I've posted this comment before and it made some very uncomfortable who are afraid to think outside the box, but I will say this again: for me this quintet fully deserves to stand alongside those of Schumann, Brahms and Dvorak. That is my opinion.
Wunderschöne Interpretation dieses selten aufgeführten doch perfekt komponierten Quintetts im lebhaften Tempo mit klarem Klang des genialen Klaviers und gut phrasierten Tönen vierer ebenso genialen Streichinstrumente. Der zweite Satz klingt besonders schön und echt lebhaft. Einfach wunderbar!

Bartje, thank you for posting this. It is invaluable. We may disagree on some things, but certainly not on this composition.
Reminds me somehow of Chopin, Mendelssohn and even of early Scriabin in some passages!
There are hints of Scandinavian folk music.
