I'd sure like to see Joe's Comet do an 1/8 mile or even a 1/4 mile. I'd love to see what kind of ET he'd turn.. Thanks for the video and tell Joe, hello! for me..
Since it was originally built by comet, (yeah,, comet was its own company), almost became an Edsel, wasn't sold under the mercury name until 62, its a ford.
Just an FYI 1960 & 61 comets were just that not mercury not ford. they weer supposed to be an Edsel economy car, but Edsel went under the year before. they were badged by mercury in 1962.
It's a style of late 50s / 60s drag car.usually the front end is jacked up and on a straight axle, which helps plant the weight on the rear tires when it launches at the drag strip. Lots of them have fender well headers and make a racket. I love them.
My Grandads Comet, thanks for posting this man, it means alot 🖤
Awesome! He's a great one
Both this guy and his Comet are super cool. Wish he was coming to our nostalgia drags October 30th Orlando Speedworld
Thanks for sharing
That sounds amazing. Agree on both counts
Love it..the bumpers still show evidence of the torchwork where the shackle mounts are sittin' today
One of my favorite cars. Thank you for watching
I really love seeing old cars like this

Love the old school mentality....to bad its not ford powered but still a cool old gasser.....even it its Olds powered👍👍👍
Hot rodding classically mixes and matches based on availability. This thing is a huge mix and match, that's why I love it! Thanks for watching
WE all had a Cool Motorhead Like Joe, Growing up. Love these Guys. Make a Silk Purse out of a sow's ear.
I want to be like a Joe for the next generation

6 sheets of 3/4 plywood is almost $600.00 bucks. That’s like a cam, intake, and headers right there.
Sure can be!
The car and owner are just 2 cool 4 school
Why can't find a neighbor like him....
😎👌👍
Great neighbor for sure! You might have one, I try to meet as many neighbors as I can and the neighborhood.
Righteous! Complete with patina.
Yessir! Thanks for watching, John.
I have a 61 2 door with a 68 200 six , t5. Tranny , and headers .Daily driver 26mpg on the highway
That's a great combo, overdrive too 👍
Ice canister with the fuel coil is genius!
Indeed 😊
1960 or before technology, but it works.
Sweet car.
"13' wheels and taaaaaarrrrss" LOL
I'd sure like to see Joe's Comet do an 1/8 mile or even a 1/4 mile. I'd love to see what kind of ET he'd turn..
Thanks for the video and tell Joe, hello! for me..
I'll say hi, will see him soon. Once the carb is fixed it will move pretty well
Riggs garage is the 💣 !!!! Cool car. 🎉
haha thanks for watching!!
So COOL
Thanks for tuning in!
Got my testosterone flowin'!
My 62 Fairlane has very similar grille. Cool Comet !
With the front axle being moved so far forward, I believe it would fall into the Altered class, and not the Gas class.. Still a cool car
Likely, but at this point it's in the fun cruiser class 😉
great video, do you know how much it cost him to build the whole car?
I don't, I'm sure under 10k though. Mostly time and engineering/ building stuff / making parts from all these different vehicles work together
Oldschool koool😃👍🇦🇺
Bro so epic
Thanks for watching! Hoping to film your thunder chicken with a Wuhan war whistle soon 😂
Love the build, serious toe in situation tho.
I think that's been remedied
Since it was originally built by comet, (yeah,, comet was its own company), almost became an Edsel, wasn't sold under the mercury name until 62, its a ford.
The 1960-61 was just Comet in 1962 it fell under the Mercury Marquee. It was made to be Edse'sl economy car
Cool car. KC area?
Yessir, KC
Just an FYI 1960 & 61 comets were just that not mercury not ford. they weer supposed to be an Edsel economy car, but Edsel went under the year before. they were badged by mercury in 1962.
Sano!
How the drive at 60 mph on hwy
Pretty good!
Great
I could google. But I’d rather as here. What is a Gasser. What makes a gasser

Back in the day. I had my choice between a beautiful woman with big boobs or a gasser. I'm married, but I'm still in love with that car.
Why not both??
I have both LOL
LIKE THE CAR SHOULD HAVE A FORD ENGINE
Would have much rather heard it running down the road than that dreadful "music"!
Thanks for the feedback!
Another Chevy dude using ford vehicles 🤔
Welcome to Hot rodding for the last 70 years
Beautiful car rooted , what a shame
He ruined it by getting it back on the road and improving it?
🙄 Nobody cares what you think....🤣
Should have kept the 6 cyl , same power as the chevy motor you used . Alot less work .
He built it how he wanted, that's what he should have done. Thanks for watching
Going to go to a Ford 463 with C4
RAT----GASSER
Exactly
