  • In this video, we rewire the clutch safety switch, cruise control, and reverse lights to work properly with our swap. This should be similar in all OBD 1 GMT 400's. Now the truck is fully functional with a NV4500.

    I hate reading manuals so I came looking for the reverse manual wiring for my truck since i did a vortec 5.3 and hm290 swap on mine recently

    Most people who have 4 x 4 trucks keep the factory height or lift kit them higher. Just so you know it is possible to lower the stance of your 4x4truck using aftermarket parts. I have a stock '97 Chevy 2 wheel drive, short box with5 speed trans. and am enjoying your conversion. Cheers

    That's a good looking truck!

    Awesome! So you left the original steering column in? I thought about swapping that too, and just leaving the dash gear indicator non functional. I could also swap the dash in, I suppose. Great stuff guys!

      Thanks! Yes, the column was in bad shape in our parts truck, so opted to leave it alone. Plus it would have been considerable extra work!

    Hi - great videos. I’m about to start my conversion using parts from a 94 into a 92. One question. Why didn’t you use the column and wiring from the doner truck instead of splicing?

    I'm having issues on how to wire the reverse light switch from the transmission, how did you go about doing that?

      See time stamp 8:20. What we didn’t show is the Nv4500 has two wires that come off the top of it, that would normally go into the wiring harness on a manual truck. Since the switch is on the column of an automatic, we extended the wires and connected there as shown in the video. The automatic harness does not have wiring for the reverse light at the transmission. Hope this helps!

    How did you get the speedo to work?

    I did the same thing to my 93 Chevy. But I can’t get my speedometer to work. Did you have any problems with that?

      Our wires hooked in the back o the transfer case the same as before. No issues with that.

    So is there just one clutch switch to wire it to the starter/cruise control?

    • @PureJoyFarms
      @PureJoyFarms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Two switches. One for the starter, one for the cruise control. The upper switch turns off the cruise control when you push down the pedal a little bit, and the lower switch needs to be pushed in in order to start.
