    Nice vid dude! Like what you said about pushing through...so many folks have issues with that. Gotta push always to get better. Heck I crashed my F-16 today pushing it doing formation high alpha with a buddy...I had help he he...we got close...REAL close. It will make for an interesting episode I guess! That wasn't a crash landing by the way...you were just to lazy to put the gear down first...it happens!😁 Good stuff!

      Haha, thanks dude! Really all that limits us in flight is our skill and that's always improved by pushing harder. Just like working out, you build those connections in your brain to fly better once you keep trying and stop giving up at the first sign of distress.

      Hangar 18 Hobbies is getting me a Viper 70 on demo credit. I'll be setting it up this way again. i bought this jet and loved it.... and then bought the same model but with the FMS badge (fms builds it for eflite) and not only its EXACTLY the same airplane (different colors) i also saved over$300 dollars because it doesnt come with rx. I still fly both and love them. the fms is easier to see in the air

      You must live near China for the FMS version to be less expensive. Shipping to the US is at least $150 which makes the jet cost about $800ish here.

    That's rad! I have the smaller blue viper, I'll give this a shot next time, but I dunno if it has enough thrust. Do you have the make the transition to high alpha so high? Can you make the transition at a constant altitude? Do you have AS3X active in the plane? I saw it do the little start-up dance. Subbed!

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could make the transition at a lower altitude. I prefer doing it higher up to have enough time to throttle up and get out of an asymmetric stall. It doesn't take much to get this jet to spiral to the ground. The 70's stall characteristics are even more severe. The setup I'm flying on is found via th-cam.com/video/uUOJhLrSibw/w-d-xo.html
      AS3X is active but it's throttle-based. The vid covers it. Thanks for checking out the channel!

    As I mentioned in your trailer, what UP pitch limit are you setting in Forward Programming to achieve that AoA. I can see that you are probably not using heading hold but I suspect if you did you would get a more stable direction because the rudder would also be inputting. It is a good demo of how Spektrum's technology can help one get extreme flight out of an aircraft. After all the full scale modern jet can't do that without computers assisting the pilot and ensuring max AoA for speed/thrust is not exceeded. Its a shame how there is a segment of our hobby who decry Spektrum's contribution.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No limit - I'm flying manual with AS3X gains tuned based on throttle input. The setup guide will go over everything I use: th-cam.com/video/uUOJhLrSibw/w-d-xo.html
      Very little of this is related to Spektrum tech - it's all aerodynamic understanding and enough T/W ratio to fly on the duct once the wings are post-stall.

    • @tabdycollins
      @tabdycollins 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TwoBrosRC My comment was based on you appearing to be holding full aft stick throughout the pass. The jet is not stalled so I assume it is your elevator/flap/aileron mix coupled with AS3X stabilisation which is allowing this. That the balance between elevator and the other surfaces is stopping the AoA from passing the stall point. If the wing stalled, aileron input would exacerbate the roll so AS3X won't help once the wing stalls. Use of power I suppose balances this delicate pitch attitude in that it reduces the aerodynamic load on the wing thus the stall point. Well done. I look forward to trying it on my F22 once I've found the time to finish installing the Thrust Vectoring modification - too many other distractions at the moment!

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh it's absolutely stalled, Tommy. 100%. It's flying at about 12 to 18 MPH when it's in those alpha passes. Nominal stall speed for a Viper is about 28 MPH without crow and about 24 MPH with crow. It's flying nearly 10 MPH under its stall speed which is a huge difference. The only thing keeping it in the air is the copious thrust to weight ratio of the 3670-1950kv motor. It's entirely flying post-stall - it's ridiculous to behold in person. Getting it OUT of the post-stall condition is the tricky part - you have to let the nose down gently as you throttle up to full, otherwise one of the wings will drop as elevator input is being reduced and it'll spiral into the ground if you overcorrect.

    • @tabdycollins
      @tabdycollins 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TwoBrosRC I'm not an aerodynamic physicist but I have flown professionally for >40yrs and I think the thrust to weight ratio is effectively reducing the stall speed. You haven't reached the hovering mode and the wings are still providing control which they wouldn't if the airflow had become detached. It would be interesting to put it in a wind tunnel with some smoke. The thrust is effectively reducing the aircraft weight so much that the airflow does not break away. Perhaps there is a Professor in aerodynamics out there who will correct me - I'm usually wrong. But I've spent a career of pushing the limits in full scale aircraft and have to admit to having got it wrong occasionally and smashed up both aeroplanes and helicopters but never hurt anyone - much!

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tabdycollins I chatted with @TailHeavyProductions about this earlier and I think you're both right - it's not quite stalled, but my money is on it being very close to it. The crow makes such a huge difference in this jet - there's no way to perform these alpha passes without it.
