Queen Elizabeth II reflects on her legacy and lineage as Diana dazzles the public in the final weeks of her life and the monarchy faces a reckoning.
I love how The Crown ended with the two of them as the last characters on screen. Elizabeth had lost some of her good friends, her sister, her mother, her father, etc. and at the end Philip was still there with her.
If I may add one detail, Phillip leaving the church first since he died first, followed by Queen not long after.
I really wondered how The Crown would end since it was public that it would end in 2005. Would it have an open ending? Or just the text to be continued? This was the perfect symbolic ending, with the Queen taking a long walk towards the door. The long walk symbolizes her long reign after 2005 and that the door was heaven. Also with Charles and Camilla's wedding, I loved that they left it at there because it started with the Queen getting married and crowned. @@daee365
Except he wasn’t with her at the end. That was the point of the scene.
He also sort of let her down with his young female friend, at the end ! The Queen was amazing how she let him have what he needed.
@@leafuller3153 That's all Penny ever was though, a friend, similar to what he had with Mike Parker and what Elizabeth had with Porchey. Philip was still by Elizabeth's side but his friendship with Penny gave him more confidence as a man and that's something Elizabeth could never give him.
The show was perfectly cast, all three Elizabeths and Philips had perfect chemistry.
Claire and Matt's chemistry were everything to me 😭❤️
I think the last Phillip was my favorite, the actor brought some much needed light heartedness to the show. He was a delight! He reminded me of a sweet old and wise grandpa.
Queen Elizabeth not only died of old age, but she died from a heartbreak loosing the man that she loved for more than 70 years.

Almost 80 years actually. They were married 74 and together years prior (dating period & then engaged) and actually Elizabeth had decided at 14 ! when she met him that he was the one she wanted and she never changed her mind. And she set out to get him and did.
That is the most truest statement ever my aunt die 2 years later after her beloved sweetheart husband died although she never admitted it she was sad
God I got so emotional when he said that they’re a dying breed and that he and her are the last of their kind
I knew when Phillip passed away she wasn't long behind. I know they had their issues and really couldn't separate but he was there through everything and loved her until the end ❤

She wouldn't have lasted that long after his death if she had not felt she was obliged to make it through the Jubilee celebrations. She took her obligations and duties seriously and didn't want to disappoint all the people who had been working so hard to make the Jubilee a success. If those plans had not been in place I think she would have followed him in a matter of a few weeks
Elizabeth and Phillip being married for 70 years is a true testament to how marriage can stand the test of time they loved each other so dearly and phillp was always her strength and stay throughout her reign as queen of england Wales scotland north ireland and the commenwealth nation's
74 years married and then their dating and engagement. All together they were together almost 80 years. AND Elizabeth met him at 14 and decided then that she was going to marry him and then when she was ready and age appropriate- she went after him!
She loved him for the majority of her life and was with him the majority of her life minus her childhood. That’s it. That’s a long time and imagine being with someone that long and then they’re gone. Forever.

Okay Claire and Matt were sizzling, but ngl Tobias and Olivia were the *chef's kiss* GOAT. I think they portrayed the more stable, and the marginally normal married couple Elizabeth and Philip were in those days.

I love how they point out the quirky personal touches each had ij their funeral at the end. Also love him making funny races at her during their wedding vows!

Elizabeth and Philip first met when she was 13 and he was 18. The meeting was arranged by his uncle, Lord Mountbatten. It’s probably good that they didn’t portray this initial meeting in the show because it could have come off as creepy.
Actually they met a few years earlier than that. They met in 1934 to a wedding of one of their relatives. Phillips cousin and Elizabeths cousin or aunt. But yes. When Elizabeth was 13 she did fall in love with the young and handsome naval cadet

I'm reading several autobiographies of Prince Philip and he didn't hesitate in reality to kneel before his queen as portrayed in The Crown. He happily knelt in front to swear allegiance to her. Some people will say he did, but I have not got that impression and I guess we will never know now. RIP Your Majesty, Your Royal Highness ❤
