1955 RUSTON BUCYRUS 10 RB

This mornings task was to assemble the fuel tank filling system. Doing away with climbing up on the counter weight and pouring fuel into the filler on the roof. I had already assembled the suction pipe and fittings at home . The number "o" semi rotary pump was bolted onto the engine frame. No modifications needed on support flange. I found pipe fittings for the top of the fuel tank. I had a stock of hose but it was far to long for the job. "Hydrobrake" Bridgend, a local firm was just around the corner where the machine is kept. Pipe shortened and new connections fitted. All I had to do was fit the short feed pipe. The job looks neat and will be much easier to fill the machine with diesel. Jobs a good one.

Looks like a nice job James. The pump even looks period so it doesn't really look out of place. Take care mate.

It has worked out well and as you say it looks just right on this machine

Also , by the gate valve in that position , it will trap fuel in the pipe above it. This should help pump priming when refuelling. Well. that's the idea .

Hope to be back on it in August . Bad weather, family illness, house building work delayed things . I have the parts to put back onto the injection pump ready to refit . So fingers crossed we will back on it soon.
