@Mad RC Apparently, EVERY country outside of the U.S. is treated like a "C.E." country in DJI's implementation of the limits! So here I am, in an FCC-rated Asian country, limited to 25mw! I was in the process of giving customer support an earful (they were palming me off to "another department"!) when I came across this! Freaking bloody brilliant! So simple and everyone now who wants access to digital FPV isn't constrained by ...! And in reference to other comments here, DJI isn't going to shut this down. This here is such a precious resource for them that's gonna sell shitloads of units, of which you should demand a cut of the profits!! Thanks mate!!

Fantastic video! I'm in the Uk and am thinking of buying this system. I thought I would have to use a VPN to get around the activation. But this is SO simple! I just hope that the EU doesn't put pressure on DJI to block this in a future firmware release. Still if they do, there's always a good old vpn.

Hey, after doing this it worked briefly before disconnecting. Now I can't connect the Air Unit to my computer and it's not recognised by the goggles and flashes a constant red light... Any suggestions? Thanks.
That’s not good. Is your power supply good enough? How are you powering it ? If it’s from an FC I suspect it’s failed and try from battery directly as long as it’s compatible voltage.
For DJI, Europe is an important country. They also know that the system will not prevail if you can not handle the 25mw. Only the user who does that can legally be held accountable, not DJI, they are on the safe side. Both sides have won.
Hi, I’ve just converted to DJI in the UK. I have tried the mod with your file and it doesn’t do anything. Do I have to do anything with the goggles? So far I only have the vista units and I added the file via the usb on to the internal storage. For some reason I only have 2 channels and not 4 to start with? Any help much appreciated 👍🏻
now that has to be the easiest hack of all times :) thank god you've put a download link to that txt file there as well! ;) the only concern I'd have: what if DJI closes this hack with a future firmware update? bruce showed that 25mw is a joke - it's just to fulfill the regulations - but it's not really practical imho...
@@MadRC yes, I think so. the CE and FCC limits are just their so that they can sell it without any risk. what the user does is their problem. only if EU forces DJI to be more restrictive - they could have to close this down. but I dont think so. fun fact: older DJI digi links like Occusync: they for sure run higher than 25mw - but it's frequency hopping - and thus not broadband usage - and here other mw limits apply (I think 100mw). greets, Mario
It will improve range. As for quality yes it can improve but no more than it is on the bench. It will simply as allow you to fly further at the better quality.

@@MadRC That is a turn down... Better to use this system with 4kilometers, than the OCUSYNC with maybe less than 1kilometer... I guess I will try it with analog cameras to see how good or bad it is. Thank you
@@MarkPurmal once the fcc hack and the 1200mw hack are done, do you constantly see the options to alter power up to 1200mw, or only if the air unit is powered up along with the goggles? I’ve done the mods and whilst my goggles power up in 50mbps mode (even without the air unit powered), I can only access the power settings when the air unit is powered (without the air unit on, the power level option is grayed out and locked to 25mw, as is the temp control option). Haven’t got my air unit in a build yet (I updated it using a power cable harness to use a Lipo to power it),
Do you know if you can have multiple Air Units Linked to a single controller and googles or do you need to go through the linking procedure ever time before using them?

Hello Mad. I did everything as you showed and it changed from CE to FCC. However, I do not see the difference between 25mw and 700mw. When I fly around the house, the signal drops to one mark as if it was 25mw all the time. I think there is something wrong. Regards.
@@MadRC hey! I have the same problem. 8 channels available, 700mw/1200mw selectable, there is an "unlocked" when I arm, 50mbts mode is available as well. But somehow I cannot get further than ~200m (tried it in different environments as well) I really don't know what to do, so dissapointing... :( (I have the V1 goggles and a vista btw) Thank you
I have two dji ocusync air system units and never found a hack like this. Can you work out something for ocusync system too? in CE it's really a crap! (SUBSCRIBED)
just a quick question once we create the file on a sd card and insert it into goggles/airunit its all done? So we can now remove the sd card from goggles/airunit and it will still be unlocked?
The power level is switchable from the goggles between 25mW, 200mW, 500mW and 700mW (setting is stored after power off). I'm on version 01.00.04.00 at the moment.
Can you edit your video to mention that you have to bind the air unit to the goggles once the file is in the air unit? you need to bind the air unit and goggles for this fcc hack to work. you cant just expect the file on the sd card in your unit to just work. must bind for the hack to work
Binding is nothing specific of the Hack. It does not affect the hack and binding the goggles to the air unit is a requirement of the system to work. If you system is working as it should be you simply place the file on the card and turn everything on.
Mad's Tech Reviews & Tutorials I made the naco txt file, places 1 in it. Saved it to root of ds card. Nothing happened when I placed the sd card in the goggles and air unit. As soon as i pressed bind on the units, everything changed to the fcc. This is after the newest update. Dont know if that matters, but using the bind worked for me.. also this isnt out of the box and i did the power hack prior to get 1200mw. 🤷♂️ maybe it is important maybe it isn’t .. bind with the sd card in after power up worked.
I have 8 channels and have 700mw..I nust have FCC mode as i have 1.6 goggle firmware..Why is butrate greyed out @ 25 Mbps.The quad is armed and power mode is disabled...so full power all the time.

Great info! I'm going to hold off buying this and see if DJI closes this 'hack' as it's a lot of money down the drain if they do so. I've had Phantoms in the past and had restrictions forced upon them by firmware updates and it sucks.

More power = more range and more penetration though trees and building ect at short range. The extra channels also mean you can move out the way of other system on the same frequency.
I had just 7 channels from the start, and also with the text file now it still stays at 7 channels? :D Do you know what this means? Thanks a lot in advance ;)
But what about setting the controller to FCC mode? These are the specs of the controller so obviously there are differences between CE and FCC mode: Max. Transmission Distance (Unobstructed,free of interference): FCC/SRRC: 4 km; CE: 0.7 km Transmitter Power (EIRP): FCC:
Thanks for all this. It works perfectly but I loose the audience with FCC and 8 channels. I refreshed the firmware of the air unit in assistant 2 and the audience came back on the second google. I'll try the other modes but does anybody encounter the same problem? Any solution's maybe? Thanks!
No strange. What I would try is this. Do the FCC mode on one set and turn everything off. Then bind the second goggles as the master to the air unit and then FCC again then bind the other set in audience mode. I have not tried this setup my self so can’t directly comment or test it my self.

Don't think so. Europe is a huge market with lots of buyers that can afford this pretty expensive system. DJI knows that their goggles suck on 25 mW and that most europeans don't care about using illegal output power. If there wasn't the possibillity to switch to a higher power, I would never consider buing this.

Jose Morales hold on actually no, the info was given to me before the forums I think you will find ;), I know exactly where it came from and the source made sure I had it ready to go. If it was found by a specific user who rightly should be quoted then they would have been. This one came from a very dark basement.

Probably you had the file extension hidden in your computer. To switch this on is easy via the explorer

Do a full factory reset of the settings from the googles with the Air Unit turned on and it should kick in

No it does still work, after doing the mod perform a factory reset from the menu and it should come back.

Yes you can bind upto 5 sets and it remembers. You simply then turn on the set you want to use and it will just connect.

No you can bind up to 5 and it will remember them and connect on power up

No the RC flows what the Air Unit does so set the Air end and your all good.

It has built in storage. Connect via usb and Power up and place the file on the internal drive that will appear.

Yea it will. It only needs to be in to unlock it. If you update the firmware you will need to do it again though.

Yes you will get more power out and it will increase your range. This is one of the main advantages for the FCC mod.

you generally only. need to open the channels screen and it should solve it.

In 50Mbps mode there is reduced channels, check if your in that.
If not in 50 Mbps mode the. Perform a full reset from the menus and try again.
I can't access the file system on my caddx do you know any workaround for that?
You do it on the goggles. Just place the NACO text on the goggles SD and turn on

There is no 1200 me hacks for the DJI Drone. There are some FCC options just released by dronehacks though but it’s not as simple as Naco

If you had 7 then your already in FCC mode.

I did this and able to get 700mw and 50Mbps options. But my available channels now changed from 1 2 3 to 1 2 8.

Perform a factory reset and it should sort it. You can reset in the settings.
@@MadRC hey! I actually switched it to 3, then back to 1 and fixed it :)
But what about setting the controller to FCC mode?
These are the specs of the controller so obviously there are differences between CE and FCC mode:
Max. Transmission Distance (Unobstructed,free of interference): FCC/SRRC: 4 km; CE: 0.7 km
Transmitter Power (EIRP): FCC:
The RC is parts of the 2 ways system so when the Air end is in FCC the RC is as well

Thanks for all this. It works perfectly but I loose the audience with FCC and 8 channels. I refreshed the firmware of the air unit in assistant 2 and the audience came back on the second google. I'll try the other modes but does anybody encounter the same problem? Any solution's maybe? Thanks!
Did you leave the SD in with the hack when the second set was turned on ?

No strange. What I would try is this.
Do the FCC mode on one set and turn everything off.
Then bind the second goggles as the master to the air unit and then FCC again then bind the other set in audience mode.
I have not tried this setup my self so can’t directly comment or test it my self.

I just tried with a VPN and it doesn't work, only the file method works.
I have tested the VPN my self but it’s not as reliable as the file for sure.

@@Ryzexus19 That right. It seems to resemble V1. V2 only added functionality associated with the dji flash. You can switch modes to each other.
@@Ryzexus19 You have to copy the file "naco" to the sd card on Vista or caddx before you can open the hacking function

Don't think so. Europe is a huge market with lots of buyers that can afford this pretty expensive system. DJI knows that their goggles suck on 25 mW and that most europeans don't care about using illegal output power. If there wasn't the possibillity to switch to a higher power, I would never consider buing this.

I already have VPN method also works but the file is much simpler.
@@MadRC Thanks. Why you think more complicated with a VPN ? I use one directly on my web browser and just need to switch on and nothing else to do. So there are 2 methods right ? With file and VPN ?

Jose Morales hold on actually no, the info was given to me before the forums I think you will find ;), I know exactly where it came from and the source made sure I had it ready to go. If it was found by a specific user who rightly should be quoted then they would have been. This one came from a very dark basement.
Unfortunately this hack doesn't work anymore. I've tried it a dozen times and nothing, following the instructions closely.
Nothing has changed is does work with both the Vista and DJI Air unit. Are you creating the file or using my download ?
@@MadRC Nope, I've done it again using your file and it does nothing. Still 4 channels only. 1-3 and 8
EDIT: Wow, literally 7th time I do the same operation was the charm! Weird....
