Hot take: the ending was good and cathartic, even if it was a lot more muted and stoic compared to Gaiden We see Kiryu's character arc come full circle- he's been running away from his problems and fate since day one re the tojo clan. Him choosing to "erase his name" in y6 was an extension of that. Gaiden was showing how that was a shitty decision. Now he isn't running anymore, he took back his name, went back to haruka and is receiving treatment. The last moments in game being him saying his name is a metaphorical full stop to his story.

I hope Yakuza 9 separates playstyles for both characters. Have Ichiban stay turn based and have Kiryu be in real time. I'd love for another weak Kiryu that we have to retrain. They could even show him regaining body mass he lost during his fight with cancer(Y9 could start after he beats it). Hell, this new situation could mirror the events of Yakuza 1. No one goes after him because they assume the cancer would finish him off(like how they assumed he'd be killed in prison) and he'd come out a shadow of his former glory.

Thank you for uploading this and condensing it down to this length. I just can not bring myself to sit through 20+ more hours of actually having to play this game, made it as far as Chapter 8 and couldn't take it anymore.
I really wish they didn’t change the combat system. Had they kept the real time action system of previous games, I would’ve bought this along with Tekken 8.

Is clearly that Kiryu is going to live a lot more time(even getting cured from the cancer even with the coments that it was uncureable,because you dont get in radiotherapy if its uncureable and you can get cured if the thing goes well in 6 or 8 months,witch is one of the little things i didnt like much of the story,is how the cancer thing is weird and sometimes looks like the definitive end for Kiryu or is gonna come back after this,even stronger)thanks for the treatment,is not the first time in the series that they hit us with:"Hey,Kiryu can die!" But we all knew that is always ended in our Kiryu tanking all of the shit to the end They left it open for Kiryu to return for a simple that it can return in some point in the future and Kiryu is still a character that could bring more stories Like a: Kiryu VS Daidoji Faction story in a Gaiden 2(?) it actually has some RL merid tho. The yakuza were a big presence on hawaii in the 60s and 70s and stil have some ties there. So to get a out of japan one hawaaii was actually a good choice.
Not enough kiryu related story, use daigo majima and sajima like Cameo characters no news of orphanage kids, no nwes of akiyama, no Dante, hanai is lost fo many seasons, they use sayama and yuki for get attention only in trailer wtf why should i play it??

What happened to her nice hairstyle....bleh. Also, so what's the deal with Kiryu? This ending make no sense....so he sees them and than dies or something? Or they milking Kiryu out for another 5 games? We can argue back and fourth, but Yakuza 6 was clearly meant to be the final game for Kiryu. This is just garbage and what was the point of Gaiden exactly? Beating Gaiden I figured the lead up would possibly be him fighting the organization to get his name back and see the kids....instead they were just ignored basically the whole game with a buch of other random plot points. Only cool thing about this whole story was Kiryu going back to his old style during the later half of the game, and Ichiban telling the girl his feelings.
the second half of this game fell hilariously short with the whole plot of japan's waste management and bryce basically being evil jesus. The first half of the story was incredible and then the second was some of the worst in rgg history lmao
The waste management detail was nice bit of horror since this was what Aoki Ryo had in mind for the homeless and undesirable people is to make them work as slave labor handling nuclear waste in a prison island
