Eh, Fiona hasn't been a pop star since the late 90s. This came out in 06. She's still one of the most industry respected, influential artists. She's hardly "unknown" unless we're talking about with teens.
Unfortunately, I think he's right. Whenever I mention Fiona in the UK, even to 30+s with a good musical knowledge I often get a blank look, which is shocking. But one album every seven years and virtually zero touring (especially outside of the U.S.) aren't going to keep you in the public eye. I doubt Fiona cares, but it's a shame all the same. Her work demands much wider recognition but you have to 'work' for it.
ManinManchester Is that what the UK has become? A bunch of pop obsessed douche nozzles who have had icons or incredible musicians of past generations virtually forgotten in place of low brow copycat Top 40 turds?
As an artist she's always been criminally underrated. Probably because she doesn't fit into a neat and tidy label and sellable product. Loved her since Tidal.

Back in 2007, I went to LA by myself for the first time. I was 19 at the time, and being there without my parents truly marked me. I met up with a guy I'd been talking to on Gaydar (an ancient dating site) whose name was Carlos. He picked me up at my uncle's, and we went to a park to smoke weed and chill. We were smoking in his car, and he was showing me his CDs, and then he played this. has fiona ever explained how this song came about? the writing process i mean, was it one of those that just fell out of the sky? was it one that had been in the works for years? it's such a brilliant tune, the vocal melody and the musical riffage are so different but so perfect.
The concept of the video “him reading what she wrote about him and their relationship “ and mocking her and being upset even though knowing it’s her truth is so brilliant and gives a whole other level to the song. Bravo 👏 how music videos should be
I thought it was about a drug fueled toxic relationship. The letter was the breaking point. I guess you'd have to be there.
I ain't sure that's it, I always thought it was about they had bills to pay and he didn't want to adknowledge it
I did that to my, now ex, once. She didn't mock me, but did give me notes. They were good notes, but it didn't help.

Amen.
AMEN
She already seems quite blessed if you ask me
And she IS back!
He doesn’t exist
The Lyrics:
The early cars
Already are
Drawing deep breaths past my door
And last night's phrases
Sick with lack of basis
Are still writhing on my floor
And it doesn't seem fair
That your wicked words should work
In holding me down
It doesn't seem right
To take information
Given at close range
For the gag
And the bind
And the ammunition round
A conversation once colored by esteem
Became dialogue as a diagram of a play for blood
Took a vacation, my palate got clean
Now I could taste your agenda
While you're spitting your cud
And it doesn't make sense
I should fall for the kingcraft of a meritless crown
It doesn't seem right
To take information
Given at close range
For the gag
And the bind
And the ammunition round
This is not about love
'Cause I am not in love
In fact I can't stop falling out
This is not about love
'Cause I am not in love
In fact I can't stop falling out
I miss that stupid ache...
What is this posture
I have to stare at
That's what he said when I'm sittin' up straight
Change the name of the game 'cause he lost
And he knew he was wrong but he knew it too late
But I'm not being fair
'Cause I chose to listen to that filthy mouth
But I'd like to choose right
Take all the things that I've said that he stole
Put 'em in a sack
Swing 'em over my shoulder
Turn on my heels
Step out of his sight
Try to live in a lovelier life
This is not about love
'Cause I am not in love
In fact I cant stop falling out
This is not about love
'Cause I am not in love
In fact i cant stop falling out
I miss that stupid ache...
Thanks a lot
I love singing along to Fiona's songs. She's so beautiful and Zack is awesome. My favourite scene in this video is that brief one where the tempo increases and they're in the car going nuts.
Its been years since I gave this a thumbs up and I just back wishing I could again.
Everytime i watch this video i am always completely enthralled with their "give&take" i just love it so much!
Artista mais que especial... puts que arranjos lindos que ela faz nas músicas .... Demaisssss
following the thread of her lyrics is like untangling a knot of hurt string
Fiona's songwriting is just genius ! One of my all time heroes... ❤️❤️❤️
This song is outstanding, and I love both of them. Fiona mouthing the words at the end really hits.
I shipped them for years.
Ya see!? Almost 1 million views. FIONA WE NEED YOU BACK MY DARLING!
has fiona ever explained how this song came about? the writing process i mean, was it one of those that just fell out of the sky? was it one that had been in the works for years? it's such a brilliant tune, the vocal melody and the musical riffage are so different but so perfect.
This is an extremely talented artist, in my opinion. Her way with words.....I fucking love it! Beyond the emmy, better than even.
how what...you gotta be kidding me thats the best thing ive ever seen...long live fiona
These are the heroes that were prophesized. Fiona and that one guy.
I resonate with this lady so much for the parallel of manic dysphoria and the creation of depression ❤️
To Fiona..thank you for blessing this world with your talent! ❤
this. this right here ladies and gentlemen, is the most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed
this is so brilliantly amazing, what a gift it is to be alive and experience this

It is about love cause I love you, Fiona Apple.
her lyricism is unmatched
This was the first video and song I ever heard from Fiona Apple. That was in 2005. I was in grade school 😅 Been a fan ever since.
The piano is always nice in your songs.
Good vocals and quality lyrics, too.
