It makes quite a bit of sense, and we learn of it in a novel series dedicated to different groups finding access to the Webway. I will admit that I have always wondered how Lion would react to the Tyrannids. Especially as he basically grew up dealing with similar. Now we know... Nah, they're too granular. I just finished Devastation of Baal (great book!) and you'd have to make some pretty heavy edits to make it a cohesive story under 4h that was at all worth watching.

Vulkan was too nice. Angron was too predictable. The Kahn even low-key called Fulgrim a bitch, straight to his face. The Khan even said that while he respected the strategic brilliance of Horus, they would be no match in a duel.
@@kennethcook9406 I love how Angron was supposedly one of the best fighters out of all of his brothers, but pretty much NONE of his siblings feared him. It's like they all knew if push came to shove even if they couldn't outfight him they could just outsmart him. Russ and Guilliman outflanked him, Perturabo basically let him burn himself out, and Sangunius lured him into a false sense of victory to get to Angron's weak spot.

I think if Angron didn’t have the nails, that he’d be a different person entirely, probably more akin to Sanguinius, so yah he may have been able to beat the Lion. I do think out of all his fights though it does show that every primarch that fights him is on a timer, if they engage in a straight tooth and claw fight with Angron they’ll inevitably lose. Which is why they have to utilize his blind spots. The Lion did that by giving him an opening that caused him to recklessly impale himself & Sanguinius took advantage of his nails. I think if the Lion didn’t have the Emperor’s shield that fight would’ve been a bit different but I do think the Lion would have still won (albeit with more severe injuries).
It's symbolism. RG is a conqueror and has come back to conquer the lost parts of the Imperium. LJ has come back to defend the imperium nihilus hence the shield. His new book outlines this a lot that he wants to defend those that cannot defend themselves.

@@roboutegiiliman-prime9074 Tyranids don't really have souls, so they can't really be wholly destroyed like Daemons or other mortal creatures, they're beings that exist outside the warp. The Hive Mind is it's own gestalt conscious. What affects the Warp doesn't affect the Hive Mind in the same way, they're just animated biomass with biological programming, the Hive Mind can replicate that perfectly any time. This is different from Daemons, Humans or other beings who have a presence in the warp. They're more alien than anything in the galaxy.

It's great how writers are using the Imperium being shattered. It would be easy to let everyone know everything important, but this game of information gathering by different factions and parts of factions is a fun addition

Warhammer 40k lore is all over the place on youtube that it sometimes feel like im searching the records of the Dark Age. I just found out this week that the Lion was alive or more finally mobile and it's been a good year already lol. Keeps things entertaining and fun I guess .

If it is going after Primarchs I think it will start to target remains of the Primarch. Baal does have Sanguinius corpse but it tried and failed with Baal however the severed hand of Rogal Dorn is on the Phalanx, and I believe the skull of Ferrus Manus is on Medusa IV. Understanding their DNA is something I could see the Hivemind doing.
Unfortunately Primarch DNA is juicy but not really the important part. The most important part of a Primarch is the sheer amount of psychic juice in their souls. They are stronger than greater daemons.
I remember Cawl once hired a chapter of space marine who are experts in hunting tyranids. Under the lions' command, this chapter is amazing. Would definitely make a good story.

Are there any major battles where more than 1 legion strength force takes on Tyranids? If I remember correctly, every time more than one major force of SM come to battle, the tyranids get pushed back. I'm thinking of Baal and Macragge as the major engagements, and I know multiple chapters were present in both theaters, but when a second major force arrived they handled it pretty quickly.
It's a thing that kind of bugs me (pun intended). 'Nids are getting hyped up in 10e lore as the biggest bad, but even against all odds the Space Mary Sue's just tool them with a +1 plot armour save every time.
I mean. In Devastation of Baal, it took more than 29,000 space marines to defeat Leviathan. Blood Angels and successors would’ve lost if G-Man hadn’t arrived with the primaris marines. It takes a pretty enormous force of SM to defeat a hive fleet.

Hive Fleets can be broken but not fully destroyed (Behemoth & Kraken are still kicking) and more and more are encroaching into the Galaxy. I think one of two things is going to happen, Leviathan is going to take some major L’s and adapt to the Primarchs becoming more deadly than ever, things like the Norn Emissaries will become spearheads to the Fleet whilst the Swarmlord will learn and develop new tactics and counters. I suspect Hive Fleet Leviathan will become a huge threat, potentially being broken in full by both Primarchs in a battle for Terra itself. I think this will have major consequences and most likely will leave an opening for either a new foe to enter the fray (perhaps another Demon Primarch) or a new Fleet bigger and badder than Leviathan.
I really appreciate you posting and talking about the lore from the Rule Books. I buy a lot of the full audio books however I don't do anything with the games, whether it's tabletop or digital. So I miss out on all of the stuff that happens between the books.
I have to say it; I didn't like Heresy- era Lion that much, he seem'd uhm.. "arrogant and seen as to loyal" to my taste, but the returned Primarch El'Johnson is a BEAST of a character!
It intrigues me that if the 3 symbols that the Old King shows The Lion does represent the Astronomicon, The Blood Angels and Leman Russ, it's strange or just a coincidence that the Angels and Wolves are not followers of the Codex Astartes, penned by Roboute? What say you?
No, not yet. At least, there is no novel. The new codex supplement that came out earlier this month did contain some new lore though where it describes Lion's interactions with some of his sons and what he's been up to. The content from this video for example comes from a write-up in that codex book, essentially letting us know that yes, Lion is now aware of tyranids and has engaged with them. Generally speaking, their reunion has been cordial - Lion is a bit aloof and just spending time observing his sons, leading them in battle and getting their measure. He's also been visiting the other Unforgiven chapters too. He's been made aware of Cypher but hasn't said much about him and is allowing the hunt for him to go on. He favors Azrael; so much so that when Azrael offered to return his helmet, Lion told him that he may keep using it and that he would only take it back if he felt Azrael was unworthy of it. The DAs are generally in awe of him and consider him to be much more of 'a fey creature' than they imagined; the forest-like area permeating his living quarters freaks them out a bit but they don't say anything. They feel kind of freaked out by him tbh but that's not new, Lion freaked everyone out in 30k too. All in all though, it's been good; they are all checking each other out basically and getting used to each other.
And remember that the First Legion is full of weapons and technology from the Dark Age. And their ships are basically straight up DAoT-era. On top of the Emperor having entrusted them with technologies that would wipe out everyone else in the galaxy so humanity could re-colonize if the Great Crusade failed. This is the Primarch and Legion that the traitors in the Horus Heresy threw themselves at Terra to escape explicitly in the hope of using its defenses to maybe not be slaughtered. A Legion and Primarch originally created to conquer the galaxy by themselves with no support and _almost succeeded._ Probably would have succeeded, too, there was no indication they wouldn’t.
The King is the fisher king. The candelabra, the lance, and the chalice are all have something to do with the fisher kings wound and i really want to know about how the Old English Mythos will effect the Lions fate
I wondered if that was possibly their reason for going after them. If they ate Guilliman they would have a kind of Codex Astartes, and if they ate the Lion they would have the primarch who would have been Warmaster if not for Horus’s charisma. Both would give them an insight into how the Imperium fight.
Love the content, Sandman. I was big into the HH novels about 15 years ago...30k and the Primarch lore just did it for me in a way that the 41st millennium content didn't. Unfortunately I fizzled out round about The Outcast Dead (that and adult real life stuff)...but this newer content is scratching that itch once again. Great job getting me back into it, makes for great listening bud.
The most powerful primarch back with the most powerful united legion. The 1st was always above the rest. Almost a piece separate from the Big E’s overarching immediate plans but uniquely positioned as at a place of highest regard. The DA are also the most hard counter to Tyranids. The most balanced legion of them all. No “traits” just that they’re the 1st and don’t fuck with them lol.. they can out adapt just like the tau except DA have a solo killer in the Lion that can kill any general… also I suppose you can say Terminators are their main answer but unlike other legions, they’ll abandon this strategy if it’s not wise to be encumbered.. also my final thought is that the Lions aura of inspiration to his Legion is greatest even sanguinius. Sangy was visually inspiring but he was focused on his melee. The Lion works side by side like a knight of old and does the same fighting moves his sons use. All of this while feeling the presence of the Lion
Well, in one of the books, the lion went invisible and can set people on fire with a sword. I think the forest is just the tip of his psychic abilities. I think he has way more, but GW isn’t gonna put it in until for a long time.
I'm thinking even though yes the spear could represent Leman Russ I'm thinking it's going towards Konstantine VALDOR because Russ never wanted his spear , he threw it away constantly ! he only used it that one time against Horus! whereas Konstantine valdor still has his spear and he is the king in yellow and he has that whole big huge Army of WINGED BLOOD ANGELS , PSYCKERS, NULLS, BLANKS, AND CUSTODES... I think the emperor wants the lion to hook up with valdor and that should be very very spicy!

The Hive Mind is it's own gestalt conscious. What affects the Warp doesn't affect the Hive Mind in the same way, they're just animated biomass with biological programming, the Hive Mind can replicate that perfectly any time. This is different from Daemons, Humans or other beings who have a presence in the warp. They're more alien than anything in the galaxy.

If it is going after Primarchs I think it will start to target remains of the Primarch. Baal does have Sanguinius corpse but it tried and failed with Baal however the severed hand of Rogal Dorn is on the Phalanx, and I believe the skull of Ferrus Manus is on Medusa IV. Understanding their DNA is something I could see the Hivemind doing.

Unfortunately Primarch DNA is juicy but not really the important part.
The most important part of a Primarch is the sheer amount of psychic juice in their souls. They are stronger than greater daemons.

Are there any major battles where more than 1 legion strength force takes on Tyranids? If I remember correctly, every time more than one major force of SM come to battle, the tyranids get pushed back. I'm thinking of Baal and Macragge as the major engagements, and I know multiple chapters were present in both theaters, but when a second major force arrived they handled it pretty quickly.
It's a thing that kind of bugs me (pun intended). 'Nids are getting hyped up in 10e lore as the biggest bad, but even against all odds the Space Mary Sue's just tool them with a +1 plot armour save every time.

I mean. In Devastation of Baal, it took more than 29,000 space marines to defeat Leviathan. Blood Angels and successors would’ve lost if G-Man hadn’t arrived with the primaris marines. It takes a pretty enormous force of SM to defeat a hive fleet.

@@bennyb.1742too be fair, death is meaningless to the Tyranids. The Hive Mind cannot be destroyed by conventional means. Hive Fleets can be broken but not fully destroyed (Behemoth & Kraken are still kicking) and more and more are encroaching into the Galaxy.
I think one of two things is going to happen, Leviathan is going to take some major L’s and adapt to the Primarchs becoming more deadly than ever, things like the Norn Emissaries will become spearheads to the Fleet whilst the Swarmlord will learn and develop new tactics and counters. I suspect Hive Fleet Leviathan will become a huge threat, potentially being broken in full by both Primarchs in a battle for Terra itself. I think this will have major consequences and most likely will leave an opening for either a new foe to enter the fray (perhaps another Demon Primarch) or a new Fleet bigger and badder than Leviathan.

Is there a book that includes the Lion's reunion with his chapter in detail?
No, not yet. At least, there is no novel. The new codex supplement that came out earlier this month did contain some new lore though where it describes Lion's interactions with some of his sons and what he's been up to. The content from this video for example comes from a write-up in that codex book, essentially letting us know that yes, Lion is now aware of tyranids and has engaged with them. Generally speaking, their reunion has been cordial - Lion is a bit aloof and just spending time observing his sons, leading them in battle and getting their measure. He's also been visiting the other Unforgiven chapters too. He's been made aware of Cypher but hasn't said much about him and is allowing the hunt for him to go on. He favors Azrael; so much so that when Azrael offered to return his helmet, Lion told him that he may keep using it and that he would only take it back if he felt Azrael was unworthy of it. The DAs are generally in awe of him and consider him to be much more of 'a fey creature' than they imagined; the forest-like area permeating his living quarters freaks them out a bit but they don't say anything. They feel kind of freaked out by him tbh but that's not new, Lion freaked everyone out in 30k too. All in all though, it's been good; they are all checking each other out basically and getting used to each other.
I need to see a novel with the chapters first reactions and the discussion they would have

And remember that the First Legion is full of weapons and technology from the Dark Age. And their ships are basically straight up DAoT-era. On top of the Emperor having entrusted them with technologies that would wipe out everyone else in the galaxy so humanity could re-colonize if the Great Crusade failed. This is the Primarch and Legion that the traitors in the Horus Heresy threw themselves at Terra to escape explicitly in the hope of using its defenses to maybe not be slaughtered. A Legion and Primarch originally created to conquer the galaxy by themselves with no support and _almost succeeded._ Probably would have succeeded, too, there was no indication they wouldn’t.

I wondered if that was possibly their reason for going after them. If they ate Guilliman they would have a kind of Codex Astartes, and if they ate the Lion they would have the primarch who would have been Warmaster if not for Horus’s charisma. Both would give them an insight into how the Imperium fight.

Unfortunately I fizzled out round about The Outcast Dead (that and adult real life stuff)...but this newer content is scratching that itch once again. The most powerful primarch back with the most powerful united legion. The 1st was always above the rest. Almost a piece separate from the Big E’s overarching immediate plans but uniquely positioned as at a place of highest regard. The DA are also the most hard counter to Tyranids. The most balanced legion of them all. No “traits” just that they’re the 1st and don’t fuck with them lol.. they can out adapt just like the tau except DA have a solo killer in the Lion that can kill any general… also I suppose you can say Terminators are their main answer but unlike other legions, they’ll abandon this strategy if it’s not wise to be encumbered.. also my final thought is that the Lions aura of inspiration to his Legion is greatest even sanguinius. Sangy was visually inspiring but he was focused on his melee. The Lion works side by side like a knight of old and does the same fighting moves his sons use. All of this while feeling the presence of the Lion

Well, in one of the books, the lion went invisible and can set people on fire with a sword. I think the forest is just the tip of his psychic abilities. I think he has way more, but GW isn’t gonna put it in until for a long time.

I'm thinking even though yes the spear could represent Leman Russ I'm thinking it's going towards Konstantine VALDOR because Russ never wanted his spear , he threw it away constantly ! he only used it that one time against Horus! whereas Konstantine valdor still has his spear and he is the king in yellow and he has that whole big huge Army of WINGED BLOOD ANGELS , PSYCKERS, NULLS, BLANKS, AND CUSTODES... I think the emperor wants the lion to hook up with valdor and that should be very very spicy!
