I'm just so glad to hear anyone speak on Jung without deifying them

This was so enlightening and engaging. Subscribed, thank you! I would love to hear about how you believe the different pantheons co-exist and if they have emotions and desires similar to our own. I was introduced to the Morrigan when she helped me in a big way and I am now fascinated by this subject.

I'm glad you found the video useful. I don't think it's helpful to imagine gods as being like us in form or emotions, etc. Obviously, it's really hard for us to think about them otherwise, though. I find it very hard to imagine Celtic deities interacting with other deities. I'm not saying they don't, but if so, it's beyond my understanding.

Hi! I’m currently writing a novel and I’m utilizing a lot of Celtic, specifically Irish mythology, and comparing it with Assyrian and Egyptian mythology. I personally see a lot of similarities between The Dagda and Osiris, and the Morrigan with Nephthys. I want to portray a culture clash as well as the archetypal similarities. I don’t think the gods are made as archetypes but I do think they can fit with common trends. These video has been really helpful. It shares a bit of a contrasting point to mine, but it helped me gains new perspective, and I can’t wait to watch more, so thank you very much!

Thanks for this Kris! It was very helpful! I hadn’t really thought of how we often blend our understanding of deities with archetypes and lump them into set categories love, war etc.) I suppose that helps us make sense of them, but I very much agree with you that we should also think of them as unique individuals.
I also appreciated your points about how modern neopaganism is very caught up with the process of self improvement. That’s not a bad thing, but it often diverts attention from other aspects of spiritual practice doesn’t it? ❤️🍃

Yes, we're at an interesting place with all this. On the one hand, perhaps we are wrong to expect our spirituality to provide us with everything (like self-development). On the other, maybe our relationship with deities would be more effective if we could let go and really trust them. Hard for modern, "rational", people to do!

Is there another video of yours where you go into more detail about your belief in deities?
I have had gods described to me as ideas, rather than archetypes - ideas that people held in such high regard as to ascribe them the status of divinity, and stories about them as ways to express those ideas and glean wisdom from them. But I don't know if I could go so far as to say that they are beings with agency.

Well, straight up, I believe that they are beings with agency. I don't really go in for heavy theological arguments to support that - it's just not my style. I find a lot of theology a waste of time. I believe the gods are real, but I can't prove it to others. Nor can they prove that the gods aren't real. I'm often happy with embracing mystery.
