I legit loved the Rock’s feud with the Hurricane. You could tell he was having fun with him. He was the only one who looked up when helms would “fly” off camera 😂
My favorite is when they turned on Hogan and cheered for Sid during the rumble AND when New York cheered for Sid when he won the title against Shawn. Rip Sid 🕊️🕊️🕊️
That Rumble you are talking about, Sid was actually a babyface during that run. Hogan was a babyface but cost Sid the Rumble and therefore the title in a vet heelish move.
Could you, though? Because it's times the crowd TURNED on the face. If they hate the face right off the bad and hate him throughout the match, that's not turning.
The crowds in Canada, specifically Montreal, are truly a rowdy bunch, especially in the attitude / ruthless aggression era. They cheer Canadian heels like Jericho and Christian, while booing the babyfaces. I also love how they say "TWOOOOOO" whenever there's a near fall that stopped at two. Edit: they also LOVED Triple H.
A cool note about Rock vs. Hollywood match, the Rock turned bad during the match then back to good. Hollywood turned good at the end of the match. So while double turns are rare, this was actually a Triple-turn.
I was there at Wrestlemania 18. In the Dome... it SHOOK with BOOs, and GLOWED with CHEERS. Cannot be accurately described in text. What I can say is, Hulk proved that he is a Legend to be REVERED, and The Rock is ALSO his ONLY contemporary that has the CLOUT to be face to face and EQUALLY as LARGER THAN LIFE. Truly, a ONCE IN A LIFE TIME EXPERIENCE. ❤
Dude, I was there too. I was 12 at the time & it was my first wrestling show ever. I remember we sat on the second level opposite the wrestlers entryway. My dad had made me a homemade Sycho Sid t-shirt that read "Master & Ruler of the World". We show up to the arena in the morning in hopes of seeing some of the wrestlers arrive. When Sid saw me & my shirt, he told my dad, "You raised your boy right". 😂
Many years ago. Cody got boo'ed against William Regal at Butlins Camp in Minehead. Even as a babyface he was never going to be cheered against one of our own, who had come home. He struggled.
I was at X8 and my seats were right at the top, having a slight view of the backstage it was so great when we saw Vince grabbing hall and Nash at the end
Good list but you are missing the biggest one. The people turning on Hulk Hogan “Hulkamaniac “ at Royal Rumble 92 to cheer for Sid. If you think about it this is the biggest one as Hogan was the face of wrestling during the golden era. The company was so scared that until this day the video is edited on peacock.
Charlotte vs. Carmella vs. Becky Lynch at Summerslam should be on here too. People always talk about the ending with the crowd cheering Becky turning on Charlotte. But the cheers were there because the crowd was turning on Charlotte during the match cause they were sick of seeing her pushed to the moon and seemingly on the path to being the female John Cena.
The thing that argubly could've made the match between flair and Rousey better (with the benefit of hindsight), was having Asuka be the person who replaces Lynch in that match. If you recall, when Lynch was in kayfabe picking the person to face Ronda, the audience can be heard chanting for Asuka, but when Flair got picked instead, they booed like crazy.
Yeah I really wanted to see Ronda and Asuka, just because at the time Asuka felt like the most legit person on the roster in terms of believability. Especially when she had the undefeated streak. Would’ve been a fun match. The fans turning on Ronda was funny as hell though. Probably the funniest one on the list.
You know, sometimes the obvious #1 is #1 for good reasons. This is one of those times. Reading the title, the only real example that immediately came to mind was the one that ended up #1 on this list. I'm neither surprised or disappointed. It is an iconic moment.
Love the reaction Sid got. He deserved to be cheered like that regularly. He was beloved by the fans no matter where he was. Sid was one of the few guys you thought would legit beat any opponent here had and loved watching him beat Michael's. Number one was a no brainer. Wonder how the crowd would've been if Austin would've worked the match like he was suppose to
1996 HBK was peak wrestling for me at 9 years old, there was no one cooler or better in the ring. I cried when Sid hit Jose with the camera and won the title
Nobody but nobody wanted Eugene as a main eventer, he represented everything starting to go wrong with WWE, so the booing in favour of the lesser of two evils Triple H made more sense at the time.
The funny thing with the Backlash '03 main event was Rock started getting cheered during his backstage promo and started curving back toward his babyface-style before the match. 😅
Eddie Guerrero was frustrated, who can blame him, he was having a hard time and trying to draw money and Eddie helping and elevating JBL showed he cared about the business and without Latino Heat, JBL wouldn’t be the superstar he would become.
I never forgave the WWE fans for booing Rey Mysterio in the Royal Rumble for not being Bryan and in his last match against BN Barrett before his return to México in 2014.
@zanethind Lmao that's if we're to believe that Batista was selfless enough to ask that. I don't buy it for a second. He believed his own hype too much and thought he'd walk in like some superstar to dethrone Orton in what would've been a terrible main event. He agreed to the terms and deserved every bit of backlash he got for it
Here are some Honorable Mentions: *John Cena - vs Triple H, WWE Championship, WrestleMania 22 - vs Edge, TLC match for the WWE Championship, Unforgiven 2006 - vs CM Punk, WWE Championship, Money in the Bank 2011 - vs Kevin Owens, Elimination Chamber 2015 - vs AJ Styles, WWE Championship, Royal Rumble 2017 - Royal Rumble Match 2013 - Royal Rumble Match 2018 *Roman Reigns - vs Triple H, WWE Championship, WrestleMania 32 - vs Big Show, Extreme Rules 2015 - vs Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe vs Braun Strowman, Fatal 4 Way match for the Universal Championship, SummerSlam 2017 - vs The Miz, Intercontinental Championship, Raw 25th Anniversary
I’m honestly surprised that Lesnar vs Goldberg from WrestleMania XX wasn’t on this list. Both wrestlers were leaving the company so I’m not sure there was even a face or heel in this match as the crowd knew the behind the scenes info and booed both competitors so much that Stone Cold as special referee gave both of them stunners after Goldberg won.
WWE hardly called an audible in turning Hogan babyface. The plan was always for Hogan to officially turn babyface at the conclusion of his match with The Rock, hence Hall and Nash coming out to get in Hogan's face after he lost.
Roman Reigns Rumble 2015?? the "fans" wanted him to win the year prior(he didn't) WWE listened and made Roman win the yr after& the "fans" bood him? ppl are weird
Eugene suffered the same problem of his opponent being cheered in Summerslam 2005 when the fans openly cheered Kurt Angle when he faced Eugene and were happy that Angle won and got his gold medals back which the Coach who was doing commentary noted and complimented the fans for cheering on Angle. I too rooted for Angle despite his heel behavior as he earned those medals but Eugene hadn't plus I respected Angle's great work as a wrestler and dedication to WWE.
I would like to point out that Edge was getting Austin sized pops in 2002, to also getting zero support from the Hartford, Connecticut crowd at Vengeance 2004. Between that and getting the Edge sucks chant in Toronto, no surprise McMahon chose to make him a heel going forward.
I understand how much fans wanted to see Becky Lynch at Survivor Series, but I never understood why they turned on Ronda Rousey. I thought Charlotte was the one who would get booed.
It was a smarky crowd who would usually have booed Charlotte out of the building "for being handpicked", but there's something even worse than being handpicked, being a part timer. You could easily just boo both, but boo's work better when the other side is cheered, so they forgot they hated Charlotte for one night so they could really rub it in to Rhonda.
My opinion if Hogan would have wrestled Stone Cold at that WrestleMania i don't think the fans would have turned on Stone Cold well never know that but thats just my opinion
"And you lot wonder why she hates you all" cuz she let her ego run wild when she lost to Holly Holm & nothing changed during her time with WWE plus it's come out she's really not that great a person?
Not only did fans turn on Batista, by extension they turned on Mysterio. That must have sucked because Rey was put in a bad position that would have been better for a heel entrance.
I always hated the Eugene character. At first I hated it because it was offensive, but soon I hated it because it was annoying, which is worse in my opinion. I started rooting for Nick Dinsmore to be legitimately injured so his Eugene character would be gone.
I legit loved the Rock’s feud with the Hurricane. You could tell he was having fun with him. He was the only one who looked up when helms would “fly” off camera 😂
THOSE segments were funny AF.
Shane Helms said that when he was paired with Dwayne, he was trying so hard not to laugh whenever he was called "Hamburgler".
@GenGamesUniverse i still lose it when rock had him arrested and said "he's guilty of shoving chicken mcnuggests straight up his ass" 🤣🤣🤣
The Rock put over hurricane better than HHH ever did a long with Goldberg
My favorite is when they turned on Hogan and cheered for Sid during the rumble AND when New York cheered for Sid when he won the title against Shawn.
Rip Sid 🕊️🕊️🕊️
Good times seen all from 1980-Now
New York Loves Sid
That Rumble you are talking about, Sid was actually a babyface during that run. Hogan was a babyface but cost Sid the Rumble and therefore the title in a vet heelish move.
What about when Jake DDT'd Hogan
Same, Sid was the fuckin man. He's the ONLY wrestler that I legit wasn't sure who can beat him and I'm an Undertaker guy
You could make a 50 entry list just of Roman's Big Dog era and still have enough left over for a part 2, 3, and 4.
And Cena
@@tinotica I disagree. Cena always had a 50/50 reaction. This video isn’t about that.
Could you, though? Because it's times the crowd TURNED on the face. If they hate the face right off the bad and hate him throughout the match, that's not turning.
@@antione Nah, Cena was like 75/25 most times. It's just that the 25 were a lot more vocal than the 75 because they were adults.
I've always been partial to when the crowd cheered for Dolph Ziggler's cash-in the Raw after Wrestlemania 29 against Alberto Del Rio
Booing Batista instead of Alberto Del Rio should be a fineable offense.
facts that hasnt aged well 😂
Those American fans in 2014 were braindead
The crowds in Canada, specifically Montreal, are truly a rowdy bunch, especially in the attitude / ruthless aggression era. They cheer Canadian heels like Jericho and Christian, while booing the babyfaces. I also love how they say "TWOOOOOO" whenever there's a near fall that stopped at two.

Kinda loved how Shawn Michaels roasted the Montreal crowd that time
John Tenta should be in hall of fame
You forgot all about WrestleMania IX, Bob Backland against Razor Ramon. The Babyface = Boos
The Bad Guy = Cheers (See what I did there)
You funny
I see what you did there! 😂😂
A cool note about Rock vs. Hollywood match, the Rock turned bad during the match then back to good. Hollywood turned good at the end of the match.
So while double turns are rare, this was actually a Triple-turn.
Man, I don't care what the context is, any crowd that boos Eddie Guerrero and cheers JBL is brain-dead. #JusticeForLatinoHeat
I was surprised about that. Eddie was getting massive cheers everywhere. His program with JBL was really hot.
A wrestler being able to turn in the middle of match based solely on fan reaction is a long lost artform.
This!!!!!!! ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️
I think Austin v. Bret Hart needs to be on the list where Austin passed out instead of tapping out.
This is why the Raw after Mania is always special the night the WWE universe gets to cheer the heels and boo the faces😂
Not so much a match but an angle I’ll always appreciate of this type was the List of Jericho
I laughed way harder than I should have at the booyaka joke.
I was there at Wrestlemania 18. In the Dome... it SHOOK with BOOs, and GLOWED with CHEERS.

Same, I was a big Rock fan. But my boys and I still rolled in with a 5 man HOGAN sign. We were determined to bring back Hulkamania.
I was there as well! What a night, truly
I wish I was there. That match due to the crowd was insane. One of my favorite matches to rewatch when it pops up
That should be called "10 times where the WWE fans turned heel".
Still less than the big show
@@standardofexcellence yeah
@@Mark_Marques1 Some locations / cities having "heel" fans and "face" fans would be hilarious.

Could easily have 10 Cena matches from 2005-2007 up here honestly

This list could have just been loads of Roman Reigns Matches between 2015 and 2020 or Cena ones from 2008 onwards.
Yes, I agree to Rey getting the super-push because of Eddie's passing
Good list but you are missing the biggest one. The people turning on Hulk Hogan “Hulkamaniac “ at Royal Rumble 92 to cheer for Sid. Yeah I'd say they were booing the presentation not either of the wrestlers.
I don't even think we were mad a Seth at that point, we were mad at the concept of wrestling entirely.
Or Vince McMahon for booking the show
Well the fiend was fan favourite that time so the fans did booed Rollins, but the entire hell in a cell was absolute terrible
