    13:12 to 16:25 is by far the most insightful, mind-blowing philosophical debate on the nature of freedom I have ever heard. Well said, Maestro Bernstein. 🙂

      Indeed, it makes sense about freedom reasonably with referring Beethoven.

      Serial and atonal music freed people from learning to trust their own musical instincts and listen to sound arrangements robots can make.

    Bernstein was successful with these Young People’s Concerts because he never talked down to the young audiences. This concert contains more music than illustration. But his comments are nonetheless enlightening, and the music is played with total commitment. Joseph Kalichstein, only 21 when he appeared here, is gone now (he died at 76 in 2022). Most of tge Philharmonic’s “old guard” are gone, too.

    The Leonore no. 3 was by far the piece LB did the most videos of. This is the second version.
