As time wore on, however, Sonic reached the same speeds as Shadow, and a little faster, with Shadow instead opting to focus on his Chaos powers instead of his Speed. We've seen it quite a few times, but with how many games you quote, I doubt I need to tell you. Shadow's more destructive, Sonic's faster, imo.

Aparently, Naoto Oshima collaborated with Yuji Naka and one other with his idea to match the design with the gameplay. The official artist was someone else and the artist for Sonic Adventure - present was Yuji Uekawa, who also draws all the characters right now. But the creator of Shadow is Iizuka. It was his idea. He also directed SA1 and 2. lol
@supersonicrider900 when you beat the game you can purchase an item from the omachoa shop that can allow classic and modern sonic to go in to their super forms on any level, rival, or boss battle.

If you wanna talk about power though, E-123 Omega in Sonic Colors DS said that Sonic & Shadow were of equal levels of power, but I kinda brush that off as non-canon since Shadow the Hedgehog (the game) seems to prove otherwise.

I just realized something. Shadow's boosting animation is pretty much a recolor of Super Sonic's boosting animation.
Shadow is pretty good to be able to keep up with Super Sonic.
