Don't care what you say, this music is more moving and more beautiful than a lot of music that the public enjoys. This is worthy of worship ! this band is amazing and can make me see through sound, these emotional and energizing soundscapes clears my head, allows me to think and allows me to wonder.I am able to enjoy almost any environment, I can transform the most awful place to the most beautiful. This is the music that would help the world wake up. This is something more than just music.

Post - rock is one of the best genre of music. These hidden emotions between notes... I'm totally devoted to them.

    You are tiny.
I can see the whole of time and space.
Every single atom of you existence.
    And i divide them.
    Everything must come to dust.
    All things.
    Everything dies.

Thank you so much for posting this, God Is An Astronaut always puts so many running images in my head. The bit when the drums really start to crack give this picture in my head of running down an old medieval corridor running invincibly through flames. Amazing band.

I dont know how but they are able to take certain emotions and inject it into their music, no lyrics, just pure sound. like the title is when everything dies.. i could just picture myself walking threw a forest then all the sudden all the trees around me start to burn. If this isnt music.. then i'd hate to be a music lover.

Macklemore and Timeflies are examples of "Rappers" that actually put heart and TRUE meaning behind their words.
I don't agree that people are automatically "degenerates" due to the type of music they enjoy, however the mainstream Rap industry compels the listeners to be the way they are.
If only the media actually played real music, then we wouldn't have to worry about half the shit we do.

@AstronautJ I think explosions in the sky is more 'raw'. With the tones they use. This is a more clean sounding band to me. While each has their own ups and downs I think it's safe to say they are equally good at reaching out to you with their music and that they both desrve more expsure

Music is also experienced through emotions, by indeed, i think recognizing patterns and harmonies. The joy of listning comes from the reward for the mind for his ability to get a grasp of the harmonies and patterns. However, i don't think these patterns are always universal. Certain sounds and melodies or variatians of these, are embedded in the memory. This is the reason why i think certain people like certain music; The music they listend to in their youth or due joyfull occasions.

There are tons of good rap songs, hip-hop's just moved underground. The ones you've heard are probably the mainstream lil Wayne, T-Pain shit. You should check out Kid Cudi, Jedi Mind Tricks, Nujabes, and an endless more. They are truly worth listening to :)

@burtontoker actually, wiki says that they chose theyr band name using a quote from horror-scifi film "Nightbreed" . Dunno how much thruth is in it.
But if you are asking about their religious views - go ahead and find them on myspace, facebook , official site for egz. and ask away.

Theres still a lot of subjectivity to the matter. If you were raised in a different culture and were brought up to think minors in music= happiness you would totally believe it. I think one of the greatest composers of our time is trent reznor from Nine inch nails, who incorporates a great deal of dissonance in his music, following after igor stravinsky, but dissonance isn't liked by a great deal of people, although it generally has a decent following.

@burtontoker i'm also curious as to whether they're a christian group or not. it doesn't necessarily matter, the music's great nonetheless, but it'd be nice to know whether their band name came about as a result of their belief in a certain religion or from their own specific world philosophy

Hi, just wondering which Explosions In The Sky album you found slow as I haven't listened to them all yet. I actually found this GIAA album slow as well, but as you say to each his own. Its interesting as well that GIAA and 65daysofstatic get put in the same bracket...post-rock is very hard to define.
