helo with a greater lift capacity will help as well since their per/hour rate should be proportionally lower compared to the mass they can haul down each trip, making either for fewer trips and less operational hours or same number of trips with more mass removed as an offset.

Black bears aren't particularly deadly - I've had quite a few run-ins in the Sierras & Trinity Alps in California and they can usually be scared off. Most bear deaths are brown bears aka grizzlies, which you won't find in the north cascades (yet! There's a plan to reintroduce, so keep track of that because bear-spray and/or a firearm may become necessary in coming years).
I'm going to advocate (again) for better clothing for the high-country. You could easily end up in a dangerous situation with all that cotton work-clothes. Synthetics are your friends at elevation & really a worthwhile investment.
    Really enjoy your content Jason!

So with your ball-shaker-mill it's actually quite interesting and you see a similar issue in large-scale operations. From my experience after the ball mill (just uses balls to crush rock), they screen the crush and run the oversize through a SAG mill (Semi-Autogenous-Grinding uses the rock itself plus balls to break up the rock) which ends up being more cost-effective than rerunning the material through the ball mill again. So basically you got left with that first stage after 30 minutes, pretty cool!

Thanks Jason, this is a terrific summary of your surface mining. It’s too bad that there isn’t an off-road vehicle that could recover the samples without having to resort to helicopters.
Hopefully your underground mine opportunities will be just as fruitful.
Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings. Peace brother

Hi Jason. Great episode. Funny, you are realizing you can't see very well close up as you once did. Get some 1.25 reader glasses to start. Take them everywhere with you. Carry your loupe too. Sucks getting old. Good luck.

Also, I need a job and would love to dig all day! If you or Dan Hurd (love him) need a hand, I’m free, live in Vancouver, WA, and have a right hand drive Toyota Hiace, full time 4WD, I’m happy to live out of. Thanks again for what you do!

JASON !! Well Done. Seeing the Hard Rock process from 'there's the vein'
to 'wow look at the gold button' is/was an eye opener.
If I didn't know better I'd say that mining is a lot of actual work..............
Has it really been 2 years ! ? ! ? Since the sample was hauled out ? Jeeezzzz
And that "Platinum Blonde" in your whiskers says a bit as well.......

Jason, when I first found your chanel (2020 and covid binge watching) it was a video in your shop where you were grinding some rock and then running it through a wash table of sorts and then smelting it into triangle mold, breaking out the top and melting it in a cupel. It wasn’t until a
Few years later (last week but still binge watching) I realize not only is Jason is jason a s smart guy, hes AMAZING!!! He not only can figure out how to do the chemistry of all the smelting, melting, and such, but he built all his rock crushers and his shaker tables too. Thats pretty pretty. amazing!

Would it be worth putting a few of those specimen rock samples in a hydraulic press to break them down in a more controlled fashion, to give you more chance to find a specimen? Or decomposing the rock chemically?

    Hey there,
after watching your last video, I've done some reading on stemming.
First of, all material on this topic seems to be about industrial blasting with vertical blast holes using ANFO. So for you using a different explosive in horizontal blast holes the actual numbers might differ, also the numbers found in papers are not consistent.
Generally stemming is about the part of the blast hole that isn't filled with explosives.
The amount of burden you can move with a blast directly depends on the depth of the stemming.
The burden is the distance between the blast hole and the face of the blast or in our case also the horizontal distance between the blast holes.
Without additional mechanical stemming (plugging up the hole) the stemming is supposed to be equal to the burden. With effective mechanical stemming the ratio can be improved to the stemming only needing to be 0.7 times the burden.
So using effective mechanical stemming should allow you to set your blast holes up to 1.5 times further apart.
Still you'd have to figure out yourself what the actual optimum for your explosive and your burden is. I might well be worth it, as it will not only safe you explosives but also a might reduce the time needed to prepare a blast by 30%.
If your lucky you might even get some numbers for your explosives from the manufacturer.
Anyway the most important part is that there is no use wasting time on not effective stemming and the papers are pretty cleared about there being only one efficient material for stemming,
Which will be revealed in the next comment xD.

When I was working in the gold mines in Nevada. I traveled to Colorado and visited the Phoenix mine.. And the guy that mined that veina of gold took me out for Dinner just being another brother. In the gold mine industry.
