- There are hundred of types of digital cameras out there. However these instructions are almost universal on how the file transfer process is done. In this video we show you how to transfer your files from your digital camera to your PC. Camera used in this video is a Panasonic Lumix G7 via USB.

One tip you could give to viewers is that if that if nothing shows up on "My Computer", make sure you check your USB connection settings on your camera, and select PC.. That helped me.

Awesome! Thank you! The setup I was using a webcam with a software called OBS (Open Broadcast Software), this allowed me to screen record with a frame of myself.

Plugged in the Lumix G7 with the very same USB lead you have, but my PC doesn't recognise it. It shows up in Other Devices in the Device Manager and I'm pretty sure it needs an updated driver. After installing one and having the new driver (bin file), it can't locate it. Can you help?

My digital camera uses an SD card to store the Videos I'm recording. If we want to transfer the video from the camera onto my labtop, can I just connect my camera to the labtop using the USB cable OR is the only way to tranfer files will be to take out my SD card and put it into the SD reader that's attached to my labtop??

I was a bit confused coz the camera comes with two cables--av out and USB--but the ports it has are for av out and HDMI. And everyone on the internet kept saying that to transfer photos, you gotta connect your camera to the laptop with a USB cable. Well, they mean av out...

Hey, thanks for the video! Would you be able to help with this problem? When I view the photos on my computer from my camera, the pictures are darker. The settings that I set on the camera to lighten the photo do not transfer to the computer. Do you know how I can fix that?

Hello There, how would I go about in an easy way to first save my Raw Images to my 3 x External Hardrives? Then make a folder; then go into Classic Lightroom? For some reason, I always muck this up! I thank you for your time in advance...
Do you know how your external drives are setup? Do they copy the data to each one?
3 separate/independent external hard drives. My Lightroom always clears my cards, so I like to save them first , then take them into Lightroom, but always struggle and muck things up. So, I was hoping that you could show the correct procedure...

How do you do the opposite of this and upload photos from your computer on the digital camera?
Nice video I have had HDC panasonic shooting format of AVCHD. 2008. What cain of os windows I need to export video to my pc?
That is a fairly older Codec, you should be able to use any version of Windows 7 and up.
When I upload or pull videos directly from my Canon Vixia HF W10 and move to Adobe Premiere Pro it only shows the video, no audio file. Can someone help? All tuts show to select V1 and A1 before dropping but it won't let me select A1 since it's not pulling the audio. Yet it plays the audio everywhere else like media player and on thr camera? No mic.
I would check to see if Premiere has any updates it needs. I also found this on an Adobe forum.
"Most likely your camcorder is saving your video with AC3 (Dolby Digital) audio, which is no longer supported by Premiere Elements. AC3 support is provided in Windows 10, so you would be able to edit this video on a Windows 10 machine. However, Windows 7 does not provide this support in the operating system.Can you set your camcorder to record in PCM audio?"

is it possible to record video on computer while shooting?
Certain cameras can save to external drives, you will need to do some research for the camera. Another option may be a capture card.

With the factory usb cable and yes my camera is ready but nothing pops up how do i fix it i have a gaming pc so not sure if thats a problem??

The cable you are using could be charge only. Do you have another cable to try?

Most likely the cord you're using only has charging capabilities.
You'll need to be sure you're using a cord with Charging and Data Transfer capabilities.
Typically, this should be the cord that came with your phone or you can also find one by looking up the manufacturer of your phone.
Also, be sure your phone isn’t asking you to enter the phone password when you plug it in!

Do you have a different USB cable? That current one could be power(charge) only.
I have a Panasonic G7 like yu have. When I plug it into the USB on my computer, I can hear the sound that it is connecting, but it doesn't show up under "This PC" like I would expect it to. Any suggestions to correct this? The card reader on my computer will read the SD card if I take it out of the camera and insert it into the computer, but I would like to do it with the cable. Thank you.
On the camera you may need to select USB mode when plugged in. Make note that transferring through the USB from camera is slower then directly from the memory card.

Do the files show up when it is plugged in? Also when you do plug in the camera, on the screen you will need to tap the computer option.

Very good vid 👍🏼i never had a problem with this until recently. Now when i open my dcim the vids aren't there. The videos are on The card because im able to play them in Windows media player but for some reason its showing in the folder. Have you ever encountered this? Thx

But sir when i tried this the double arrows are showing on thumbnail of photo and also not opening and sharing . And all photos are converted mb to gb .now how can i solve this
Each photo is has a different MB size, when you select all of them or multiples, it calculates the size which could be GB.

Be sure the phone isn't asking you for your password! If you enter that, or if you don't have a password and it's still not showing up at all, most likely the cord you're using only has charging capabilities.

Why do my movies not show up?
They should, they could be in a different location.
It's only coming up with photos not my videos there's no diffrent folder for it eather just the one that you said in your video. Any suggestions?
Double check your device settings and verify the videos save to the same location.
Hey man so like I made a copy of like 55gb worth of videos of our childhood for my mom and many of the videos have that green check mark on it but most of them have a sync (double arrows making a circle) saying sync pending. And when I get to the folder on the top left a green bar keeps flashing to the right. Like the >this pc>desktop>Folder. How long does it take for the sync pending for the videos. And will it delete if it keeps going?
It depends on the size/amount of the videos and the bandwidth.

What system do you use to compress large files?I'm using handbrake to transfer files from my canon g7x to my computer,but I keep getting and error unknown notification Everytime I try to compress.
I haven't used that program so I'll have to look into it a little more but first maybe check if the download for that program is for your Operating System. (x86 and x64)
Also your operating system has a built-in compression software but I would probably go with something like 7-Zip, Archiver or WinRAR, these will typically compress more efficiently than your operating system's built-in compression software.

I lost the original usb for my nikon b500 and I got a replacement online. while I was trying to import my files in the cp it was having issue finding pic/videos ...
so it's not working is it because it's not the original usb ?
Was the replacement USB from the Nikon or a generic USB cable?

Got all that. How do you delete from camera after import while still hooked up? Window 10 setting must have changed because I used to be able to delete.
It should automatically provide that option.
Before selecting import there is a checkbox asking if you want to delete all photos after import.

once you transfer it can you delete the videos\photoes to save storage on ur camera
Once the files have been transferred. You can delete them as it has made a copy.

I have a question i uploaded my photos from my DIGITAL camera chip to my laptop computer. But i had 721 photos its only showing 45 of them .how do i get the rest of them imported ?

I opened all my hard drives, then turned on my camera, sure enough it showed along with the others. I could not do anything with it, but showed that the computer and camera were llinked.
Is the memory card protected?
Whenever I imported images from a camera to my computer, I would have the option to "DELETE IMAGES FROM CAMERA AFTER IMPORTING" them onto my computer. Now it no longer gives me that option. What happened? Where did it go? How do I get it back?

It shows an error in Windows Explorer as if the sd card was locked, but it's not. Rebooting doesn't help.

Do you have the drivers installed? The G7 that I also use has no issues using this USB cable.

@@HelpCloud Nikon Coolpix b600 but not to worry. I found a solution. Placing the SD card in the computer worked just fine.
12.5 MBps is way too slow.. Can't we transfer files faster with a USB 3.0 port??
You can, however if the hardware(camera) can't xfer at higher speeds it doesn't matter.

Charging with the cable varies per camera. What camera do you own?
