As a lifelong Yakuza fan whose been following KIryu's journey throughout the years.... This made me tear up pretty damn hard. The way he broke down, seeing a character as stoic as him showing such warmth was great! Lost everything & everyone he ever cared for, yet he never let his kind spirit die. Yumi's ring on the altar was a great final touch, aswell! Such is the love of a man who was never loved.. Thanks SEGA, Thanks Nagoshi san and all the people who ever worked on these games. So Long! :)
That cutscenes with the orphans destroyed Kiryu emotionally. Its just heartbreaking seeing Kiryu look so proud at Haruto's drawing and yet he cant praise or hug Haruto to show his appreciation. It shows how much he misses them.😢
I noticed that both Shishido and Nishitani 3 have a karma of what's coming to them in each cutscene: -First, during the port ambush Shishido bludgeoned a Daidoji agent who mocked Kiryu (because of his status as the legendary yakuza) to death and the next scene shows after the fight the body of the dead agent who mocked Kiryu is put into the trunk of the car. A few days later after the final fight against Shishido and the Daidoji agents arrived at the Omi Alliance HQ, Yoshimura subdued Shishido for revenge killing a Daidoji agent and decided to force Shishido to work for the Daidoji Faction along with Nishitani 3 and putting Shishido in the trunk of the car the same way that dead agents was put in. -Second, Kiryu decided to escape from the castle, and that's when Nishitani 3 came by with his bike to chase Kiryu and intentionally ran over a nearby bystander after that the fight began. In the mid-finale after Nishitani 3 stabbed Watase and before he can do that, a Limousine driven by Hanawa and Akame in the passenger seat swiftly runs Nishitani III over the same way that he intentionally ran over a random bystander. Unlike Kuze after he got run over by Tachibana and still as strong as ever. Nishitani 3 however is not so lucky and gets knocked unconscious after he gets run over by a Limousine driven by Hanawa and Akame.
Holy shit this game really got me all emotional, the last boss fight with Shishido was one of the best ones so far. That ending where Kiryu was watching the camera watching the kids, especially Haruto's drawing made me bawl a whole tsunami till the end. I can't stop crying, Kiryu really deserved that ending. What an amazing fucking game
imo it still doesn't beat judgment or lost judgment. but it's definitely a good game. loved playing it. loved the scene where hanawa refuses to shoot kiryu
Judgement & Yakuza might be similar in many regards but they're still very different. Know this however, without Yakuza? Judgement would've never existed!@@revv0o
Talk about one hell of an ending. Seeing the kids all grown up now, Kiryu's total breakdown, HANAWA IS MORINAGA FROM YAKUZA 5??? And then Kiryu finally getting to tick one of his dreams off by going to Hawaii.
This might just be me but fo correct me if I'm wrong or remembering wrong. Morinaga died in the mountains or at least thatd what aizawa said. In lost judgement, didn't akutsu said that soma did a job of disposing a body in the mountains? And soma was a agent. What im trying to say is that could it possibly be that the body soma was responsible of disposing of could be morinaga? I know the timeline doesn't seem to match up or i think it doesn't. But this sounds plausible sorta. Do correct me if it is wrong
People always have to _try_ with Kiryu, don't they? Despite his persistent and totally unblemished reputation as an utterly unstoppable superhuman who has shrugged off thousands of rounds like they were capgun pellets. It's gotta be his equally venerable reputation as a man who _never_ kills, regardless of circumstances... despite, y'know, brutalising hundreds of people to such an extent that they'd definitely need hospitalisation, not to mention countless stabbings (he's particularly fond of knives in the gut) and plenty of shootings (must've been using capgun pellets and felling the targets with the sheer intimidation factor). Everyone who comes across him for the first time must idiotically conclude that he's a total softie because of that. (Yeah I know the throngs of clueless enemies are mostly there for the gameplay but it's hilarious to think about in a semi-realistic sense, like many other aspects of this phenomenal and lovably ludicrous series 😂)
It's sad, but I really do hope "Infinite Wealth" is the definitive conclusions to Kiryu's ridiculously epic saga. Of course I love him like I would a close friend, and Kuroda portrays him so flawlessly and with such emotional depth, but "The Song of Life" was supposed to be his swansong - and it was a fantastic farewell for him - then he returned for "Like a Dragon" which I figured would just be a one-off cameo, but RGG just couldn't let go of him and not only gave him this additional solo outing (and it's a bloody great game, don't get me wrong) but also made him the co-protagonist of "Infinite Wealth" - in fact his role was probably more substantial than Ichiban's! I really hope they commit to the finality of his departure now, and while continuing the RPG mechanics of Ichiban's saga, also continuing the real-time brawler gameplay with a new protagonist, or even a sorely underutilised character like Daigo - and ideally, in a whole new city, perhaps alongside Hawaii... although I'd love to return to Tsukimono, Kineicho or Nagasugai again. Especially Tsukimono, a grim and brooding winter atmosphere would be perfect for a Yakuza game. More Kiryu cameos and minigame appearances is fine, but let the man savour his retirement! 😂
For sure. I really wasn't expecting much from a "gaiden" game but this is essentially a fully-fledged Yakuza title, albeit with certain aspects - e.g. the substories - receiving less focus. Plus I can't deny that playing as Kiryu never gets old, even though I'd love a new protagonist (I really want Daigo to have his own game, the guy never gets the chance to _DO_ anything!) and for Kiryu to finally renounce the pseudo-Yakuza lifestyle once and for all and enjoy a well-earned retirement in Onomichi 😁
Thank you for this video, the gameplay in-between the story always feels like a chore, so watching it like this is pretty great. Can't wait for Infinite Wealth!
If and when kiyru dies wether its in infinite wealth or a later game it would be fitting for him to go out in a similar way to his oath brother nishiki sacrificing himself in a badass way for the greater good
KIRYU HONESTLY SHOULD HAVE JUST TAKEN CHARGE OF THE WHOLE YAKUZA THEN HE WOULD NOT BE WORRIED ABOUT ANYTHING AND THOSE KIDS IN THE ORPHANAGES HE COULD HAVE OPENED WAY MORE
Not true. They would just...target the orphanage/the kids 24/7 instead of just finding out about it. He wouldnt be with the kids and be more detached to them. The kids would also be on the run and wouldnt grow up to be the same. More like Yakuza folks, and it would leave them fucked for JP life like it did to them in this story.
Wrong. Still believe in the Shinto Sect of Buddhism since he still prays to it when he eats. BUT he places the ring at theater of that church because Yumi wanted to be married in Hawaii

Best LaD story. Best LaD main antagonist.

That's why I specifically said LaD. The Judgment series is a different beast, and is the gold standard for RGG Studio storytelling.

@@Otto45 your point is? i love both franchises but i like the je franchise's themes and stories more.
