He certainly was a devastatingly handsome young man.

He was the rock behind the throne. You have to be a really strong man to give up your own successful life and career to be your wife's shadow and to not have any real power of your own.

They knew each other so well, they must have been finishing each other's sentence, knowing what the other would say.

He gave a life of service. Yes, he sometimes said things that he probably shouldn't have but when you think of the DoE awards and all his Navy work, you cannot help but admire him.

Strongly agree. Action speaks louder than words. Prince Philip was great husband and consort to Queen. He was a hunk too. I will miss him. Tough act to follow.

Prince Philip, Was so interesting to me, & Reading & learning about Phillips childhood & all the heartbreaking bad things that happened to Philip was to much for a young boy to bare 💔 But Philip found a way to fight through the pain & hurt. All the bad things that could happen & usually destroy a person & damages them for life, Prince Phillip manage to over come & survived... came out stronger & turned in to A real loyal amazing Man, Great husband, & father. Who was loyal to his country. Philip deserved the title King💯🤴🏼 After 20 years of dedication & loyalty to the queen & the country Prince Philip should have been crowned King... But Philip wasn’t & still stood by his queens side for 60+ years♥️

Out of all the children Edward turned out to be the one who gave the Queen no problems. His wife is also no drama. They say Sophie is a favorite of the Queen. Maybe, Edward may turn out to be the one the Queen may come to depend on. Whatever lies ahead I hope the Queen finds peace of mind and comfort. She has lost the 3 people that were so important to her. Her mum, sister and now her husband. God bless the Queen.

The Queen & Prince Philip's lives of service should remind everyone of the huge, tangible power for peace and stability the British monarchy is for everyone in Britain, the commonwealth and for the world. If there are many reasons England, Wales, Scotland, Canada and Australia, have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy is an important one. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered various civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a stable constitutional monarchy that is above politics, which helps keep the peace.
The Queen & Prince Philip had their failings as parents. Prince Philip could be tactless. Whatever mistakes he and his family have made, let us be grateful for the service he gave, and the difference the monarchy makes for the better, in everybody's lives.

Which version? The one where they met at a wedding? Or the one where George VI and his family were touring a royal warship and a 13 year old Princess Elizabeth was manoeuvered by Lord mountbatten into meeting his choice for her future consort?
