As for the genie NOT being the Robin Williams type, I kind of left that expectation at the door when I read the original Aladdin story as a child. Unlimited wishes from both a magic ring AND a magic lamp, each with a genie inside? Way better than just three wishes from a lamp. Still, you had to be careful to dictate the exact parameters of your wishes in either circumstance.

Not so sure about that. It's implied that objects also have souls. The Merry, Zoro's swords, Luffy's hat. Devil fruits could simply being giving a mobile form to entities that already have souls.
Here's a thought: What if Daifuku isn't the devil fruit user, but his belt is the devil fruit user. It wouldn't be the first time we've seen an inanimate object using a devil fruit, but it would be the first instance of an inanimate object using a non-Zoan fruit. Which would explain the need for an activation method (like Daifuku rubbing his belt to make the genie come out) and why the genie doesn't seem to have an independent will.
I wonder if Daifuku's genie retains it's memories from host to host. If it does, then it might remember something about the void century. It probably wouldn't know anything outside from what it experiences while it performs its tasks, but it could still know something interesting. Presuming it retains its memories, of corse.

I know this video is old and we haven't seen any more of Daifuku but I wanted to say I think this fruit is underrated. I think its more of a case of the fruit not being explored and used to it's fullest potential. Like Doflamingos power seems pretty much lame if you didn't know anything about the character or the extent of his skill with the power. I feel like this is the opposite. The genie made Daifuku so strong from jump that he kinda just relies on that. Mastery of the fruit to have the genie and your consciousness work in tandem would be sick just as it is. Add in armament haki to protect yourself while you stand there summoning it. But then also, it doesn't specify that he has to use both hands and rub his belly exactly. What if you could rub your fingers together on one hand to summon the genie and then use your other hand to weld a sword.
Pherhaps we could imagine the genie to be a small part of Daifuku's own self. Only it's just blindly obedient, and for such a reason it is so strong and seemingly knows haki. Say a kid would eat the fruit, the genie would look more like a kid, be slightly stronger than the kid(Another theory) and be way less powerful than a yonko underling.
I'd imagine an awakening for this fruit would be similar to the genie stand from jojo- Judgement. It's ability worked by absorbing the wishes of those who command it and turning into energy, then channeling that energy into any surrounding soil to manifest that wish into reality. That, or perhaps daifuku could summon something else besides the genie from his belt, manifesting it through his devil fruit, but no the genie itself.

If not, you have one powerful protector that can help you from the start of your adventure + a real ancient/powerful teacher to help you get stronger :) I would love to have someone with that power in my team. There was a story I read that had an encounter with a djinn it granted 3 wishes but the djinn of the story will kill but you can choose the method. The method chosen was to die of old age at like the age of 90. I remember the book it was Here there be dragons, it started about a princess who ran away from home because she didn't want to be a princess and be forced marry so she figured she'd rather be eaten by a dragon. She really was a princess who didn't want to be a princess she took swordsmanship lessons and had the court mage teach her magic, she learn to make cherries jubilee from the cook just doing things a princess wouldn't normally do.
it would have been interesting as a fruit that only gave 3 wishes, the last one being a deadly wish to the user before the fruit respawns into the world or whatever. it might also have a 3 per day limit or something. it might be a manifestation of daifuku's combat ability (it looks like it's made of Armament Haki) it very well might have infinite range, we hear stories of what Big Mom does to people that refuse her services. maybe Daifuku is the tool that does it.
he reminds me of Tokoyami from boku no hero academia. Tokoyami's quirk (dark shawdow) is somewhat reminiscent of a genie, except it doesn't billow out like smoke, it just kinda grows outta him. I noticed dark shadow & the genie are both sentient, and kinda have their own will, but will still carry out their masters commands. Idk but I think the parallels here are cool

This brings up an interesting question, 1 is it a mythical devil fruit and if so obviously it isn't a zoan so does that mean it can branch out to logias and paramecias. 2 I knew nothing of this character so upon seeing him in this video I thought maybe he was summoning a Golem, could that be potential category of devil fruits meaning multiple types of golem fruits (like how you have Baby 5 who is an armory, number 1, and that guy with explosive boogers, or Ace and Akainu, or Monet and Aokiji how they share similar traits, maybe we'll get a sand golem, ice golem, steel, clay, fire, plant, etc), and could there be multiple genie fruits, maybe there's one that's all powerful but only gives 3 wishes then needs a rest period, maybe there's a Jinn devil fruit.

I'm Muslim and it was so fun watching you talk about Jinn in the Islamic mythology, it's actually a very fun and interesting topic to read about. It's debatable where we can draw the line between truth and myth about those creatures because there are a lot of fictions about them. In the Quran it says that Jinn is a tribe of creatures that made of fire and it also said that we can't see them while they actually can see us.
I think Aladin had a ring that summons a magic dwarf (he had a temporary 3 wish limit) to get out of the cave... and then found out that the lamp contained a djinn (unlimited wishes) , so there were not multiple djinns in the same bottle.

I know Genies from Supernatural. They are also called Djinns there. First appeared in season 2 in episode 20 called "What Is And What Should Never Be". And they are not very nice in Supernatural, but then ... most supernatural creatures aren't exactly known to be very friendly in Supernatural. (Not even the ones we generally view as friendly.)

Tekking, what if the Genie fruit DOES grant a user 3 wishes before it kills them, and Daifuku used his first wish one something dumb, but for his second he wished the Genie would fight for him. Eh? He could give commands the genie has to obey, but he also can never make that final wish.

The Qu'ran and Arabic myths do reference Genies, but you have to remember that Genie is the English phrase. The original Arabic is actually Djinn (yes the same kinds in Magi).

What's unusual in this fruit isn't sentience which Zoan users have to overcome thier animal tendencies of thier fruit( or inanimate object with fruit become Sentiment animal).....its the first sentient being created by the fruit that comes out of the user. And as cool as it is or how much it sucks looks like the belt is part of the fruit like Baron Tamagos "eggshell daiper"

There was a story I read that had an encounter with a djinn it granted 3 wishes but the djinn of the story will kill but you can choose the method. The method chosen was to die of old age at like the age of 90. I remember the book it was Here there be dragons, it started about a princess who ran away from home because she didn't want to be a princess and be forced marry so she figured she'd rather be eaten by a dragon. She really was a princess who didn't want to be a princess she took swordsmanship lessons and had the court mage teach her magic, she learn to make cherries jubilee from the cook just doing things a princess wouldn't normally do.

he reminds me of Tokoyami from boku no hero academia. Tokoyami's quirk (dark shawdow) is somewhat reminiscent of a genie, except it doesn't billow out like smoke, it just kinda grows outta him. I noticed dark shadow & the genie are both sentient, and kinda have their own will, but will still carry out their masters commands. Idk but I think the parallels here are cool

In the very beginning when you're introducing the character you'll be discussing, you sound super similarly to the 4Kids One Piece narrator (which I think a lot of their shows shared him). I'm pretty sure that if you put some effort into it, you could nail that voice pitch and flow on its head.

This brings up an interesting question, 1 is it a mythical devil fruit and if so obviously it isn't a zoan so does that mean it can branch out to logias and paramecias. 2 I knew nothing of this character so upon seeing him in this video I thought maybe he was summoning a Golem, could that be potential category of devil fruits meaning multiple types of golem fruits (like how you have Baby 5 who is an armory, number 1, and that guy with explosive boogers, or Ace and Akainu, or Monet and Aokiji how they share similar traits, maybe we'll get a sand golem, ice golem, steel, clay, fire, plant, etc), and could there be multiple genie fruits, maybe there's one that's all powerful but only gives 3 wishes then needs a rest period, maybe there's a Jinn devil fruit.
Well here's a thought: What if some of Big Mom's kids are the children of Big Mom and Perospero? Think about it! Perospero is pretty old, and Big Mom is pretty thirsty. She would do something like that to make some crazy strong (or just crazy) children.

I'm Muslim and it was so fun watching you talk about Jinn in the Islamic mythology, it's actually a very fun and interesting topic to read about. It's debatable where we can draw the line between truth and myth about those creatures because there are a lot of fictions about them. In the Quran it says that Jinn is a tribe of creatures that made of fire and it also said that we can't see them while they actually can see us.
I think Aladin had a ring that summons a magic dwarf (he had a temporary 3 wish limit) to get out of the cave... and then found out that the lamp contained a djinn (unlimited wishes) , so there were not multiple djinns in the same bottle.

Since the genie is made of smoke i wonder what kind of synergy it would have with smoker. Like could the genie be made bigger by smoker? Or on a 1 on 1 could the genie be nullify by smoker lol.
