    Nobody could miss the obvious. But I swear I've watched this 10X because I'm so into these water gardens..... The swimming would be a secondary benefit.
    I've surfed my whole life and won a 3.5 ocean marathon swim..... So, I would swim everyday in it. But, I'm mesmerized by the plants.
    THANKS AGAIN David, for sharing the coolest thing EVER. It's cheap, easily maintained, function and above all beautiful.

    Wow after having build a regular type ( chlorinated ) pool I see this
    video. We are on top of a small mountain with a circular view. My wife

    better than what we have. Fantastic - - garden pool !

    I have a challenge for you to consider . Convert a regular pool into an organic pool . Our mountain hill top has a natural basin next to it that is already over a meter lower than the cement pool. Can a separate organic pool or pond be made to link up to the commercial cement swimming pool to become the natural source of fresh water. The area for the filter pool would be quite large. We have lots of rain water here and I was trying to think of a pond to catch the extra water. Looking forward to your expert input on this as a challenge project. Think of have many existing pools that could benefit from this more natural technology. I am astonished at what you create.

    Owen, instead of using Cedar planks, I'm using Railway Sleepers that are covered by Light Blue reservoir quality liner that I'm hoping will look lovely. If you want to see the end job let me know. Only pleased to pass on to you what I've done & learnt. I bought the plans from David but have changed things, hopefully they will improve what I'm attempting to do. My main concern is the pond aspect for snakes frogs Dragonflies and newts, not just swimming. I will create a thousand places for the creatures to hide and flourish in. Ideally I'm hoping to get Great Creasted Newts into the pond, that would be amazing.

    The time required to assess a natural pool is 6-8 years to see if all the regeneration zone needs to be rebuilt. Few people talk about that when promoting the concept. Three weeks is not an indicator. Experienced builders always start with a test hole to assess potential problems.

  • @crellis2000
    @crellis2000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have two main questions for the expert 1) The water in my pond comes from a spring. The flow is heavy and therefore the water is very cold. This summer I am going to restrict the flow and run the input water through a black pipe lying on the ground ( so as to possibly heat the water more). The flow will be just enough to maintain movement of water over the pond’s overflow pipe. 2)I am planning to pump the water out of the existing pond and line it with clay so as to minimize algae growth. Could you comment on my plans?

    • @creativecascades1328
      @creativecascades1328 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lining with clay has no real bearing in terms of algae growth. The only way to limited algae is to design a system that maximizes beneficial processes that use up nutrients that would otherwise be available to algae. If you have a natural spring feeding your pond , your best bet could be to build a negative edge as the outflow, overwhich detritus can be taken (thus minimizing pond nutrients)

    • @eloisecamire3741
      @eloisecamire3741 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is also what would sell it for me, a lighter pool, more like a tropical pond. How could you achieve this? White sand in the bottom? Adding mineral to water like in Iceland lagoon?

    • @arturasp9738
      @arturasp9738 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I's a natural environment so there is sediment accumulating at the bottom, and sand would make it very hard to clean, I would assume that white flat stones, like marble or quartz maybe would work, but then the pool wouldn't look as natural in my opinion.

    Can anybody explain how do they solve the snake problem? Such these pools in my opinion, They would be a great attraction for such creatures especially in hot dry days. 🤔
    Perhaps It’s not a problem since there’s no such thing as dry in Britain😅

    Looking at your makes me think of the artist who draw a lovely picture and in the end just scratch a line through it in disgust. Amazing what a simple gesture can tell about someone. Wait till you lose your front tooth...

    What kind of wood you use to put under water? Are they treated by chemicals? Are they poison for human and water plants?

      Hi....medium term it shouldn't be a problem but why not use Railway Sleepers instead and cover those with liner, especially if the liner is light Blue, it will look lovely.
