BP's "sound" is based on two things: 1. They have two great rappers with different styles who can also sing. 2. The contrast between Jisoo's low, smoky, voice, and Rose's soaring, liquid vocals.
Rose' gets a lot of the attention, but her vocals wouldn't hit as hard if they weren't set up by Jisoo leading into them with her lower voice - it's the contrast that makes' rose's voice leap out at you. It's this dynamic that separates BP from other groups.
I think something many people don't realize is that whilst Jisoo always appears to have the least lines, she contributes a lot to the harmonies and 'hidden vocals' that enhances BLACKPINK's music.

Exactly. She has the only low voice that can harmonize with everyone or add that low smoky sound in the background. One of the only people who doesn't seem upset about how many lines Jisoo gets is...jisoo.

You're right, Jisoo does do many of the background stuff on songs. Like her whistle in the song Whistle.
In Yuki No Hana, she is singing in Japanese. In Clarity, she herself translated the verses to Korean, then proceeded to sing the English parts. Talk about talent, our dear Jisoo 🖤💗
Zedd (Clarity’s composer and producer) loved her version and Tweeted his love for it. He even greeted Jisoo on her birthday.
As for the documentary, you can split it into several parts. I’ve seen that being done by others who reacted and so far they were able to pull it off. Though other also put the whole on their Patreon accounts for seamless viewing.
Singing a popular Japanese song to a Japanese audience in Japanese must have been overwhelmingly satisfying for our precious Jisoo and surely made her very happy.

Yuki no hana is a japanese song which she performed in front of a japanese crowd even tho her first language isnt japanese! Her voice is soo beautiful she deserves so much more recognition for that. Her voice is what made her my bias❤️

Thank you for giving Jisoo praise and attention , usually people / reactors going through the group like : Lisa first , then Jennie , rose and last jisoo. And i have watch alot of reactor through years. Love BP all of them, they are all my biases but Jisoo is my ult bias and that will never change.

Jisoo OWNS Clarity!! Her version is THE version. She performed this during her trainee days. They would roll her out on stage to do it during concerts. She would DESTROY the room EVERY time. You have to see her bandmates jumping around cheering and mouthing her words backstage yelling her name. Jisoo is THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!

You are right,.. Jisoo doesn't get the attention she deserves. There is no one on earth like her (she actually has an older brother and sister who have her same eyes). She is completely unique in every way. No one sings like that. No one moves like that. No one has that personality that just comes out of nowhere. There are fan cams that isolate just her in stage performances and she is KILLING it in every one of them. Dancing on the side, singing harmonies, or just quietly watching something,... she is entirely captivating in every breath. There is just something magical about this person. In all the world,... only one Kim Jisoo.

if we’re being realistic her solo probably won’t be coming until maybe september or even later(just my own guess) and on twitter i saw a investor report saying “In the second half(2Q) of the year, BLACKPINK Album release and tours are expected” so at least that’s close but there’s no official news about her solo yet :(

Teddy Park, who usually produces all of Blackpink's music, will not be writing the song for Jisoo's solo. YG entrusted Lee Chan- hyuk with the writing of the song for Jisoo's solo. I don't know his work, but seems that YG might be aiming for a different sound for Jisoo's solo: a different sound than from Blackpink.

I think, after Yuki No Hana, my favourite Jisoo cover is of AKMU's "How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love". There's not a good recording; the one by "Off the page_" is probably best, but it was taken some distance away, and a little shaky...

These two songs in combination show most of her Lyric Mezzo Soprano range from Contralto to Mid Soprano, but she does not hit some notes that are actually higher in other BP songs.
Her vocal range is C3 to F6 and is technically a pure Modal register singer. She has advanced chest to head voice control and transitions, allowing for seemingly effortless mixed belting.
As usual, her vocal stability is outstanding. She is the one of the most stable live kpop singers around.

I’m late to your reaction but Lex, I loved it. You’ve always given her some credit but so many others don’t appreciate her. They learn Lisa, Jennie, and even Rose’ rather quickly, as well they should, but putting Jisoo off to the side irritates me. They are all queens and they are ALL talented and should be recognized as such. I loved that you teared up a little at Yuki No Hana, not cuz I wanted to see you cry but because that’s what hearing her sing it does to me every time. When a kpop group is born, roles are assigned to each member which then remain fixed or in any case it is very difficult to change them, and this also concerns the lines distribution in the songs. Here, I do not mean that the voices are trapped, but that perhaps it is not possible to feel their full potential because they are at the service of the group. So I think we will be able to fully appreciate Jisoo's voice, and the true power that I believe we don't really know, when it comes time for her solo debut! I can't wait for Jisoo's solo to come!
Yes, Jisoo’s voice is so unique too. Rosé is my bias for her angelic tone and voice with her high notes but I think Jisoo just replaced my bias wrecker because of her full and rich low tone. Just can’t wait for Jisoo’s solo!

"Husk" is probably at least one of the technical terms you're looking for. While Jisoo can and does have a deep voice, there's a husky quality to it.
