Just come across your channel... loving the content... If you answer questions from this far back, do you guys ever run a 4 bar set up on the front with a panhard bar? Or is there some plain reason the leaf springs are the only way to go?
Love the video especially when said old school on setting camber done a lot of straight axle bending and twisting lol you would be surprised at how many axles have been bent running over stumps. Brings back fond memories. Thanks Grumpy

LOL , I am laughing because I staggerd the front end on my first mustang on advice from an OLD SCHOOL racer..... Roll out my man.... It matters a bunch.... Its like getting the kick in a race. Also those itty bitty short fronts you are using is robbing the poor bastard of some roll out as well. The guy next to him has his clutch released and the car locked up leaving when this dude begins to launch. If you did a side by side you would be doing videos on how to setup a front end old school and and using large diameter fronts for more travel and roll out and staggered for more roll out... Love the videos man and YES , I am busting your balls....
What if your car is really high in the rear? Like my 33 Ford high boy? My car is not level. Should I adjust the caster 6 to 10 degrees the way it sits? Or jack up the front and make it level and then adjust the caster?
Hey Chris, does your Boogieman car run parallel leaf springs on an I beam axle? did you make your own spring perches for the axle, and any trouble welding to the axle? cast or forged? sorry all the questions, trying to get the front of my gasser lighter!
I do run parallel leafs. And the axle is 1959 chevy truck axle. I cut and narrowed it 7.5 inches and welded back. The perch are the factory ones. And all the axles are forged. They weld just fine and strong. Hope this helps you...

@@marcchaffee7751 OK, so you think they look cool, that's fine. Was wondering if there's any benefit to using one as apposed to standard type suspension. I thought I asked that in my original question.
@@Anarchy-Is-Liberty well , some guys say they are much stronger when coming down off a wheelie , they also seem to have less body roll in hard turns . I find its much easier to obtain a radical castor angle , beyond 7 degrees positive , with simple wedges . But I and many people still think coolness wins overall . lol .
Hey Chris! I’m considering building my first gasser with the intent of my brother and I competing in drag week type drive and race events. I have a 51 Willy’s station wagon shell that I’m considering. It’s a 104” wheel base which I beleive is the same as a 41 Willy’s coupe. Because it’s just a shell anyhow do you think this would be a good option to start with to save time? And if so should I incorporate the shell as part of the chassis vs a seperate body bolted to the frame with traditional rubber body mounts? Thanks for your help! Love the channel!
This Comet has a dropped tube axle, straight axle is straight with no drop. OEM forged axles are beam axles. Why does so many people call a dual leaf spring front axle a straight axle?

I think the front 4 link works good. For me it's just a looks thing. I like the way springs look.

You can build stager into a strut or a arm car but if you try to do it to a straight axle car you are looking for trouble. thanks
I know a few people who are doing it. And making it work for them on the dragstrip.
@@boogietech I think they do it on top fuel rails with straight axles but i would rather have it square and laid back

I wish you would have showed rolling the straight axle back to get the 10 degrees of caster.

Does it make any difference if the shackle is toward the front of the car , or should it be on the rear of the spring?
