I love how The Crown ended with the two of them as the last characters on screen. Elizabeth had lost some of her good friends, her sister, her mother, her father, etc. and at the end Philip was still there with her.
I really wondered how The Crown would end since it was public that it would end in 2005. Would it have an open ending? Or just the text to be continued? This was the perfect symbolic ending, with the Queen taking a long walk towards the door. The long walk symbolizes her long reign after 2005 and that the door was heaven. Also with Charles and Camilla's wedding, I loved that they left it at there because it started with the Queen getting married and crowned. @@daee365
@@leafuller3153 That's all Penny ever was though, a friend, similar to what he had with Mike Parker and what Elizabeth had with Porchey. Philip was still by Elizabeth's side but his friendship with Penny gave him more confidence as a man and that's something Elizabeth could never give him.
I think the last Phillip was my favorite, the actor brought some much needed light heartedness to the show. He was a delight! He reminded me of a sweet old and wise grandpa.
Almost 80 years actually. They were married 74 and together years prior (dating period & then engaged) and actually Elizabeth had decided at 14 ! when she met him that he was the one she wanted and she never changed her mind. And she set out to get him and did.
I knew when Phillip passed away she wasn't long behind. I know they had their issues and really couldn't separate but he was there through everything and loved her until the end ❤
She wouldn't have lasted that long after his death if she had not felt she was obliged to make it through the Jubilee celebrations. She took her obligations and duties seriously and didn't want to disappoint all the people who had been working so hard to make the Jubilee a success. If those plans had not been in place I think she would have followed him in a matter of a few weeks
Elizabeth and Phillip being married for 70 years is a true testament to how marriage can stand the test of time they loved each other so dearly and phillp was always her strength and stay throughout her reign as queen of england Wales scotland north ireland and the commenwealth nation's
74 years married and then their dating and engagement. All together they were together almost 80 years. AND Elizabeth met him at 14 and decided then that she was going to marry him and then when she was ready and age appropriate- she went after him! She loved him for the majority of her life and was with him the majority of her life minus her childhood. That’s it. That’s a long time and imagine being with someone that long and then they’re gone. Forever.
Okay Claire and Matt were sizzling, but ngl Tobias and Olivia were the *chef's kiss* GOAT. I think they portrayed the more stable, and the marginally normal married couple Elizabeth and Philip were in those days.
I love how they point out the quirky personal touches each had ij their funeral at the end. Also love him making funny races at her during their wedding vows!
"I Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, take the Phillip, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for porer, in sickness and in health."
Elizabeth and Philip first met when she was 13 and he was 18. The meeting was arranged by his uncle, Lord Mountbatten. It’s probably good that they didn’t portray this initial meeting in the show because it could have come off as creepy.
Actually they met a few years earlier than that. They met in 1934 to a wedding of one of their relatives. Phillips cousin and Elizabeths cousin or aunt. But yes. When Elizabeth was 13 she did fall in love with the young and handsome naval cadet
I'm reading several autobiographies of Prince Philip and he didn't hesitate in reality to kneel before his queen as portrayed in The Crown. He happily knelt in front to swear allegiance to her. Some people will say he did, but I have not got that impression and I guess we will never know now. RIP Your Majesty, Your Royal Highness ❤
He cheated on her throughout their marriage no one that really loves you cheats on you. That’s the ultimate betrayal and shows how little they think of you. Philip was there for the perks always 😂😂😂
England only country with a queen and king. Christ is the king the only king on earylth and in heaven. I like the first actress of her during her young life.
We really need more content about british genocidal queen's romantic relationships. After all, there's nothing else about her that's interesting. Like the genocides she signed her name under or the building of concentration camps in Malaya after WWII. But look how cute though 😍
If it wasn’t for British people conquering the world you and your fellow losers would still be living in caves. Britain brought stability and civilization everywhere they went. Get over yourself.

If I may add one detail, Phillip leaving the church first since he died first, followed by Queen not long after.

Except he wasn’t with her at the end. That was the point of the scene.
He also sort of let her down with his young female friend, at the end ! The Queen was amazing how she let him have what he needed.

The show was perfectly cast, all three Elizabeths and Philips had perfect chemistry.
Yes Inbred chemistry- Thats why kids look like freaks- nasty mofos

Queen Elizabeth not only died of old age, but she died from a heartbreak loosing the man that she loved for more than 70 years.
74 years, they had been married for 5 years before she became Queen.

That is the most truest statement ever my aunt die 2 years later after her beloved sweetheart husband died although she never admitted it she was sad
God I got so emotional when he said that they’re a dying breed and that he and her are the last of their kind

the last words of Prince Philip are so true
It takes a strong man to stand by a remarkable woman even if it's from the shadows
Literally the best castings❤
Great show, great scripts, great actors. I could watch again and again.
I did indeed forget that they were each portrayed by 3 different actors. Well done
last one hits so much🥲🕊️🕊️

Ah Seasons 1 & 2, back when The Crown was about Elizabeth and Philip and didn’t become the Diana and Charles show.
This is so beautiful not everyone get this kind of love Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip was very lucky to have each other ❤❤
Incredible ending 💞
Matt and Tobias were the best playing the duke
Agreed. Wasnt a fan of the last actor.
I thought all 3 were wonderful.
The last secne of The Crown was amazing! 😢 I cried and i'm not a fan of monarchy neither english.
It is the high time to PRAISE The Crown Cast&Team❤🎉😊🤗🤩😍

Matt Smith, masterly body language in this role. Quite effective.

Just started this. So good. Enthralling for sure. I'm just fascinated with the royal family.
I can't stand the guys face who plays Phillip, which actually means he did a damn good job.
Which Phillip? 3 actors played him.

I hate the "kneeling" argument for gosh sakes Phillip wasn't so daft.
