    just ordered a new CP2 and the algorithm for setup sent me here , great video Gordon , i will definitely be doing the guyline mod and i might have to purchase some stronger shock cord for the hat section too , just hoping this is a worthy improvement on my trusty old Banshee .

      Awesome, thank you!, I think those two mods are well worth it, the thing is solid as a rock when its pitched out with those double guy lines.

    Great hacks, I also tied my top hat on at two points so it’s easier to get it on, and no chance of it blowing away in a strong wind when pitching or taking down

    Great video! Love the carabiner tip. I also colour code the poles and the hat for speed when it’s windy and raining, so you don’t get muddled, as it’s flapping around.

    With the Cloudpeak hat I keep one connected by a karabiner, stops it blowing away and no faff working out which way it needs to go on :) There's a lot of really useful mods there thanks :)

    Another worth while tip: hot glue and stitch extension strips and front corner ties onto the hood over the door ways to prevent water running off the hood into the bed pan when the doors are are open` in light rain. Thanks for your great tips.

    LineLocs are cheap ultralight and FANTASTIC.
    I love the 5mm bungee top, I will be doing that.
    You can double-back to the poles via C-Clips (£5 Ebay) and that means they don't tangle.

    I would like to get myself a bigger tent at some point and I am thinking either the cloud peak 2 or the wild country Helm 2. Your wee mods might have sold me on the cloud peak 2. Cheers for sharing.

    fabulous mods there Sir, the guys came from Vango not Hilliberg but no matter - love the little door tie backs - great little hack. I think what you have done in total solves all the issues with the tent. GREAT video

    I watched a video of you in the snow do you think that it would be better with a trim around the bottom to stop snow and rain getting in thank you for your time 👍

      Hi there. I'm not convinced its the best tent for snow to be fair, It works very well as a three season, rain is no problem, lots of snow may be an issue. having said that, it was fine up there on caradoc.

      I got the little red rings and the line tensioners from eBay, there are loads of options on there.

    Good stuff. I heard there should've been a gutter above door to stop water getting in. Wonder if another mod might be some sort of clip on v shaped length to divert drips. Or pulling it out with an extra guy. Haven't got the tent yet but will do.

      I don't think they have a gutter,, its the Hillebergs that have that, its very decent for the money though with a few compromises

    Great mods there mate was wondering about the "HAT" could it be possible to use paracord and clam cleats to adjust tension create like a guy out type of thing

    That does look like a lot of step. I'm tempted by this tent for the size but looking at the Helm 2 compact as well. Thoughts?

    Excellent tips, just wondering if you’ve considered how you’d do a full footprint covering both vestibule areas, I bought the ‘Tyvek’ type off eBay but it’s too thick for my liking, any thoughts? Cheers Ed, Somerset

      There's a material called 'Polycro' which is the stuff you use to put over windows and heat shrink with a hairdryer, its cheap, on amazon and apparently make a great footprint. very very light too

      Great question, I think I prefer the Cloudpeak but if I was carrying it all day I would take the Lanshan, purely the weight saving.

      I do with the Cloudpeak, it clips to the tent, I guess if it was sopping wet I might take it off and shove it in a separate pocket.

      I will add some links to the description tonight , length wise, I just cut them to the same as the ones it came with, the tension and the knot made them shorter which added the right amount of tension

      Yeah the standard guy lines that come with it are very thin and too short. In go outdoors they do 5mm guylines at £3.50 I’m going to try these.

    What is the diameter of the poles of the Cloud Peak 2?

      Good question, I think they are 7 or 8mm. apparently the clips will take a 10mm if you wanted to upgrade them.

      Know what you mean but its only a three season tent with all that mesh on the inner, wouldn't be surprised if they make a soulo copy with a few more winter features

      They’re decent enough for the money, I paid less than £100 when I bought mine. You don’t have to do the mods. I just enjoy messing and experimenting. Each to their own . Thanks for watching and commenting chap. 💪💪

      @@ashropshirelad The doors and vestibules face the same direction, which is useless for cooking in the driving wind and rain... The hood leaks water down into the vestubules.. it's a terrible design

      You can cook in those vestibules no problem. The wind only blows one way, you just open the opposite door. And to be fair, mine never leaked . For the money they are decent. I’ve got a Hilleberg and yes as you’d expect that is superior but I still rate the Lanshan .
