    5:11 - Thanks for the idea. The only thing I will change from your method if I need to use it is use a bottoming tap instead of the one you show here. I am new to refrigeration so your videos are effective educational tools for me!

    This is genius! I would never thought of this. If bulb loose charge, you can make artificial opening force with the bolt. Will come in handy on emergency situation.

    Thats genius level work there!
    Had TXV fail shut so I could not pump the system down to replace it, so cut the sensing bulb off and made a connection to the capillary and used nitrogen to pressurise the bellows and open the valve.

      Hey I’ve done that too but would you be able to use like 45% solder on that stainless steel line?

    • @EldonJohansen
      @EldonJohansen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Regular soft solder will stick to stainless if you use a soldering iron and flux. If you use a torch, the instant the flame hits the stainless it will oxidize and the solder wont stick.

      Should be able to front seat the king valve. And have your manifold gauge hook up to the low side to see the pressure or if the unit has a display that shows data and lock it on suction pressure.. once the king valve is closed. The unit will start going into a vacuum.. storing all refrigerant in the receiver tank. Once suction hits 0. Shut off the unit... it is now pumped down. And you can repair on low side lines or do repairs or remove compressor. Once unit is repair. U can front seat the discharge valve. And RR filter drier. And pull a vacumm @-29/30. Then can charge accordingly, utilizing the vacuum that's held in the system to pull the refrigerant in... once charge, back seat the king valve. Start unit. Purge the king charge line into lowside for acouple seconds... that line is now good to be taken off.. them back seat low side valve... unit is now in normal op. Hope that helps

      5:11 - Thank you for your input. You just made this artificial sensing bulb idea even more valuable to me (see my comment above)! I still have two Sporlan valves that were replaced recently (one was a capillary tube rub out so the valve is likely still good), which I will modify to keep on hand.

    • @johnnya4236

      Yes TXV is a TXV but depends on where you work .. his containers stay shut I assume so there isn’t much fluctuations in heat load so as long as he has a good superheat it’s ok but if you’re in a busy restaurant walk in there could be risk.. but in a pinch this is very good sometimes you get a late night call or SupplyHouse is hours away

      As he stated it’s for emergency repair only. And you have to remember this is a cargo ship and those containers stay shut during shipping so I don’t think there would be changes in heat load. As long as there’s is good amount of SH back to compressor is fine.
      Also I’m sure it’s better to try this and save $300,000+ worth of product than $5000-$12,000 compressor
