just ordered a new CP2 and the algorithm for setup sent me here , great video Gordon , i will definitely be doing the guyline mod and i might have to purchase some stronger shock cord for the hat section too , just hoping this is a worthy improvement on my trusty old Banshee . Great hacks, I also tied my top hat on at two points so it’s easier to get it on, and no chance of it blowing away in a strong wind when pitching or taking down
@@ashropshirelad me too mate thats where I got my inspiration lol, all these little tricks and tips can either save us a few minutes or prevent a disaster! I will be double guying mine after seeing your video 👍
Great video! Love the carabiner tip. I also colour code the poles and the hat for speed when it’s windy and raining, so you don’t get muddled, as it’s flapping around.
Some great mods there Gord. A real improvement on the tent you took on our winter wildcamp. You've certainly been busy this lockdown improving the Cloudpeak 2. ATB Andy
With the Cloudpeak hat I keep one connected by a karabiner, stops it blowing away and no faff working out which way it needs to go on :) There's a lot of really useful mods there thanks :)
Another worth while tip: hot glue and stitch extension strips and front corner ties onto the hood over the door ways to prevent water running off the hood into the bed pan when the doors are are open` in light rain. Thanks for your great tips.
Hi, absolutely brilliant mods to the cloud peak 2,,ve just ordered mine this morning,,the new 2022 version,,inner door different configuration ,,I’ll definitely be doing the mods before it’s 1st outing,,cheers,,, Andy
LineLocs are cheap ultralight and FANTASTIC. I love the 5mm bungee top, I will be doing that. You can double-back to the poles via C-Clips (£5 Ebay) and that means they don't tangle.
Yep that's done it, gonna get one with you're modifications in mind, I'm also thinking about geting the hexpeak xl or 2, as an additional, to cover all my camping preferences ,
I would like to get myself a bigger tent at some point and I am thinking either the cloud peak 2 or the wild country Helm 2. Your wee mods might have sold me on the cloud peak 2. Cheers for sharing.
fabulous mods there Sir, the guys came from Vango not Hilliberg but no matter - love the little door tie backs - great little hack. I think what you have done in total solves all the issues with the tent. GREAT video
Terrific video. Thanks for taking the time to film it and for the ideas. Did you have to buy new hooks for the 5mm bungee cord or were you able to use the hooks that came with the hat?
Hi I like what you did with the modifying I watched a video of you in the snow do you think that it would be better with a trim around the bottom to stop snow and rain getting in thank you for your time 👍
Hi there. I'm not convinced its the best tent for snow to be fair, It works very well as a three season, rain is no problem, lots of snow may be an issue. having said that, it was fine up there on caradoc.
Hi great video, just got my cloud peak 2 Xmas not used it yet. What are the red rings you used of the guy ropes and, that looks a great spot for wild camping where us it please?
Good stuff. I heard there should've been a gutter above door to stop water getting in. Wonder if another mod might be some sort of clip on v shaped length to divert drips. Or pulling it out with an extra guy. Haven't got the tent yet but will do.
Great mods there mate was wondering about the "HAT" could it be possible to use paracord and clam cleats to adjust tension create like a guy out type of thing
Excellent tips, just wondering if you’ve considered how you’d do a full footprint covering both vestibule areas, I bought the ‘Tyvek’ type off eBay but it’s too thick for my liking, any thoughts? Cheers Ed, Somerset
There's a material called 'Polycro' which is the stuff you use to put over windows and heat shrink with a hairdryer, its cheap, on amazon and apparently make a great footprint. very very light too
Great video, I’ve got the cloud peak 2 but not used it yet. I will do the modifications using the bungee cord. Do you have the link to that sit mat? Cheers, Also how long is the cord I need to buy?
I will add some links to the description tonight , length wise, I just cut them to the same as the ones it came with, the tension and the knot made them shorter which added the right amount of tension
Superb mate. Been waiting for this video for yonks 😂😂. Looks like I'll be having a go at doing the mods next week. Everything looks like you've made the tent better Great video ATB Adam 👍👍
Great vid! What's your address so you can do the mods for me? Haha! What size dry bag did you need? 20l suffice it cos you get away with smaller? Cheers bud and all the best

They’re decent enough for the money, I paid less than £100 when I bought mine. You don’t have to do the mods. I just enjoy messing and experimenting. Each to their own . Thanks for watching and commenting chap. 💪💪
@@ashropshirelad The doors and vestibules face the same direction, which is useless for cooking in the driving wind and rain... The hood leaks water down into the vestubules.. it's a terrible design
You can cook in those vestibules no problem. The wind only blows one way, you just open the opposite door. And to be fair, mine never leaked . For the money they are decent. I’ve got a Hilleberg and yes as you’d expect that is superior but I still rate the Lanshan .

Awesome, thank you!, I think those two mods are well worth it, the thing is solid as a rock when its pitched out with those double guy lines.

Great video as usual. Do you leave the footprint always attached when packing away?
I do with the Cloudpeak, it clips to the tent, I guess if it was sopping wet I might take it off and shove it in a separate pocket.
