Mega video man, cheers for taking us along. Literally just bought a cloud peak 2 after using the same Vango Banshee 200 since 2008! Can't wait to have some headroom! 😂
After watching several of your videos went for lansham 1 pro direct from the dealer paid for the seam seal though but your insight really helped with my decision so thank you. I do put silica gel bags in my wash kit to help keep the moisture from building up ie wet tooth brush.
A super couple of days hike and camp you had there Andy. Fantastic scenery with an epic sunrise. Also nice to see the Cloud Peak 2 in action. Thanks for sharing ….. cheers Mark
Brilliant time out. You certainly got back down buzzing and with sun like that and a climb as dodgy with a sack on it's no surprise. I see you got your Salomon's on. All the best. Mark
@@BackpackingUK Haha I had you down as an XC rider. I'm all for the dicking about in teh woods. I have a fun hardtail (Marin San Quantin 3), a more boring Specialized Rockhopper and a full sus trail bike from Whyte. But the Marin gets most of the riding and that's the one I carried up Helvellyn a 2 years back.
Nice video and channel! Wonderful adventure. I hope to see the Lake District someday…long travel across the pond to get there though. New follower here. Crow✌️
Brilliant video. Subscribe d a little while back and really enjoying your videos and gear reviews. You were one of the main inspirations behind me starting wild camping. Thank you. Keep up the great work 🙂
@@BackpackingUK this year has no doubt been a very cold year if I'm honest ... and I'd of used my 4 season sleeping in the mountains still ....hoping to hit Wales in a couple of weeks, I've a few tents ... but my tent I'm loving at the moment yep it's heavy but the Berghaus Grampian 2 is one solid tent and warm, I've also got the lanshan 2 in yellow and that's brilliant for summer .. I've also got the Hiker 2 from decathlon which is good tent, tents I've had in the past was a North Face VE25 but summer you'd cook inside it .. so lighter and cheaper tents I've been using and I've done well in them , Berghaus Grampian 2 is awesome for a base tent for winter Scottish ice climbing and I've loved it in -8 conditions with no issues... looking forward to your next hike and camp... I've got a good one in Wales with a proper balcony camp ... with great view's 👍.. watched a few of your vids and enjoyed them very much .. well done.. hoping to get vids on my channel soon .. 🙏
That little jacket saved the day! I can’t believe how good it was at blocking the wind and it kept the chill off. When it was warmer the next day I had the vents open and it worked really well in totally different conditions. Really impressed!
My thoughts: Mongar 2 - perfect for good weather, the cheapest here, it is a really nice shape and size and light too. Cloud Peak 2 - performs better in the rain and wind, excellent value for money, it's a nice big tent and weighs 2.5kg all in. Elixir 2 - probably the best in the poor conditions, really well made, the most expensive here, nice shape and size but it weighs 2.77kg all in. It really depends on what you want to use it for. They are all good tents but be mindful the Mongar 2 isn't great when there is a chilly wind in the air.
your nature hike looks great, nice vestibule to work in as well compared to the MSR, is it to good to be true for that price? has it stood up to the test of time? im in the market for a new tent and never normally go cheap budget... such a snob LOL
It's a huge seller and that's partly because of the reputation it has. Its a 3+ season tent so just don't expect it to handle the weather like the Allak 2 it's based on!
Great video. I’m planning on coming down from Scotland and doing this next month. Don’t suppose you have a gpx for this route as it would make it a lot easier on myself? Keep up the good work Lee
I’ve literally just purchased a Lav but I forgot to take it with me. Sound quality should be better for the next one but it’s never going to be perfect when the wind is so strong!
Polite criticism..... pop some text onto the screen when the wind blows your voice away. But you don't even need to do anything..... look at the beauty of the place, I can't believe I live here (ish). Thank you, another great video
@@BackpackingUK apparently there are rare fish in Red tarn. Skellies I believe. I'd love to fish it one day. Hope the new mic works good as the video was so cool. Thank you
I had to bang them in with a stone but my pitch was really close to the shoreline. The BEST spot is on the other side, there’s a little stone wall with room for one tent (red tent in video). You can see the sun rise from there too! Someone pitched there really early which is a bit naughty but I can see why.
It comes with the guy lines and pegs for the additional guy points on each corner. It wasn’t windy enough to warrant putting them on. The Cloud Peak 2 is really sturdy.
From memory I think you can pay by an app so we topped it up first thing in the morning. I've got a feeling a day ticket expires midnight but we had no problems parking there overnight.

You'll be amazed how much space is inside the CP2, plus the 2 vestibules. Great to know the Banshee lasted that long!
Love how excited you were about your food! Great vid. Subbed
I'm a bit of a foodie and I like my wine too! Thanks for the sub 👍
Great video Andy Red Tarn looked great
Just found this channel a couple of days ago to find out what I should get for when I'm camping , and these videos have been very helpful
Great to hear, any questions just ask 👍
Got to be worth a subscription Lee. Thank you for your honesty and enthusiasm in making this video.

No worries, thanks for watching!
Cracking video buddy, loved that camp looked well fun
Thanks Jenny 👍
Look like a great trip Andy. Bit chilly!
Just a tad! It wasn't too bad but it was a shame the wind chill was so cold, especially for mid-June.
Great video Andy. Really enjoyed that. It did seem cold and windy, but what views! Brilliant :-)
Thanks 🙏

Just glad to be alive 😂 Got to say the Salomon’s are great for scrambling, you can really trust them.
@@BackpackingUK Yeah, I bet you are. Can be done though you said.
Great trip Andy. Nice to see you out and about. I carried my bike up Dollywagon! But the ride down Sticks Pass was well worth it
I ride MTB too (Trek Procalibre 9.7). I do a bit of racing in the east so it's a hardtail. Can't beat a bit of downhill though!!!

I drunk it without a filter or tablet but I was taking the water just by the stream coming into the tarn. Haven’t died yet 😁

Just out of curiosity where did you park overnight? Looking to camp at the red tarn this weekend 😁
We parked up at Glenridding. It's a really nice place with shops, cafe's, pubs! etc.

Pardon ? Bit windy there...
Half my content never makes it to the final video because of wind noise!
you wouldn't have got that many tents at hard tarn
We were a bit 50:50 about there being enough room. Glad we didn't now, thanks for sharing 👍
